Same boat. Hit 100 in the BP right around the first Tenrai, finish every event or weekly I want in a single day, no point of gaining XP, ranked isn’t rewarding so I don’t care about it, can’t earn anything worthwhile in Campaign, no milestones, no classes, nothing but 1000 matches of the same few maps and modes. Halo 4 and 5 had 100x more content. What happened 343?
Tired of playing broken netcode crashing lagging high ping matches, so I stopped playing. Since January, I have only played one day per week of Tenrai and the other event. Tac Ops was cancelled this month, so I only played one day this month.
Infinite doesn’t reward us for suffering through this heap, so why should I keep playing if I’m not having fun? MCC and Destiny are far better. Play for events if you have faith 343 will fix customization some year, and you have FOMO, but otherwise, come back next year once Forge is out and the bugs it will surely have are fixed.
i was playing some today too, and after working on a few weekly missions i came to the conclusion this is pointless. the unlock is an emblem for a weapon. i don’t even want to play the game at this point there is zero incentive to play it.
True for every game. Have you ever played a game just to earn XP or armor? No you played because it was fun and the XP and armor was a small extra thing you got. If it is not fun there is no reason to gain XP, no reason to unlock armor, no reason to do challenges, no reason to finish the season pass, an no reason to play.
I just dont understand players these days. Everyone needs a participation medal to play a game or else whats the point?
From what i read in these forums, no amount of progression system would keep you happy because people would always find a way to no life it in a few days.
If a game isn’t fun to play without virtual incentives, kick it to the side and do something else. Whats the point of getting increasingly frustrated with a game to unlock virtual cosmetics that nobody wants to see, or will ever really see?
100% this. I’m still playing daily, not because I want to unlock anything, but because this is one of the most fun games I’ve played in a long time. When any game becomes a bore to play I stop playing it. Simple as that.
This. It’s really satisfying to get a response like this. You really seem to understand the point I’m trying to make here. I think you probably put it even better than I did.
Hey, I’m actually on the side of 343 here. I want Infinite to be a success and I really believe it could be achieved if they would have made some crucial (quite easy to understand) decisions.
No one here mentioned being increasingly frustrated with unlocking cosmetics. That’s a bit of an off topic discussion. Personal perspectives are also not relevant to what I’m trying to make clear.
I’m talking about a certain aspect in a game or integrated element which gives the player the urge to keep picking it up and play it. In general, not for specific for an individual. Cause that’s exactly what I encountered with Infinite and which I think more or less is missing in the multiplayer part of the game. I described this in my first message of the topic.
This is obviously total nonsense. Take a Dark Souls game for example. Gaining XP, finding and upgrading gear/weapons and also leveling is a least as important as the fun you just get from playing the actual game. I can name 10+ more games which carry this concept.
This discussion is also a bit of a contradiction. Cause the part ‘just playing Halo Infinite for fun’ is related to the urge to earn XP, ranks, cosmetics, etc. Which for me right now totally lacks in the game.
You’re making an apples to houses comparison. Dark Souls is an RPG, the XP and armor in those games give you a benefit. I can name 300+ other games where XP and armor is tied to and adds to the gameplay. Most Halos are not in that list. (Halo 5 is only one on that list because of Warzone with lootboxes and pay to win mechanics tied with that gamemode.)
Halo is a shooter where the XP and armor you get do not contribute to its gameplay. You could take out all the XP systems and cosmetic loot in this franchise and the games would still play the same as they do now. Alternatively, take out XP and loot from Dark Souls, Devil May Cry, Witcher 3, Diablo, World of Warcraft, Destiny, Fable etc and you get a different game.
“Just play Halo infinite for fun” is related only to the fun you have playing the game. If you do not have fun playing fighting games I’m sure you will not start playing Mortal Kombat 11 just because there are cosmetics, ranks, XP etc to earn. I assume that is not a crazy assumption to make.
Which is fair. I hope you don’t think I’m trying to shut down what you are saying. I believe that more options are generally better and if what you ask for gets added in it wouldn’t make the game worse. I just think that cosmetics and XP alone do not make a game fun. They can add to the fun a player is already having, but not replace the fun all-together.
You shouldn’t. Even if the game is offering you a reward.
