I'm sad...... :(

• I completed the (paid) Season Pass to 100.
• I finish every weekly challenges in 1 day of playing.
• I climbed up from gold 4 to diamond 1 in ranked and can’t do any better.
• The XP I earn for my matches or challenges doesn’t build up to anything anymore.
• There is no armor I can unlock with playing MP or earning XP.
• There is no social XP-based ranking system to climb, like previous Halo games had.
• On top of that, 70% of the cosmetics are still locked, and tell says: “Stay tuned for more details”…

My conclusion:
Apart from ‘just for fun’ there is no point for me to keep playing Halo Infinite any longer.
I’ve put the game aside for 2 weeks now and I’m not excited to pick it up again any time soon.
This is a total let-down in my opinion and I simply don’t understand why 343 did not think this true.

The game started with so much potential…
I’m sad…

Bye :frowning:

Yes you can!

I’m just playing for fun at this point. Level 100, don’t want any of the emblem weekly challenges so I don’t do them. I’m just playing the game.

Fair enough.
Maybe I should’ve said: “I don’t have the time in my life to get better”
We all know time is key in gaining skill.

About the fun part, that’s not enough for me.
Especially with other titles on short schedule…
Yes, I’m looking at you Elden Ring.

Elder Ring should be fun, Demon’s Souls on PS5 was sublime.

I just jump on for about an hour at a time so multiplayer games are perfect for that. There’s many games I want to play but they’ll have to wait until my son is much older.

I’m sad too.

Really sad.

There’s so much potential and it’s heartbreaking to see being wasted so wantonly.

Even then, everyone has their own limit. We’re not all the same and not everybody will just keep getting better and better. It’s like going to the gym. You and a buddy cam even perform the same exact sets and rep ranges and try to match the intensity level. At the end the 2 make progress but 1 can have better results. They’re just genetically different. Different stature, muscle insertions, the ratio of slow to fast twitch muscle fibers are different etc etc.

Playing video games isn’t exactly the same obviously, but there’s still people who you can tell are naturally gifted and have more potential to go farther. We don’t have to be pro material to have fun.

Speaking of fun though…how fun is the experience anyways? Sometimes i spend 2 hours just to feel frustrated at the end of it. Hard to justify using the free time will that end result Sometimes man lol

Without a 1-50 ranking system, without proper playlists, without more BTB maps, without post and pregame lobbies, and without Full Team chat, this game will NOT be fun to play aside from unlocking stuff which is a slow, sucky grind anyway.

These are simple features that will ensure a fun game that Halo fans will keep returning to and they DO. NOT. WANT. TO. ADD. THEM.

It’s ridiculous.

AND

Halo 2 and Halo 3 was fun without ( or with minimal progression systems ) because it had:

A. A viable and appealing visual aspect to the ranking system ( 1-50 )

B. A proper social experience with lobby Chat

C. Clans

D. Top Tier Maps

E. Proper Vehicle Spawns

F. A decent Shotty, decent Sniper handling and overall solid weapon balances

G. Good Vehicle physics

H. Tight and fun combat Flow

Halo Infinite feels like a chore to play

Yeah, true about the skill part. Of course, some people have more time to practice, just have faster reflexes, or simply better surroundings to play in. But that’s just a side part and fine with me.

I’ve played Halo from the times of original Xbox until now, and everything that was in between that.
Part of the most fun has always been the urge to unlock new gear or to rank up higher. I remember I was so blown away about all the rank Halo Reach had. I really looked up to people with the higher ranks. And really was hoping that I would reach Inheritor one day…

That’s what keeps players returning to pick up the game.
Is so simple… yet so difficult for a developer to understand…

sigh

I can play for fun, but truth be told I need some levels, I loved climbing the XP and getting emblems for reaching certain levels on H5

I’m getting close to 40 now. So…I’ve been playing for a long time. My jobs have impacted my abilities quite a bit throughout the years. I can’t even play music as I once did. Reflexes aren’t as sharp, but at least having played so much halo is still a factor.

In another thread about the rank topic, I wrote about why old fans adored something like the halo 3 ranking system. Where everyone starts off at 1, and there’s only 1 direction to go. It was fun seeing how far you can get, and it wasn’t something accomplished in a few hours or days. Even if someone’s skill tapped out in the 20s range for example.

Fast forward to today…where a daimond skill player can rank in at P5 and within a very very short time reach their ceiling at low daimond. Their journey has ended, especially in a game where there isn’t that much mechanical skill to grind. The equivalent would be ranking someone in at skill rank 19 or 20 on their 10th match when their ceiling is 22. It cuts the journey short…you smack the wall…and…go down and back to where you hit the wall for what seems like forever. The reality is that the journey from 1-22 is more enjoyable to the player, and despite all the behind the scenes factored in for our current system…most players will gravitate towards thr 1-50 feeling natural and flowing as they play vs rank placements and resets.

Halo reach also had quite a bit to play for. There’s so much of what worked back then, with the refinement of what exists today that…we would hope to get more out of our current experience. We don’t though. Its cut short for many for different reasons…and not having things like static fun and rewarding commendations sucks. It just doesn’t hit the same with the battle pass and event system.

Then when it comes to rank and player journey being cut short (unless you rank in at D1 and have the skill of a high onyx player) there’s 1 single playlist for that short journey.

What can we do though?..I suppose waiting for season 10 and a snipers rotational playlist event…or doubles…is supposed to wow us somehow because of an unlock attached to it right?..

Nothing much you can do. Stop playing the game is how you can make the best statement.

The problem is: you don’t get anything from ‘just playing online games’ (letting the season pass aside).
There are barely cosmetic unlocks. There is no XP based ranking system. Customization options are more limited than ever. Nothing! If I didn’t bought the season pass, I would have, what 2?, helmets to choose from. It’s rideculous.

And why didn’t they integrate a seperate ranking system where you can climb a ranking ladder based on how much XP you earn?!?

The most logical explaination behind this would be ‘earning money’ probably.
But they’ve just dug their own pit.

Was feeling this when BTB came back online but I HAD to finish the tenrai challenges- Spent 3 hours trying to get them done, couldn’t, got frustrated and just… Well, we’re still on that dying light 2 kick.

@Gr00veBreaker not to mention the lack of server lobbies and such, can’t even make friends or enemies.

I remember the days when games were created to be played purely for fun…

Hey the game isn’t completely finished, but the inspiration to keep playing does kinda suck. I wish it was like halo 5, your xp goes getting new armor and you can obtain everything with persistence. I think you’re problem is likely common. Not sure how to fix it.

Don’t agree with A because OP would already have obtained whatever his likely max rank is in those games as well. It’s not like it takes long to get there.

Everything else though, spot on.

Take the opportunity to learn the maps advanced jumps and movement routes.

Just using High Power as an example alone

  1. I’ve found two ledges that have great sight lines I’ve never seen anyone else use.
  2. There’s a jump up from the big door to the shock rifle/stalker rifle cliff I’ve never seen anyone else use.
  3. There’s a secret entrance to the top of Waterfall base I’ve never seen anyone else use (it’s not the little drop down vent room)

There’s a bunch of “secret” jump/clamber routes on Fragmentation I’ve never seen anyone else use either.

When you’re not grinding for unlocks, you should be grinding for better map knowledge!

I do definitely feel like the only reason I’m playing the game is to complete challenges at this point.

It forces me into gamemodes I dislike, adds frustration to the mix too.

Last weeks ultimate challenge made me win 3 ranked CTF games. By running the maths, it would take over 48 games on average to achieve that challenge. Unfortunately, I was incredibly unlucky and despite playing for hours, I never got the chance to complete the challenge.

For the first time in a long time I’ve booted up BTB just to try and have fun playing the game. It’s certainly possible to do, however my MMR is rated so high at this point that I struggle to find games, or get paired with awful teammates and cheating enemies.

Just not too fun to play, especially as when I play wish friends they find their rating to be too low compared to mine, and cannot even play without getting destroyed, or they just lag all over the place.

That is if the gameplay is even fun.
After 2 months of playing the same maps with same horrible desync, even that’s not fun anymore.
