I'm Really Trying !!!!!

I know I have been only playing a day…but I did great in the beta and have a 2.0 KD in Halo 4. I just cannot get it. The feel is just not right. I can’t move correctly. I have tried 3 sensitivity to a 10 and everything in between. It does not help that I use Halo 4 control so every other shot the controller tries to melee !!! I will keep trying but this is UBER frustrating. Game is itself looks great and has been functioning (getting games) perfectly I must say.

Try other control schemes, also never say ‘uber’ again. I don’t understand what you mean though by “controller tries to melee”, can you elaborate on this please?

New games always feel a bit weird at first. But you know Halo 5 has great mechanics if I can just pick up the controller and after 2 matches feel like I dominate the environment. As for your problem, have a look at your monitor/tv’s latency. If it’s less than or equal to 2ms, then it’s the game’s fault you can’t get used to it - if it’s larger than 5ms response time then try and look for a ‘game’ setting on your device or otherwise you’re going to have to get used to it!

I picked it up very quickly I use the bumper jumper control scheme with a sensitivity of 4. Im loving the dash mechanic

Good because getting a 2.0 in halo 4 meant nothing as its halo 4. This is more in tune with classic, competitive balanced halo. The aiming is fine in my opinion, the pistols the only thing thats a bit off atm.

Sure. In the Halo 4 control scheme, the melee button is the right bumper. So in a heated battle if you are trying outshoot someone you can very easily “brush” the melee every so slightly and it will try to melee in a gun fight. The new controllers are super sensitive. As far trying a new control scheme…how easily would you be able to switch after 10 years of the same controls ???

How do you like hitting in R3 to zoom? I tried bumper but switcher to helljumper where AIM is LT.

You wouldn’t be able to tell a difference between 2ms and 20ms on a console game with a controller. Also, no TV has lag anywhere near as low as 5ms. And you must be talking about response time, because you aren’t going to find many monitors under 5ms total latency either.

Oh. My. -Yoink!-. He’s back…in a good way.

Actually, OP, I know what you mean. I did not play the beta, so this is entirely new to me. I do relatively well on MCC, but suddenly can’t do anything in Halo 5. However, I feel that my lack of skill is partially because I have to sacrifice game audio to chat with friends and vice versa. I was also quite tired when I first started Multiplayer. I imagine that I will do better today, since I am well-rested. We shall see, I suppose.

The only other thing I can say is just keep trying. You’ll get better, I’m sure.

Keep trying bud, you’ll get the hang of it. Then you will be wrecking fools like a champ

i am also trying very hard to like halo 5 but I’m not feeling it. i have used bumper jumper since halo 3 but I just feel like using it is a disadvantage in halo 5

The game has very little aim assist. Work on your aim bro.

If you’ve got a bunch of people you normally play with, do custom games and challenge each other. That way you can get used to the controls without wrecking your ranks or anything. Keep hammering away and you’ll get it!

Been running with halo 4 scheme and 5 sensitivity, don’t change settings too often or you will never get used to it. Give it time and practice,

I’m still awful and all over the place but after the first night started to feel muuuuch more comfortable.

I thought humility was a lost virtue! Your no doubt better than me. Good on ya!

Because of NO BR start

Thanks for all the CONSTRUCTIVE words of advice. I did well in the Beta and that’s what makes it double frustrating…

I did extremely well in beta and not so much anymore. They’ve changed a lot since then including aim acceleration, aim assist and radar. It’s not you they nerfed a lot of things and it feels very different. Just try to enjoy for now while they start gathering feedback I have no doubt we’ll see some rebalancing in the coming weeks or at least options to turn certain things on or off (aim acceleration toggle plz).

The big problem is indeed Aim Aceleration. The aim assist was really low in the Alpha and that played fantastic. This game is a lot less smooth then the Alpha in my opinion and I also would love a toggle for acceleration.
