So what now? I’m literally jonesing for more to do. I can’t go into campaign cuz I got nearly everything worth getting, and there’s no mission select to pick my favorite parts and relive them unless I start the game over entirely.
I can play more MP, but I already finished the event stuff and the season pass.
I can play ranked, but I don’t like competitive play as it sucks the fun out of the game for me personally- but even if I did care about ranked people keep saying it’s a total mess. And showing video clips of it being a total mess.
In MCC, every week I’d grind PVP and PVE challenges and unlock a bunch of stuff.
In Infinite I grind challenges and get one thing, or 10 things I may literally never use if there’s an event.
Please, I want to play your game. I want more to do so badly. But this slow trickle of content is depressing, and prioritizing competitive play (with a botched ranked system no less) leaves people who play for fun alienated. And it also leaves people who play competitively frustrated since Halo 1-3 managed a good competitive scene while still focusing on fun.
I can go back to MCC, but if that’s the case why did I pay for your newest game that was 6 years in development and cost me 60 bucks for the campaign and 10 bucks for each season pass?
And why did you promise no FOMO when I am constantly in fear that if you put the Mark V helmet for the Mark V B in the shop (which should just have a catalogue) and I don’t have money I won’t just not be able to have it, but will likely never see it again.
I am in fear of missing out, and you specifically promised that would not be the case.

IDK, pick your favorite playlist and have fun. Why is unlocking things the end all to video games?

The playlists just blend together, on MCC I’d break things up by going on Firefight. Or hopping on missions. Then I’d hop back in.
Or I’d play some rounds of Grifball.
Or I’d hop on Infection.
You know, game modes different enough to not blend into the others so that in between regular TDM or Swat or Rumble Pit I can get a little proper variety.
Plus the unlockables are normally something you need to pay cash in hand, while unlocking stuff at least gives me a thing-or things- to aim for while I play these game modes that just blend together.
We have no Forge, Co-Op is just now getting flights, custom games don’t work, I can’t play specific missions from the Campaign without starting the entire Campaign from scratch.
If I have to wait for aaaalll that, at least give me stuff to unlock so I have extra incentive in the meantime.

THANK YOU. Seriously, that second point kinda sums up my frustration in a way I couldn’t quite word.

So, the only way you can can fun with a game, is if you are continuously unlocking some fancy skins? Is not gameplay, maps, and game modes not more important to having fun?

More like if you’re playing a game, you want something out of it. Some people literally just play the game to get better. Some just play for fun.
But in an age where there are as many free games as there are TV channels- especially given how big some of these free games are, and especially when they give you free stuff just for logging in- a little extra incentive is nice.
Plus all those games have more stuff to do. The only reason I stick with Infinite is because those other games aren’t Halo. Even Splitgate isn’t quite Halo, similar as the gameplay may be.
But what do we get for paying for and playing the game and investing tons of time in it? Practically nothing especially when this is at best 1/8th of a full Halo game by the franchise’s own standards.

You said it, right there. There is no game like Halo. I play games for fun , not to unlock things. Halo has been my favorite online game for almost two decades. I really don’t care what my character looks like.

Good for you.
But I’ve been playing since 2019, and in that short span every time I played the MCC just be like
“HERE HAVE A HELMET! HAVE SOME SHOULDERS! HOW ABOUT NEW VISOR COLORS? ALSO YOUR REACH SPARTAN HAS A KNIFE- SOMETHING MOST SOLDIERS WOULD NATURALLY HAVE- TOTALLY FOR FREE! HOW ABOUT SOME WEAPON SKINS? WANNA RUN AROUND WITH AN OG XBOX ON YOUR BACK? SURE WHY NOT? HOW ABOUT MORE ARMOR FOR ELITES? AND ALSO BEING ABLE TO PLAY AS ELITES? HOW ABOUT NEW WEAPON SKINS SO YOU CAN HAVE ALL GREEN COVENANT WEAPONS IN 3 AND SUPPORT THE GREAT SCHISM BECAUSE SCREW THE COVENANT, SANGHEILI SOLIDARITY SON!”
and I didn’t have to pay a dime.

MCC, a paid game, gave you many customization’s for just playing the game, for free. But Infinite multiplayer, free to play, wants you to pay money for your skins. Sounds about right.
I guess, play another game.
I know that sounds rough but, y’know?
Pick up a hobby, or hone in on one you like a lot. It’s what I do between seasons.

But I also paid for the campaign, which is 60. And each season pass is 10 bucks, so currently 20. That’s 80 bucks for a game with less content- not just unlockables, but content- than any of the games in MCC which you can get individually for 10 bucks if you wanted.
So let’s say I just get Reach. 10 bucks gets me the following-
Firefight
Co-Op
Tons of customization options
Infection
Grifball
Forge
Playable Elites
Mission Select
Friggin Medieval Armor for some reason
Helmets that were cut from the original release
Ranked that actually works, assuming I care enough to try my hand at it at the time- which I have, which I can’t say for Infinite given how broken Ranked is according to people who play it regularly

You’re not wrong, but isn’t that kind of a bad sign?
Like instead of playing the game, it gives you so little to do that you go off and do something else?
Ideally wouldn’t 343 want people to play often?
Like I shouldn’t be thinking “Well I’m done, guess I’ll beat another 3 games while I wait for an update” on a game that’s supposed to be live service and is supposed to get regular updates.

I sometimes want to say this, but Halo does need anyone and everyone to join the community. Just wish they enjoy playing the game, more than cosmetics.

I agree- I wish Infinite gave us more to do, or failing that at least something for participating.
It’s not even hard, look- “Here’s your login bonus- a Challenge Swap! Log in multiple days in a row to get more along with XP Boosts!”
There, free things I’d normally have to buy being provided as a thank you for logging in, and just by logging it the game tempts you to play it since, well, the game’s already on and loaded so why not?
It doesn’t have to be strictly cosmetic, just give us SOMETHING.

wiggles hand life is full of many joys my friend. Feeling like you need to be hooked on a game may be a problem in and of itself.
To the OP’s credit, quite frankly, Halo: Infinite is lacking in fun content. But it’s not so bad. I feel like a game that asks me to play it daily just isn’t really a game for me. A game should be there when I want it to be there for me, and have things to offer.

This is true.
But I still payed for a full Halo game, and most of said Halo game is on hold. Literally half of this game is waiting for stuff to do and getting very little for your patience, or waiting for the rest of the Halo game to be finished piece by piece so you can finally play it. Even if log in bonuses aren’t quite the answer, and even if I can do something else, this is a small comfort when what I want to do is play Halo.
But there’s very little Halo in Infinite- what’s there is good, but there’s not a lot. When I have to wait potentially more than a year to be able to play Infection or hop on same couch co-op, is it really so unreasonable to want at least something as simple as “Shoot down 5 heavy vehicles in BTB and get a Challenge Swap.” or “Get 100 credits if you win enough games of Last Spartan Standing before the end of the week” or literally anything.
Am I really the crazy one here for feeling like we ought to get something for our time in the game? Even if we aren’t the types to play every day or even often, is this really enough? Even if the solution isn’t free stuff (tho given how much is paid it would certainly be nice) is there really enough content here even for casual play to feel satisfied?

Play something else that has the content, and dip into Infinite when you want the gameplay. I’m actually looking foward to the Spartans event in Fall Guys.
well there’s the commendation-…
could make an map-…
maybe go after the rewarding achievemtents-…
oh! could reach max rank on the progression-…
perhaps fill out your rewarding armory-…
could make an machinima… the weekly reward… the uh… accademy? i dunno what to tell ya, but the game has nothing to its name. just wait 10 years for their to be ‘good enough’ content

AND THAT’S A WHOLE OTHER THING. Making Machinima with this game sounds so awesome, what better use for the items I get that won’t be used? Those skins and shoulders I got in Tactical Ops or the Cyber event or the Fractured events? All now useful!
But getting your character to lower their weapons is obnoxious, not that it should be too easy since you obviously don’t wanna lower your weapon by accident but give us a button combo or a setting or something!
