I'm old and bad now, here are some thoughts. (Long Rant)

Its so paradoxical, cuz the whole point of going free to play was to attract the larger casual crowd, but the game itself is one of the least casual friendly so far.

Did you read my mind?

Sounds like I will need to get in touch. If you guys are all adults, I may even have to get my mic back out. Before Waypoint became a virtually unusable mess, our clan was ’ The Grandpa Gamers’ and we had 2 grandmas as well

Well done !! Same here with playing forever. Atari, then Nintendo, then X-Box.

I may have to take you up on that if I decide to stick with it. The group of guys I used to play with has gone from too many to two in the last 20 years.

I’ve made a similar post to yours but it somehow got deleted or moderated into oblivion.
I’m turning 37 next year and as much as want to really invest time in this game, because i think it is great, i honestly can’t.
The skill ceiling sometimes is too high for me, i can’t make out friend or foe sometimes and i feel like the enemy team always knows exactly what to do, while i’m running around with noobs like me.
I’d love some smooth, chill out game modes, where you can have fun and not be sniped cross map by a FaZe clan member in the making.
The only thing that isn’t stressing me out is fighting against bots. I do the same in CS:GO btw.

And i felt the same with a franchise that is near and dear to my heart and it’s recent new release. I can feel the “changing of the guard” heavily and that sucks, to be honest. There is a new generation of gamers on the way and their definition of “fun” seems to be funky.

Sorry, i didn’t want to make this sound like i’m a thousand years old.

I don’t understand…If you don’t like and don’t want to play MP, why do you care what armor you have? Why are you getting FOMO (got, I hate that) if you’re doing your best to not play MP?

I honestly don’t know where you got that from. I enjoy the MP but I’m not great. I do care about the cosmetics.

I’m complaining because I don’t have the time/skill to grind out challenges all day and I just think there should be better options available to people in the same situation.

I got that from you saying that the MP gives you anxienty and that you also enjoy bot matches more.

So does that mean that if I say I prefer Pizza I must also dislike Rotisserie Chicken?

If the chicken gave you anxiety, I would think so.

Again, OP, I apologize if this is an unwelcomed intrusion, but our guys are developing multiplayer lobbies to develop strats and give folks the opportunity to play on teams.
All older players are welcome.

You have to ask yourself, what do you want out of your halo experience? What’s important to you? What do you consider fun?

You don’t want this crazy anxiety or having a rough time. Totally understandable. Did you know there’s groups of people who play halo together? Have game nights full of custom games? Previously played tons of forged modes and maps? There are players who feel exactly like you, and i believe a good suggestion would be for you to reach out to these players.

I myself am going on 37. My hands ache everyday using tools…i feel like crap almost everyday…but I love halo. I play some crazy sweaty matches because everyone I play with is better than me, but the experience itself I find really fun. I do practice at the game though, and take constructive criticism from my friends. My win rate is like bottom tier right now man haha. I can get on and lose 11 games in a row dude. Still, the matches feel fair most times…and for that reason I find them fun.

Imho, the armor coatings…armor cores…emblems…all that extra seasoning…sure…it tastes good…but the meat and potatoes of the game…the general gameplay and what it feels like to have a good time with friends…now that’s a dish you’d want served each time you fire your game up right?

Waypoint has changed…idk If there’s still a recruiting section, but finding like-minded players would be very beneficial to you. There are also gamers of your same age group as well. You aren’t alone.

Hey all. I’m there with you. Im turning 34 thid year with trigger thumb in both hands, carpel tunnel and starting in on arthritis. My hands definitely don’t work as well as they did when I bought my original Xbox and Halo 1 20 years ago at initial launch. This game has been so much over so many years to me so I’m not gonna stop playing. I’ve always been a slightly sweaty player. I’ve never cheated and always played with good people. The one thing I’ve learned over the years is that for strategies trump even the best individual players the vast majority of the time. H Infinite is new so the strategies are just starting to be developed for game play in pvp mode and will continue to develope as the game progresses. This is where the old community like us excels. So let’s do it. Let’s pull together and put together simple strats that this of us having issues and are more casual can easily put into play to wipe the floor. Let’s not focus on what we cant do anymore and focus on what sets us apart which is our knowledge and skill from playing these games longer than a good portion of the population has even been alive. I have been chatting with my H5 clan, it consists of most older players and those with families and limited play time, and we are going to set up a place for discussing easily formed and used strategies to build off of and anyone that wants to get involved feel free to message me on Xbox live. My GT is RunNGunDummy and has been for several years. We can set up a discussion chat for input and even customs and such to help develop and learn to better utilize the strats that we come up with. I’m not worried about the strats spreading either because over all it only gets us old players thinking more into ways to beat our own strategies.

343i are the ones that actually developed them games, Bungie was merely a producer with the ideas

Welcome to the community @Power_Hansen !!

The new daily challenge changes may go a long way in easing my concerns with progression.

Still want more multiplayer modes though.

Progression is pretty much everyone’s biggest pet peeve with infinite so far. 343 has stated several times that it was a known issue from the get go with feedback forth in house and from fans and that it will be updated but it will take time. Unfortunately true to 343 form there has not been a time frame given but we are least know they are listening and it’s on the radar to be updated

I KNOW EXACTLY !! I’m a grandfather these days. In Ranked now, it’s like playing against a mob of kangaroos and every one of them has a firecracker up their butts. I can barely get a shot to land. My knuckles are aching, my eyes are straining and I start to wonder if I can still do it. I have been doing all the PvE in MCC and in Halo 5, I just stick with Warzone Firefight. Infinite campaign is on order and I am convinced that I will enjoy that, except for the jackal snipers on Legendary. As an old guy, I can still really enjoy those in the tiny amount of time that I have to spare nowadays.

Love your post, just wanted to say, don’t write off Warzone on 5. The purchasable req packs were - insert profanity - but I never purchased a single one. I ground out the entire collection. I was about Level 140 or so, before everything was opened, but it was all free. Just to add, this ‘battle pass’, ‘store’ and ‘paywall’ system on Infinite, is way more predatory.
