You’re not wrong. But that’s the internet for you. I’ve been called way worse to my face.
This capstone challenge thing, shouldn’t be a thing. I agree with you.
I agree, especially when they said they didn’t want to make challenges a grind but somehow develops an exact thing that incentivizes you to grind all your challenges out to get a weekly shiny unlock. I wish it wasn’t a thing.
The struggle is real.
I don’t mind the concept of a capstone challenge, but as it stands it’s just poorly implemented. Challenges by their nature shouldn’t rely on consistent luck, let alone a lot of it. 5 killing sprees in Fiesta? That’s a bit ridiculous. Play 15 pvp matches? (my capstone from last week) Arguably flirting with being too easy, but at least it’s something you as a player can dictate.
The point is to incentivize play, and thats fine, but they need to consistently monitor that quick slide from “incentivize” to “embitterment”.
If you’re talking about Bot matches, you absolutely can choose the difficulty. If you open the settings, you’ll find that the Bots have four difficulties: Recruit, Marine, ODST, and Spartan. You can change these at will during Bot matches.
Naaa rust has nothing to do with it. I have a 4.0 KD in MCC and i struggle cracking 500 in Infinite. This game only rewards the sweatiest or insane plays. It’s kill structure is designed to be “fair” and promote trades. I kill you, your team mate kills me, repeat, repeat. Age, nor rust should validate a reason for the user not having a good time. The game is not balanced and in my opinion it plays nothing like vanilla halo. NOTHING. The only thing this game has are nostalgic moments that make you feel like youre playing halo. Which is why a lot of us are burnt out “playing it for fun”. I hate when people say oh you need to play this way in order to enjoy it or understand… 343 just can’t touch Bungie’s halo’s no matter how hard they try.
60 years old here! Been playing video games since Atari space invaders… got into Halo 2 and have been playing halo since then… my biggest issue is the new outlines compared to the old red vs. Blue … my reaction time was not great to begin with and now there is that extra half second to fully determine friend or foe… please, please 343, bring back an option for traditional red vs. Blue in the settings so us more “mature” gamers can have some chance in PvP…
Fortunately if the MCC is any indicator of what 343 is capable of then I believe it is within their capability to create a toggle that can override colors client side to create a classic red vs blue without disrupting other people who want to keep the new outlines. I have no idea when they may get around doing it but I am confident in saying that can and most likely should.
that’s only in custom games, not the bot matchmaking playlist…unless theres something we’re missing??
No, you’re right. I misunderstood.
In fairness, though. If you just do custom bot matches (including with friends), you can change the difficulty.
Sounds like you want Firefight.
I too want Firefight.
Yeah but one thing I really appreciate about bots is that there is a matchmaking for them and we can continue to progress as a pve player.
tbh firefight gets boring pretty quick, i want something better. Maybe an evolution of Warzone Firefight that isn’t polluted by reqs. Or maybe a kind of Spartan Ops 2.0. SpOps always felt like a great idea with poor execution.
Seeing as Infinite is gonna be a decade long journey, we may get additional Campaign content over the years, so your SP Ops 2.0 may be there, but integrated into the campaign.
In all honesty, I have no wish for everything to have a Bot mode. It’s gonna get old quick, and bots are programmed with player behaviour so the Bots will reach a point where they do what the average player does, but with the added bonus of never missing their shots. (Spartan Level bots are like this, and getting lasered by them the moment you peek is not fun)
I’m looking forward for mainly two things with Firefight:
- Traditional Firefight
- Floodfight
More specifically Floodfight, we can have a holdout mode where it’s just hordes of Flood vs 4-8 players.
What I want to see is more multiplayer options, not just PVP.
I also want to be able to customize my Spartan. I don’t want to look like generic blue spartan #45373.
I have zero issue spending money on a battle pass (even though the progression needs serious work). I just don’t like that right now it almost feels like you’re being punished if you don’t do the challenges.
I’d be much more interested in seeing a Re-do of Warzone Firefight from H5. I never got to try it, and I heard its main problem was that it was dragged down by the horrible reqs system being integral to how it worked, but otherwise it looked really neat, with the capture points and boss rounds and stuff. A properly varied evolution of Firefight.
Thing is, that takes time to make. In the meantime, I want a way to make the bots I play against in matchmaking more of an effort to defeat rather than just feeling like “push buttons to win”
Every single match being steaktacular isn’t all that fun and being stuck to arena modes for it also isn’t ideal.
Then get 343 to remove SBMM from Quickplay and BTB.
It’s always annoying that you get super sweats on the other team for these modes.
Smart teamwork beats quick reflexes.
Excuse the plug, but my H5 companies, Savage Dads and Savage Swarm, were filled with older guys who worked together.
Message me and I’d be happy to put you in touch with the best group of guys to play with. C
A little of our approach can be found on my YouTube channel, KILL FAT KIDS.
never consent to sucking
I think you’re putting the blame in the wrong area. SBMM has its place as something that runs in the background for QP and BTB to avoid getting the sweatlords in your game. What they need to do is remove it from bot modes, and let us pick the bot difficulty as a dropdown menu, similarly to how the ranked playlist has a dropdown menu for input matchmaking.
MMR looking at your bot games inflates your MMR so when you play actual pvp modes you get the sweatlords.
I think this game feels a bit less casual-friendly overall. The small radar makes it more that way, as do the very long-range weapons that mean people can kill you from almost anywhere, even without a sniper.
I’d love to see firefight eventually too, though I expect that’ll be a late next-year kind of addition.
