I am a gamer that plays and owns all consoles and has to choose which one I want to spend money on earning online time. So when I heard that halo 5 was going to be Co-op capable with silver players I lost my -Yoink-, and all my friends did too, for me and my friends becoming silver isn’t much of a problem but when it happens we don’t always have the extra cash for another 3 months or a year, so halo 5 comes out I have about a month left or a few weeks (I’m bad with time) and I just now became silver thinking that when my friend gets halo 5 we are still going to experience the campaign together
but not only did Microsoft rob me of 2 days of gold ( my gold was supposed to run out on the 4th and it’s the 2nd) but I found out that about a month or two after 343 said you could play co-op while being silver theg y fell back on the deal.
I know the easy fix is to just buy a card but I don’t want to after hearing they said they would be free online campaign and taking it back
that dashed my loyalty to this series a little, after pre ordering almost every halo and playing the death out of all of them EVEN HALO WARS! I feel like I was lied to, this wasn’t even major news. 343 saying it would be free was big news but I heard litterally nothing about the cancellation, I just started using this again around halo 5’s release and just now found out free co-op was a no go
if you are not going to have split screen and opt out on not having a free online campaign. You need to fix it and put that back in, not so that this one annoyed gamer can be calmed but because if the masses is just like me an average joe, they are going to do the same thing and then complain about this dumb decisions
not or everyone has a backup 3 month card or the money to get one, we kinda spent it all on the 15 games that just came out
It wasnt two month later, it was just a week or two in a statement rectifying the miscommunication. And that was back in like May or June. You’re still holding a grudge on that? There’s plenty of reasons to mad at Halo and 343, but that’s like a bottom of the barrel issue.

I dont believe you. Either there’s another gold account on your system (or the system is ‘owned’ in someone else’s name) or you’re fibbing. Because online modes always require gold on xbox.
That is really petty dude. What they said, and why should they give you a feature for gold for free? And who knows, if they even said that Microsoft may not have let them put co-op campaign on silver. More incentive to shell out money for gold. Not using the 14 day code out of spite only hurts you. Definitely doesn’t hurt Microsoft.

My issue was that in an official magazine 343 stated that since split screen would be omitted, they would grant us silver access to campaign online, thus reaching a wider audience, the already gold owners, and the casual players who might be interested and that person who hasn’t had gold in a year cause they thought having to pay for access to the Internet was dumb seeing how they already had to pay for access.
You are right that Microsoft stopped the idea but 343 still planned on doing it.
And as long as things like multiplayer were still locked out it wouldn’t hurt them, there is still a vast majority of people willing to pay to play online. This decision was just to make a few extra bucks and that is petty.

Well I don’t think I said it to well in my post but I usually choose what I want to do when I’m about to run out, this time seeing how my brother just had a birthday I bought a playstation subscription. I’m not a total bum just on the Microsoft side.

Whines about Gold membership costing to much.
Complains he can’t afford because he owns all the Consoles and just bought 15 games.
You aren’t getting any of our sympathy.

> If you can’t afford $60 a year for online capabilities, you shouldn’t be buying 15 $60 games. Just a thought
What I was saying is that there’s usually a bulk of games coming out around the year, all the most recent games in the last few weeks too. In my post I’m not complaining that I can’t be gold. That would just be petty, but you kinda bring up a point and I was just listening to a podcast that just talked about this in a sense, in the last few weeks we have had call of duty, halo 5, tomb raider, fallout 4, and Star Wars battlefront. That’s a lot of tempting games, and when you like to spend your money sparingly and our if you’re young and can only ask for one thing at a time your options will be split. Now normally I would be on your side 100% of the way SABER and if I was complaining about my personal ability not to play online I would agree. But when it’s close to Christmas and you live in a household of gamers that $60 you usually use for a year quickly becomes someone’s gift.
any other time of the year unless it was for a birthday I’d fully agree,
tis the season to buy expensive things falalala my wallet’s empty

=_= like the third person I’ve had to elaborate on, my issue isn’t that I can’t get online/ pay for it. I live in a household of gamers that’s not an issue and it would be petty if it was.
Also never said I bought 15 games (who even has that kind of money.)
and who doesn’t have all the current gen consoles by this point? There has been like 3 price lowers and millions of discounts. My Xbox one about a year ago I got for like $200 when at that time they were still like $350 or something?
And what I was trying to say about the 15 games was currently in the past month we have gotten halo 5, call of duty, Star Wars battlefront, fallout 4, and tomb raider. All very enticing AAA titles. And I was just trying to say if an average gamer wanted to buy more then one they’d already have to spend $120.
My only complaints are that 343 promise something for that person who couldn’t afford to get halo 5 and a gold card and Microsoft saw this and immediately said no and slapped 343’s hand when in reality this decision would broaden the audience. And if they were worried about losing out on subscription fees they forget just how many players would play multiplayer,
in fact halo 5’s multiplayer is my main driving force to save up for a card.
sorry if you thought I was asking for sympathy, lol I stopped going to the Internet for that. I just wanted to see if there was anyone who was upset at this realization
agian sorry for the long reply
The free co-op remark was a mistake on Game Informer’s part, which was quickly corrected. So, basically, you’re getting comically bent out of shape for pretty much no reason. Surprise.

> Yeah ok/
Okay… What year is it? How many price drops have the darn things had and how many discounts have they had?
My problem isn’t that I can’t afford gold in fact I just spent $20 getting time for another system. I live in a home of 5 gamers getting money for cards isn’t my issue
and when did I say I got 15 games? I mean even if I did could you blame me with all the titles that just came out? Tomb raider, fallout 4, call of duty, halo 5, and Star Wars battlefront. Yeah if I could I would have all those games in a heartbeat. But we gotta conserve this time of the year, it’s the holidays and such.
My issue isn’t that I personally can’t afford online, it’s because 343 went back on there words, Microsoft feared that making co-op open for silver player would lower subscription revenue, even though I think people would happily pay for multiplayer seeing how’s it’s the best it’s been in years and all. Makin campaign free for silver would broaden the demographic showing people hey you know this game is really fun maybe I’ll but more Xbox live.
But Microsoft was petty (I’ve been using that word a lot just look at all my replies lol) and made 343 scrap the idea.
Thats my issue.
You bring up a good argument though, how were you supposed to know I got my system through a discount. You weren’t.

No 343 fully intended this to happen, seeing how split screen was no longer a feature 343 wanted to make co-op free so they wouldn’t hurt the player opinion to much, but after hearing about this Microsoft saw that they might potentially loose a few bucks even though this time around multiplayer was a major highlight (in fact it’s kinda the only reason I’m going to get online again) having a free co-op would make more people interested, when they get interested they invest and buy gold. In end this way it would be a much better economic decision, pay off would be if not significantly higher higher nonetheless.
Although I did get a little to worked up over this whole thing, I would delete the post but I feel that would make things worse. So I’ll stick to my guns even though it’s given me a ton of negative feedback and wrong accusations.
