I'm not gonna lie

The current maps suck, save a couple (Haven & Exile). Too big, lacking symmetry, etc. I’m saying this for the first time but Halo 4 could use some map layouts from its campaign. There are a lot of sections during campaign where I thought: “wow, this would be totally badass as a multiplayer map!” So, yeah. Thoughts?

But I should stress this more: THE MAPS ARE TOO HUGE. Too big. And some maps just have bad design like Solace and Abandon. Abandon more so than Solace.

Anyways, again: what do you think about what I suggest?

I don’t think I could disagree more. One of the things I hated the most about Reach was the fact that almost every map was ripped from the Campaign. I’m happy with the maps and am glad to know that 9 more will be coming in the next 6 months.

My favorite is actually solace, I really dig it, even complex.

The only one I really hate is abandon. Terrible map.

I the forge maps would make it into matchmaking. They all look very fun to play on.

I don’t know why people have to bark at the thought of using campaign terrain as multiplayer maps. As long as they are good, that’s all that matters. Most of Reach’s maps just suck, and not because they came from the Campaign. That’s irrelevant. If multiplayer maps were taken from segments of Halo 4’s campaign featuring awesome map design, the maps would be awesome! Screw originality. The campaign level designs are already original. Just use what’s fitting for the multiplayer.

Because some people, myself included, like playing campaign AND multiplayer. And seeing the same map everywhere you go gets old and annoying.

>Ragnarok in Spartan Ops episodes.
>Complex in Spartan Ops episodes.
>What’s to say 343 wont come up with some sort of repetitive “Alright Spartans clear the area” routine for more multiplayer maps in Spartan Ops.

You know what also gets old? Playing the same map thousands of times over in a span of 5 years ('m referencing Halo 3 multiplayer here, btw). You’re going to see “original multiplayer maps” until they become ingrained into your memory bank. This will happen whether the map comes from the campaign or not.

I mean, solace is an example of a map that could work real well in classic halo slayer settings. Meaning there are respawn times, weapons on the map, and no load outs. It’s a -Yoink- otherwise and a real pain in the -Yoink- to play with unpredictability

Yeah, the Ravine, Impact and Erosion premade maps NEED to be put into the pool of maps in War Games. They’re great maps and the Settler variant on Ravine fondly reminds me of the Hemorrhage days of Reach.

Yeah, I saw Impact and I was like wtf, why isn’t this in the list of choices? It’s aesthetically beautiful, too

I agree with OP. I can’t believe someone is on here defending Complex. That map is terrible. Solace is very obstructed, looks like a 8 year old slapped it together in 10 minutes.

You know what gets old? People who write in huge red font like their opinion matters more than everyone else.

And master tallness, one of the major complaints about Reach was that the maps were all forge maps that people hated. Then there were like 4 remakes of old maps, how is that considered mostly ripped from the campaign. The cage came out of campaign? You confuse me.

If I’m correct, once all of the planned map packs are added and if we see the forge maps integrated we’ll have a total of 22 maps in the game.

This is one less than Halo 2 on the xbox had after all of its map packs came out, 23. If they come out with more, Halo 4 might end up being the Halo game with the most unique maps. Considering the most I think a Halo game has had so far on the xbox would be Halo 3 at 25?

What I think of the maps:

Haven: Awesome
Adrift: Great
Solace: Great
Abandon: Bad
Complex: Bad
Exile: Good
Ragnarok: Decent
Vortex: Decent
Meltdown: Decent
Longbow: Good

Using colourful fonts helps make your posts look unique and stand out. This way, people more likely notice your post rather than skipping over because it may look monotoned, or too “TL;DR”.

It’s pretty fun, you should try it.

9 more maps are coming in the next 6 months? where did you get this info

I don’t know how you don’t know this, there’s even a map pass you can buy to get all of them when they come out for 15% off.

Exile has zero symmetry…

Mr. Orange is right, we need to use one size fits all. And we’re not in the least racist against any colors.

If the maps are getting old and boring perhaps your playing too much multiplayer, custom games are there, enjoy.

I called him out because he made his font huge. Nothing about the color bothered me, just thought it was unnecessary. Yeah, I guess my post was too “mono-toned” and way too long to read. I know how to use colors; I just don’t want to come across like I think my opinion matters more than anyone else’s. That’s how I feel about it.
