The idea to make this thread only really came to mind after a game of BTB where there were a few people spouting some pretty horrible things (I won’t get into but basically they were being VERY racist) but I couldn’t see who it was because the post-game menu shows nothing, none of the other players that are in the post-game lobby. And neither does then pre-game lobby, we instead get a bunch of boxes with emblems and no names. What the hell?
What was wrong with the Halo 3 / Reach menues with a simple list of gamertags with emblems on the side of the screen, with a microphone icon to indicate who is talking? Having that option to scroll through players and look at their amour, gamertags, emblems and FILE SHARES (I’ll get to that in a second) instantly adds to the social aspect of a multiplayer game. In Halo 4 we got an awkward deck of virtual cards to access players’ info and in Halo 5 we got nothing at all. I’ll be quick to say here that this isn’t all against 343, Bungie started nipping socialisation in the bud with Reach’s lack of pre-game file shares.
Now file shares. What is wrong with being able to look through file shares pre-game? It was great in Halo 3, it immediately got people talking and sharing. Notice how custom games went downhill with Reach when we couldn’t access file shares?
Just add the ability back to look through people’s file shares, look at other players’ Spartans and bring back the socialisation of Halo that marked the series’ success for over a decade!
