Spartan Kurt-051. Gets the old secret identity treatment when he gets sent to Onyx w/ Mendez to train up Spartan III’s. Lieutenant Kurt Ambrose.
But we know his real last name, and as far as I know he’s the only Spartan who’s last name has been disclosed. Trevelyan.
I bring this up, because Halo has a rich history of “borrowed” concepts.
I ran across another Trevelyan today while watching a movie on Netflix. This Trevelyan “died” in a standoff with the enemy, allowing his partner to escape and finish their job. Sound familiar?
This Trevelyan, however, survived. Hs is later revealed to be the antagonist, operating secretly under other identities throughout the movie.
The movie, by the way, revolves around a satellite in space that fires a pulse weapon capable of rendering its enemy impotent. Sound familiar? No. I’m not talking about Halo.
I’m talking about the movie GoldenEye. The character? Sean Bean’s Alex Trevelyan.
So I’m just going to throw that out there into the internets. I’m not going to postulize crazy theories about Spartan-051 coming back as a Covenant agent, or gathering Forerunner resources and mounting an two-front terroristic assault on the UNSC and Covenent (America and the USSR, anyone?) as both societies try to rebuild all the while enacting out some crazy “left to die by the people he served” revenge motive.
I’m just saying, out of all the Spartans, we only know one surname.
And surname happens to be the name of the antagonist in a popular movie franchise, showing up specifically in a movie regarding a post cold-war space object with a pulse weapon.
It’s a good thing they named the Onyx Sphere after him. You know, to make sure we all catch what his name is.
P.S. As I am watching this, right now, James Bond has jumped into a tank to chase after the cute little Russian satellite chick. It is the most ridiculous thing ever. But something caught my eye. There’s a number on the side and front of the tank.
Just watch this little clip. Its pretty apparent why this stuck out.
