First off I’d just like to say sorry for my rage-fest that occurred when the GI issue was leaked. It was wrong for me to just go off on 343 for doing what I thought was completely destroying the Halo franchise.
Well now that I’ve passed that stage, I’m in a new one. One of Hope, and at the same time, Disappointment.
I’ll start with the positive side of this.
It looks like Halo 4 will be a brand new Halo game. So many new features that we really know barely anything about, there’s a lot to look forward to. Spartan Ops could turn out to be fairly interesting, customizable loadouts may make the game more fun, and who knows, maybe even forerunner goggles may make the game better.
But now here’s my thought on the matter right now: 343 ignored all of us.
I don’t care if they’re introducing brand new features into the game to make the game new, but seriously? I thought 343 listened to their fans but after hearing that Armor Abilities are back, I guess not. Armor Abilities are the things that completely turned people away from Reach, so why would you ever decide to bring them back? The community was BEGGING you to either make them pickups, or not include them at all.
Now apparently, Sprint is a default as well. Can you imagine someone using Sprint AND JETPACK? That’s just ridiculous. Halo 4 may make 343 a successful industry but so far, all it’s going to be in my eyes is a big -BLAM- you to the fans who care about Halo the most.
Hopefully alot that has been complained about has been heard by 343, and they are tweaking it in some way. It’s still possible, so don’t be afraid to have hope.
Personally, I’m excited for Halo 4, I’d like to see some of the things in the GI issue changed, but if nothing is done about it I won’t be that dissapointed.
I think it’s a good thing that 343 didn’t listen to the fanbase. It’s a new trilogy, new developer team and new setting. It’s time to try out new things. Besides, if 343 left it to us fans, the game would never get done. We’ve all got differences in opinion and in the end the final decisions would alienate certain groups of fans (for example, some people like the BR and some people like the DMR, 343 decided to keep both of them). I have faith that 343 will keep some of the things that made the classic Halo games great but they also need to attract new people as well as get some of the old players back. Even Halo 3 lost a lot of people to COD and other shooters.
You complain about minor -Yoink-.
-Yoink- that really, if matchmaking wasn’t forcing you to play with it in the first place, would have no effect on you.
So stop wasting your time -Yoinking!- about AA’s and Bloom and w/e else you people will find a reason to -Yoink- about. And go after the root of the problem. Then maybe, you might be worth listening too.
IF you haven’t figured out what the root of all Halo’s problems are yet, Then you’re not worth listening too.
Armor Lock isn’t the problem.
When I hit that button to go into matchmaking and I’m given no choice in whether AL is present in the match that I am about to play is the problem. And in response to that problem, most of you tried to complain to get AL completely removed from the game. WRONG! You do not remove it from the game. You give each user more control over the type of matches they want to play.
Oh but wait, here it comes…the excuse every -Yoink- comes up with.
You can’t give us more control because it would spread the population too thin.
Really, I don’t blame them for ignoring you stupid -Yoinks!-.

Everyone is worth listening to.
Frankie said they expected the reaction they got. I wouldn’t be too worried until we actually see gameplay.

343 will never see your post. 343 will never see your post and be like hey…thanks guy…this guys cool lets commemorate him. All the mcnuggets that do that in hopes they are the cool guys arent.
I believe Halo 4 is being made the way it is so that players from Battlefield and COD can transition in to a familiar inviroment. They hope to have these people flow in and be comfortable with similar gameplay styles. Remember guys that gaming right now lies primarily in the younger generation under 20 years old. Rated M games or not. These little guys didnt grow up on Halo they came in on COD. COD isnt only a game its a trend.

I’m pretty sure he never said that. Feel free to prove me wrong.
Selfish people with selfish solutions are not worth listening too.
Whoever came up with the quit ban. WAS NOT WORTH LISTENING TOO!
Whoever thinks it’s more logical to just remove an element you don’t like from the game completely, rather than focusing on giving people more power to customize their search preferences… IS NOT WORTH LISTENING TOO!
I like jetpack, I like sprint, I like Bloom. You all tried to get it all removed so that I am being forced to play to your preference instead of my own.
Most of you have very selfish solutions to solve Halo’s issues.
The moment you start coming up with non-selfish solutions… that’ll be the day.
Here’s another good one. How many of you fought against a join-in-progress system and instead prefer the quit ban? Not worth listening too.

Not everyone is going to be pleased. Jetpack breaks maps, and sprint slows down gameplay. Bloom is awful, especially the way it was implemented in Reach.
No one is being selfish. Just because a portion of players prefer a more balanced game-style over a random and essentially broken play-style, doesn’t make them selfish. It means they have an opinion.

Do they do medals for these forums? Because you deserve one. That is exactly what I was thinking, these new features can easily be removed. The problem with Reach was that bloom and whatnot wasn’t optional, which put a few people off. With Halo 4, it looks like 343 are trying their best not to alienate people, something I’ve got to give them credit for.

Not word for word, obviously.
Exact quote: “We hardly take our forums seriously”.
Pretty much the same meaning as I said, in my eyes, but it can be taken in many ways I guess.
Sorry for the confusion.
Well at least Halo 4 will get alot of CoD players back they always wanted sprint as a default abilaty. And I think that halo 4 will not be bad as it looks they puched the graphics of that game to the limit and the sounds are really good and the weapons looks great and all.

Why would Halo get CoD players, when they could just play CoD?

Well maybe if people actually grew up and started being civil about things for once, they’d take their forums more seriously. People are complaining about features that they haven’t even seen in action yet, never mind playing the game and seeing for themselves. And 343 have actually said you don’t have to play Halo 4 with these new features if you don’t want to, so they’re not exactly forcing them on you. People aren’t exactly being fair about it, they’re getting the option to play classic gametypes, whereas those people are just saying “no, remove it all”, alienating the people who are actually looking forward to these new things.
Because CoD is the reason you need to rethink how you treat all the voices on your forum.
So because were just a small minority compared to the millions who don’t sign up to voice an opinion… is reason enough to want to ignore us? NO!
Because those millions of other people who didn’t speak up. They just moved on to another game.
Or rather, the 10 or so people I used to play Halo religiously with, are now CoD fans instead. But you’ll have never heard their voices, because they would never bother to sign up to the forum. They just move on to another game.
And here’s the main reason why they choose CoD over Halo.
CoD at least goes the extra mile to seperate all their playlist by GAMETYPE!
The only random factor is what map you’ll be playing the gametype on.
Now compare that to Halo’s random gametype and map, method of matchmaking.
And you wonder why quitting is such an issue?
TL:DR
To fix Halo, you need to get rid of all randomness associated with the way matchmaking tosses players in a match. Full control over what room people are placed in. Give us a Server Browser! Put Custom Matches at the forefront of the multiplayer experience.
