Im hyped for halo 4 but, Where the bleep is the halo movie?

We have been waiting since 2008 when the movie was put on hold and there is no news about it at all. There are so meny crap games that get movies so why is it that a good game never dose. Halo has the best story line of an game out a movie would be a cash cow. Yes I know the low budget halo films.

I’m going to be perfectly honest, the Bungie games don’t have the undeniably best storylines of any video game. Perhaps its in the running for best for shooters, but hardly the best.

Otherwise, you SHOULD be excited for the fan-created Halo films such as Operation Chastity, Halo: Helljumpers, Halo: Faith, etc. All look fantastic and have a production staff who only have nothing but love for the franchise.

No publisher wants to spend that type of budget for a movie based on a video game, which usually flops. It’s too risky. Wait until the Halo hype starts up again, then maybe a big-time publisher will gain interest.

To be honest, I’d rather that they don’t make a Halo movie. Video game movies have never been too too good, and unless they make a completely new story set in the Halo universe I doubt this will be any different.

There has been a lot of talk about this in Podtacular podcasts.

Making a live action film is connected with a lot of procedures wich would upset hardcore fans. Making a live action movie means, they will do everything to get theyr money back. That means making it for the widest publicum possible. That means involving well known action actors , making it easy to understand, less talk, more action. This way, it would totaly fail all of the fans expectations and eventualy harm game franchise.

Making a hardcore adaptation like LOTR lets say, is after tons of game-movie dissapointmets totaly unacceptable. The chances they actually get the money back is zero.

Podtacular guys have had an interesting idea of making full cgi Halo film. This way, they could keep the original voice actors, wich would avoid the posibilit of casting actors like The ROck, and other typical b-movie actors. With the CGI, they could even focus more on story and other Halo elements, becouse CGI movies have a lot of fans even if they are not familiar with the fiction it self.

Sorry for my grammar, i am not from english speaking country. Hope u all get my points.

The only thing we can do is just have some patients, and wait for something to announce the Movie

I don’t think it should be a movie, it’s better as a book and a game, the movie directors wont get it right, they will attempt to tell the story in 1hr and a 30min and it will fail, they will either rush it or make it really corny, like Dragonball Z or AVATAR legend of Ang. They never get these types of movies right.

The only way I reckon, that it will do well is if they DO NOT rush anything and assume everyone knows what Halo is and tell the story from half way in like Dragonball Z or Skyline. For the movie to be successful they need to start from the beginning and tell the story slowly and thoroughly with A LOT of detail and pay important attention to the little parts that make the difference.

They would really need to go into detail about the tech and the back story, to bring out the story more. What would make it even more amazing is if they spent allot of money on graphics and the development on alien languages and behavior. If they can do all those things and a little more then it will stand a very good chance at being as success.

I fit was a movie base it of one of the books because generally we see a lot of movies based of books and for the most part are good.

Except Twilight .

Probably never.

It would be a waste of money, I dont think I have to explain why.

The Halo movie was scrapped because studios funding the project backed out - Microsoft wanting too much of the profit cut. Then the Halo-movie director Neill Blomkamp got together with the Halo-movie producer Peter Jackson and instead created an original movie on their own called District 9.

If you watch closely, you can see some modified Battle Rifles used in District 9.

The movie business is tricky…

Microsoft could easilyfloat the bill, but they have said in the past “we are not a movie business” which might be why uncharted is going to become a movie. (Sony double dips)

As far as a halo Movie, I am not sure. When everything went down in south Africa and being so far into pre-production to have it all blow up it, it turned studios away. I believe there will be a movie adaptation on day (Frankie has big dreams) [not a pun for dream works studios] The right things just have to all fall in to place for it all to work out.

Halo Legends was entertaining at least!

I would rather have a direct to DVD CGI film than a live action movie. Imagine if they did it with the CGI form the Halo Wars cutscenes!

They said one of the hardest things about making this movie is trying to make one around a character such as John, one who has very few lines in-game, and make a complete movie on him. Usually the main character of a movie talks a lot, that’s a given. In this story, if they made one, they would have to have all the side characters do most of the talking which might confuse the audience overall.

Honestly I hope they do make one someday. If they do, they could always do a trilogy to get the complete story out and only do 1 part at a time like a lot of other trilogies go.

If they do a Halo movie, it should be based of Ghosts of Onyx.

I think that out of all the Halo plot-lines ive read(am only halfway through Glasslands) it is the one best suited for a movie. However, I’m pretty sure that ever since they began exploring the idea it was just going to be a movie version of CE.

Did you just say that halo doesn’t have the best storyline?? must be a typo

The Halo movie was cancelled.

Sorry.

The original Halo movie was cancelled in 2008. Since then, many directors have tried to get the rights to the Halo film, but as far as i’m aware, none have succeded. Steven Spielberg is extremely interested and is trying hard to get the Halo film rights. Apparently there are rumors floating around that a new attempt at a Halo movie is in progress with a tentative release date of 2012-2014. I for one loved Halo: Legends. As much as I would like to see a feature length anime Halo film, not an assortment of short stories, and a live action film, i’m gonna have to agree with everyone who suggested a CGI film. Why not have the guys who made the Halo: Legends episode The Package. They already have experience with it and would be perfect for the job. Not to mention it looked awesome.

I hope Peter Jackson decides to make it. I am really looking forward to a halo movie!
