The gameplay is crap. I expected way more than what we got. For the decision process for the finally missions must have gone something like this:
“It’s the last episode people! What should we do to make it memorable? Epic vehicle play? NO! Let them fly a Pelican again? NOOO! Throw in multiple groups of elites with sniper-accurate fuelrod guns and make them two times harder to kill? OH HELL YES.”
I was literally disgusted that I waited to 2am to finish the fight to play that heaping pile of trash gameplay.
I wouldn’t never pay money to play more Spartan Ops if it was anything like the first season. It is trash IMO.
It’s only saving grace is the cinematic episodes that go along with it. Which I’m giving a 9/10.
If anyone wants to tweet their displeasure to the designer of Spartan Ops, feel free to click this.
It would be a cool way to close the episode if we can fly the broadswords. That would be awesome But the map with the warthogs were cool it was a nice open area we could have had a mantis there. But they did do a great job though and i had no problem with it
I didn’t mind Spartan Ops. It wasn’t as bad as you say. Go through the game again solo and set it to normal so you don’t have such a huge problem the Fuel Rod gun and Snipers. It plays much better that way. I think Spartan Ops would be a lot better if it took more after Firefight ODST.
I still would have liked having a ODST Firefight more though Spartan Ops. I like the survival style of game play it offered way more. Reach’s Firefight was laggy and full of FRG/Jetpackers.
Well I actually quite like spartan ops, I would give the gameplay a good 7/10. Although I do agree that gameplay can at times be repetitive I loved almost every part of it despite its predictable nature. Even if you don’t like the gameplay the general concept of free episodic gameplay is unique and amazing
imma be generous and give it a 6/10 they came back gameplay and map wise but in overall story development and how things played out i give that a meh. It could of been so much better

> Fitting quote for the last episode. Didn’t really do anything memorable…at all…overall dull. The cutscenes though continued to be very nice to watch.
Requiem crashing into a star is considered a whimper? I’d like to see what you consider a bang.
“Requiem crashing into a star is considered a whimper? I’d like to see what you consider a bang”.
If pretty explosions and the idea of what happened are enough for you to look over the pathetic gameplay, especially for the last episode, you go ahead : )
I still don’t get why 343i is trying to kill Halsey… and now that she lost something valuable… makes things too serious on how they want characters to disappear.

I absolutely love it when people insult something without supporting their argument. It makes them seem so trustworthy.
The story was great. But the gameplay makes the same mistakes every first person shooter makes ALL the time. One could consider it the cardinal mistake.
FPS Rule #1: Don’t include bullet sponges. Especially if you give them a half dozen different types of one-hit kill weapons and then make them almost 100% accurate. And in Halo 4’s case, give them the ability to teleport away and regenerate their shields in one second. If you feel possessed to put in bullet sponges, give the opportunity to take them on BY THEMSELVES.
I’m sorry, but everything about Spartan Ops smacks of a lack of 343 actually trying out their creation before putting out to the masses. Four player Legendary SpOps missions that I’ve been in ROUTINELY have 30-40 Spartan deaths. 40 DEATHS. That is insane. I have a tremendous amount of experience with Firefight ODST and Reach Firefight and if SpOps is supposed to be the spiritual successor to Firefight, it fails miserably if you routinely see 40 deaths in a 10 minute mission. It doesn’t matter if you team shoot or if each guy does his own thing, the RESULT is always the same. 40 DEATHS. I want 343 to play through their own missions on Legendary 4 player and get less than 5 deaths total. Put them online. Three attempts per mission. If it’s possible, then that should be sufficient. I will actually put money on 343 NOT being able to play their own missions and make it through them with only a few deaths. Less than 5 deaths would show their SKILL. Because I don’t think that there IS any skill in Spartan Ops. It’s just throw a bunch of bullet sponges with one hit kill weapons onto a board, run us around to a bunch of buttons to push and call it a day. It could be so much more if I felt that I could actually survive a mission intact, but that element is so far gone, I’m not sure 343 can find it.

Wow, seriously, 40 deaths, no wonder you don’t like a part of the game if you’re terrible at it.

Yeah, it kinda sounds like you just ran at the Fuel Rod Elites, and expected things to turn out differently.
Well since I actually understand the story and the interactivity the missions bring into the story. Perfect 10.
Oh and by the way, nice job putting David Ellis’s Twitter into your thread, you wanna know what happened to the last dude who attacked him, he got ignored and was disgusted upon on the forums.
I haven’t seen any displeasure tweeted to him yet though, nice how your so desperate for people to attack him.
I feel what some of the others are saying above, I loved FF, and it does seem odd that in SO some players do seem to just get killed time and time again, to rack up kills as dying means NOTHING in this game. I dont usually go above 7 or 8 deaths a mission, but try to keep it below 5. I do not get the same enjoyment out of SO as I got from FF. But each to their own, I do play it none the less.
But I do love the cut scenes they are very well done, and I look forward (unto dawn :)) to the movie being released shortly!
