This isn’t a hate thread or anything like that. I’m not really sure the purpose of it actually… but, here we go anyway.
In the past month to two months, I’ve been finding it more and more difficult to enjoy this game. Especially compared to past Halo’s like Halo 3 and Reach… hell, even Halo 4. This game just feels way too serious, too competitive. Social Slayer and BTB, gamemodes meant to be fun, are just as “sweaty” as Slayer or Team Arena, if not more at points. It’s hard to play and not think about wins and loses now.
It may be because I’m older or something like that, but I know back in Reach(last game I really enjoyed MP wise until Halo 5) I never cared about K/D or W/L. Now I’m constantly freaking out when I’m losing 5+ matches in a row, acting like it’s the end of the world. Same goes for K/D, but not as much.
I don’t want to not enjoy this game, Halo 5 is the most fun I’ve had with online gaming in a LOOONG time. But as I said above, I’m just finding it more difficult as times goes on. Well, this should finish things up… thanks for reading if you got this far, and have a nice night.
So do you Want me to miss on purpose, or stand still and make it easier for you sweetheart? Halo 5 is a competitive game, so yeah, im not going to play to lose
Halo 5 has this competitive umbrella that is unavoidable. I too have been caring about W/L K/D way more then other titles. S: Sweaty gameplay is fun to a certain point. This game is in need of some more playlist like action sack and…
I get what you are saying OP. Halo 5 is great but it is a bit of a one trick pony. It lacks a wacky mode. Fiesta is about as close as they’ve gotten. No matter what game mode, if you are 2-10 it’s miserable. The only way to have fun is win. For whatever reason some FPS games are fun even when losing.

^This. I was about to say this. I find my self caring a ton whether I’ve died multiple times in a row, I get a negative K/D in a match, or if I’m losing lots of games. I’ve been recently been playing Halo Reach on the Xbox One as a nice break from Halo 5, and there is a clear difference on how much I care about these things. As said above, it generally only is fun if you’re winning. I don’t know why, and I don’t normally feel this way towards other games. I guess Halo 5 just really brings out the competitive side. Halo just is not the same as it was.

Your feelings are due to a lack of party game modes and game modes that have been there forever… INFEEEEECTION

He’s not saying make the game less competitive, he’s suggesting that there be more than just competitive play. Too much is bad. They’ve added all these features that are appealing to CoD and BF players (such as KD) and they take the fun out of the game. Yeah sure, it’s fun to brag but now if you don’t have a good KD you become a laughing stock. You become more concerned about being good that you no longer play for pleasure. Every death feels 10x worse, inciting rage. Before you just shrugged it off. No one wants an easier Halo, it should be challenging to be good at, but no one wants an over the top CoD-like competitive shooter.

Boom, right here. You explained it much better than I did. I don’t want it easy, or to just go up against bad players. But this game is too over the top with its competitiveness.
That’s why I liked Reach and 4, it had Firefight and Spartan Ops, so if I was burned out on MP, I could just go have some fun and kill AI.
It’s hard. I was porrly motivated until I found friends to play with. It’s much better that way. Look for a spartan company that is active and you will have much more fun.

I currently lead a full Spartan Company, and mainly play with my close friends. We all have this same mindset of it being fun, but not always worth it because the way the game runs.
I find this when playing with my gf,I regularly carry all games but sometimes I get paired with crap teammates and get completely washed and then my rank goes down lol.

Halo use to be about fun first.
No wonder Halo is going down the tubes. They forgot what made it popular

That’s sorta how I feel. Like I don’t really even want to play right now because I can’t play with my friends… because my mic is broken and they have all gravitated away from Halo 5 for a bit.
So getting on and grinding for golds is really tedious as of late.

Like remember back in the older titles, you could be losing and still have a fun time(in some modes). I just can’t see that being the case in Halo 5, especially in Arena. It’s just way too serious all the time. Even Fiesta was super competitive when it was here… Fiesta! I thought it was supposed to be a laid back mode… but I couldn’t have been farther from wrong.
I’ve got the same problem, OP…
I never got angry because of a video game, but since I’m playing Halo 5 it happens over and over again. I started ignoring the ranking and my K/D (at least I try to) so I can enjoy the game more than before and concentrate more on just having fun. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose, guess that’s life
