I’m excited, they’re really tickling my nostalgia bone and I have high hopes though I am scared. I’m worried about Microtransactions. Like many of us, we don’t like em, uh uh but there are those who believe it’s okay as long as it’s only cosmetic, which is fair though I’d like to earn my cosmetics too. It provides a real sense of progression like in Halo 3 when you got all the skulls you got Hayabusa or doing all the vidmaster achievements and getting Recon. In Halo 5, I felt no real progression. Those packs are just wrong, I can’t stand them. I think I should earn my things, not win them with a raffle ticket. That’s just my thoughts, I find packs from all games (e.g. Supply Crates in Call Of Duty)to be very predatory and take power away from the player. I want my wallet to be left be but I also want a fun progression system with real rewards, Halo 5 gave you a pack which never had a single good item for leveling up for chrissake. Discuss?
I think these are valid concerns. I have hope in 343 that the microtransaction system in Halo Infinite is less predatory and more consumer-friendly. 343 has listened to us in terms of “more classic art style” and “more classic music”. I hope they have listened to us regarding the REQ system and find a better solution to that problem.
I would like to add that “no microtransactions” in Halo Infinite is an unrealistic expectation. Games are a business and are supposed to make money. The best we can hope for is that monetization practices in games are less predatory than they have been.
One thing is for certain: 343i is definitely playing the nostalgia card with Infinite’s anesthetics and art direction. It’s a refreshing change of pace from Halo 4-5 which both- to me- put forward the attitude of “We know you think you like classic Halo art style and design, but just hang in there and you’ll come around on our way.”
As far as the business practices and revenue streams built into the game? They’re going to be there given that this is a AAA blockbuster title in the industry as it exists today. There are more and less pernicious was of implementing these things, though. Hopefully they can strike a balance that most fans view as acceptable.
I’m more concerned that 343i will give us the aesthetic of Halo 1-3 that we’ve missed so much but tie it too heavily the narrative faults of the Reclaimer games.
Be optimistic and trust 343. By the time Halo Infinite is released, it will have been five years since the release of Halo 5: Guardians. Five years is a long time to ensure everything is perfect.
IMO Req packs are good as long as there is an amour progression system and one for REQs in Warzone as well, meaning that you should only get weapon skins packs (Hope no one rants at me after saying that.)
i’m more worried about the off chance of spartan charge and ground pound coming back

I agree wholeheartedly. I hate that warzone favours people who buy packs and I support your pregression idea 100%
Well if Infinite becomes anywhere near the mess that was Halo 5 it wouldn’t be the first time I turn my back on the franchise leaving me only with fond memories of that era of Bungie and their games. That being said I hope it is the first good halo game that 343i has made. They have already been given enough chances so giving them one more is more than generous. But 343i doesn’t seem to be a leader in the genre or the industry and H4 the CoD in space and H5 the lootbox casino are proof of that. We have been given next to nothing on the design of the next game so to think that it would turnout anything other than the past 2 games is a fools hope.
Fool me once…
Well you’ll be happy to hear there won’t be any paid loot boxes this time around. Don’t know if there won’t be any loot boxes at all, I’m hoping not. There definitely will be mtx though, I just hope they’re not gameplay intrusive or predatory.
