I'm done with halo 5

Before the cliche “bye” comments come in, this is not a rant about why halo 5 sucks. I’m simply burnt out and have nothing else to do in halo 5 for me to continue playing it, it’s a good game but it is incredibly short. When I’ve gotten every req there is almost no other reason to play this game. The campaign is boring and the missions are just lazy and uninspired. There is virtually no offline support, there is nothing other than the Req grind to keep me enticed where as halo reach had challenges and unlockable armour along with HUGE customisation. Forge is great yes, but I can’t play any custom games for several reasons.

  1. Most of my friends stopped playing halo 5 the first week it came out because of the lack of content.
  2. The most important game mode for custom game types (infection) did not arive at launch and because the game is so big (just under 100GB) my friends don’t want to reinstall it.
  3. Several game modes are still missing. Where is race? Oddball? Invasion? I could go on but where are they?

Firefight is also a huge downgrade from previous versions and the only insensitive to play firefight is to get new reqs, there is no survival element at all, if anything it’s the enemy’s who should be the ones hiding considering how much we need to hunt them (kill X amount of grunts, watchers etc).

MP is one huge sweat fest, with 0 social aspects to it. To make things worse the rank system is just boring and uninspired, i don’t feel the need to rank up my character because I don’t care about a number, I would rather have the traditional ranks from older halo’s which represented military ranks.

Also, people don’t seem to understand how important character customisation is to extending the lifespan of a game. Look at any loot based game, giving players objectives and challenges to follow to unlock a piece of gear to customise their character adds a huge amount of play time to the game. Having an RNG system only gets you so far, which is why the people who have quickly unlocked everything from RNG have nothing to do afterwords because of how easy and unrewarding it was.

Halo 5 was a good game for some short fun, but it isn’t ground breaking, and it hasn’t convinced me to play for years like halo reach and 3 did. Maybe halo 6 will but we will have to see

It’s interesting how different people perceive games. I don’t give a toot about customization or how the ranking system is visualized and those things are obviously really important to you. Functionally, a SR 130 could be a Colonel grade 2 in a different game, but they mean the same thing to me. I am all about core gameplay. I’ve never gotten tired of shooting a magnum at an enemy spartan, no matter how many millions of times I’ve done it.

Byesies! All my best.

welcome to the not playing halo 5 club :ok_hand:

It may not be interesting to you, but you can’t deny that customisation and armour rewards through achievement extends play time considerably.

Cool beans. Have fun playing something else.

It’s short… yet there’s endless replayability in trying to improve and rank up in Arena?

I personally don’t like the Arena gameplay (at least for slayer) , therefor there is no replayability for me there. I also stated why I don’t feel the need to rank up.

I don’t understand players like you that need a carrot in front of you to have a reason to play it. Every single title- (Halo, Gears, Battlefield, Grand Theft Auto) I play, I play because its fun. I enjoy the battles. I don’t play because I have some OCD obsession that I must unlock stuff. You guys get burnt out because you are “working” instead of focusing on the fun. When I find a game that’s fun, truly fun, I play it for years, Why? Because it is fun.The fun might be the comedy in it, the fun might be the intense close battles. the fun might be wondering if I can be as good in the next match as I was in the last match. I really think there is now a whole generation of gamers that really don’t know what fun is. 15 to 20 years ago, Games didn’t have lots of stuff to unlock. You played them because they were fun, you played with your buddies not to unlock stuff, you played because you had fun playing with and against your buddies. That seems to be completely lost on a whole generation of gamers.

I don’t find the multiplayer gameplay fun anyway, the slayer aspect at least. I do enjoy infection and griffball, but 2 game modes aren’t enough. Having other incentives however would extend playtime for more players and would thus give the game a longer life span.

yeah welcome to the club man, I am a huge Halo fan and Halo 5 sucks big time, the only Halo releated activity I do is come to these forums and whine about it
you’re welcome

You want to earn your armor, yet you bring up Halo Reach? Even Halo 4 would have net you a better argument than that.

The only thing preventing you from getting every armor in the game was your “rank”, which can be farmed, and the amount of credits you have, which also can be farmed, and farmed easily. It’s basically the REQ packs without the randomness factor.

You “unlock” 95% of the armor halfway through the rank list.

The older Halos (especially Halo 3) ranked you from 1-50… Unless you’re talking about the social side of things, which you probably are.

Are you sure you’ve played the older Halos?

I don’t even know why I’m trying so hard. This account doesn’t have any game time in any game. Chances are it’s an alternate account.

I bring up reach in terms of it’s customisation (it out matches halo 5 in every way) and in terms of replayability. Daily and weekly challenges gave players more incentive to play. Halo 3 on the other hand although not as much armour as reach gave the players far more intensive to play than halo 5’s armour system did because it encouraged the players to earn their armour through achievements (member recon?). Halo 5 on the other hand is entirely RNG.

Halo 3 allowed you to rank up in terms of military designation and skill which i found more appealing than a simple 1-100 system. Even the bronze onyx system in halo 5 is boring. I personally find military designations more appealing than what halo 5 has done.
And yes this is an alternate account, my Xbox one was banned for “flaming”.

Reach had a lot more customization, but all of them were unlocked the same way. Spend cR, and get it. You have absolutely zero incentive to get every armor. Even I myself only have 30% of the armory bought, because there’s no point for me to unlock armor I’m never going to wear. It’s Halo 5 minus RNG.

And again, this isn’t taking into account that cR (and rank, which is directly tied to cR) can be farmed, and custom challenges allowed you to get like 100,000 cR every half hour. You don’t need to reach those stand alone titles like Mythic or Hero to get most of the armory.

Halo 3 allowed you to rank up in military designation in their social games, which factored how many wins you had, while ignoring how many losses. In their ranked gamemode, it was a complete 1-50 rank. In fact, people have been asking for that 1-50 rank back since Halo Reach, and Halo 5 was the only game that had an actual competitive side of the game since then.

At least you’re upfront about it unlike many others. I like that.

Unless you’re on a smurf account, you haven’t played the game at all according to your Service Record… But still, I agree on the rewards by achievements.

If you don’t find the MP gameplay fun that’s understandable. Not every game can be for everybody. I’ve been gaming for 38 years. I only have been playing MP games for about 5. I didn’t enjoy it and then one day I did. The beauty of multiplayer is it never plays out the same. That’s why I never get bored with it. But if you don’t like it, I would strongly recommend playing Action Sack and when you play it. play it for what it is. It is designed to be very simple fun, not to be taken seriously. If you get beat really bad, laugh it off and play again. the gametype weapon combinations can be hilarious. If you can’t have fun in action sack, I can’t help you and good luck to you.

This is the entirety of the reason that I have remained so dedicated to playing halo 5
I play it because it is fun, not because i want to unlock things
sure unlocking things is part of the fun, but it shouldn’t be what controls everything else you do in game
