I can deal with all the minor issues with weapon loadouts, crappy map selections to vote on, etc, cuz at its heart, H4 is still a great game. A game I have the most fun in multiplayer… Until the last few months. Now every match I play has at least 2 mouse users on the other team.
I play with a group of my best friends - all controller users, and we used to win 60% of our games. Now there are as many mouse users playing as there are controller users - at least at the late night Friday night times that we all get together. And we’re lucky to win 2-3 games during the night.
Well 343, you’ve let this go on for long enough. You should have created playlists specifically for mouse users or somehow separated them from the controller users. I can immediately tell when a mouse user is in the match at startup because their K/D is usually above 1.7 or so. Confirmed in kill am when I die and see the dude do a 180 and disrupt what should have been an easy assassination. It’s like playing someone with an extra aiming perk that’s always turned on. It makes for an unbalanced gaming experience. MW 3 actually deals with this issue.
You all are tweaking weapons when you should be fixing this issue. I know you are losing people due to this because most of my H4 buddies feel the same way and I’ve seen a poll where 66% of players view it as cheating.
So as big of a fan as I am ( I’m 41 years old and have been playing Halo since it first came out until now) and after what, 15 years ? of loving Halo, I am shelving my copy of Halo for good because this is has completely ruined the experience for me. I have no fun in getting killed by someone who is given an advantage simply because he is playing with a superior mouse and keyboard setup and can turn on a dime. I’m done with this crap.
well halo is only 12 years old, and I’ve never heard of mouse users on the xbox… I’m not doubting that your telling the truth, but you shouldn’t let that that turn you off to the game. Just because someone’s K/D is above 1.7, doesn’t necessarily mean that they are using a mouse. I know quite a few people with higher K/D ratios than that, that use controllers. I’m pretty good at doing 180’s and getting right on people (pretty easy considering the amount of auto-aim in this game) If there really are mouse and keyboard users, I’m sure that I’ve dumped on quite a few of them. Just turn your sensitivity up and play a little harder.
Also a lot (and I mean A LOT) of people go into dominion with full teams and back out against anybody they think will give them trouble and farm easy kids for high K/D’s. Some of my best games are against people with insane K/D ratios.
In fact just yesterday I was playing dominion with one other person, and an entire team backed out of dominion before the game started, just because they probably figured a few of us would give them trouble and they wouldn’t be able to go 28 and 3.
So to wrap this all up, just don’t let randoms who care about stats get you down. If you’ve been playing this game as long as you say you have. Then you played Halo before they even tracked K/D. My style of play doesn’t grant me an extreme K/D, I put shots down and run flags and hold oddballs. I personally don’t care about stats and just play to play Halo. Actually I kind of like my low K/D, it’s a nice troll for kids with high K/D and I know when they get stomped in CTF and Throwdown, They are just sitting on the couch wondering what just happened to them…
You can use a mouse and keyboard in Xbox games? This is honestly the first I’ve ever heard of this. How could you even tell if people can do it? They might just play on a high sensitivity.
Gotta had it to you, this is the first time I’ve heard this cited as a reason for leaving Halo 4…
After a quick search apparently mouse/kbd is something people do, but honestly I find camping, unbalanced teams to begin with, clans vs. randoms,“pro MLG” people who can hide in a crevice and horde power weapons, actual MLG people who are just plain better and all sorts of other more obvious stuff would be a problem before mouse/kbd…
As Eyes on Enemies said, I have a friend who has well over 2.0 K/D and uses a controller. My K/D isn’t that great but it’s mainly cuz I like to play “rush” in style on Capture the Flag a lot. Personally I’ve also done 180 assassination interrupts because we have this thing called a radar and as Assassin said (heh, very fitting name for this example) I play with maximum sensitivity on a controller.

So completely besides the point. As I said, there are so many more issues with multiplayer before you get to this and they should focus on weapon tweaking. As for if it’s cheating, maybe it is, maybe it isn’t, but that’s mainly based on people’s gut feeling rather than actual tests between controller only teams and evenly skilled keyboard/mouse teams. You can no more say keyboards are an advantage over controllers than you can say someone who mastered “bumper-jumper” has an advantage over a default control scheme player. Or that people who use that silly looking control stick add on have a superior advantage over everyone. The past has shown that it really comes down to who has better skill and who is more comfortable with what. If they are comfortable with a keyboard/mouse and are skilled then obviously they’ll do well but it says nothing about if they get matched up against an equally skilled controller player. We shouldn’t start a witch-hunt for it, but we should observe.
> I have no fun in getting killed by someone who is given an advantage simply because he is playing with a superior mouse and keyboard setup and can turn on a dime.
This for instance is not a definitive test nor good evidence. Try “Insane” sensitivity on a controller, I assure you I/we who use it can turn on a dime as well.
The use of a mouse would have to be included by the developers of HALO, and seeing as how HALO does NOT go the PC route, you can’t use a mouse on HALO 4…
I have never heard of the ability to do this. I just dug into it a bit further and saw that there is a product called a “Xim Edge” that allows you to do this… I assume if you get caught using one of these that you are in violation of modifying your system and will get console banned.

The rest of his post since it’s all relevant:
> Keyboard and Mouse have been available for Xbox since the original Xbox. First there was Smart Joy Frag, then there was the XFPS, and now there are a whole slue of mouse and keyboard adapters for Xbox 360. Without any doubt, the best mouse and keyboard adapter available for the Xbox 360 is either XIM3 and/or XIM Edge.
>
> These adapters do not give PC quality control, all they do is emulate the Joystick. There is still acceleration, there is still a max turn rate. These adapters are bound by what the joystick and game allow. The XIM3/Edge have something called Smart Translators which provide as-good-as-it-gets 1:1 translation, but even with a Smart Translator, its still not PC quality control.
>
> XIM is not skill in a box. It will not give you perfect aim. It will not compensate for bad decisions, lack of map knowledge, or bad teamwork. All XIM (and other sub-par adapters) does is provide an input solution for people who dislike the joystick.

I don’t understand. OP got beaten and now he is blaming it on someone else and that they are potentially using a mouse and keyboard instead of taking the blame and getting better?
You’re -Yoinking!- with us right? First off since when have people been able to use a mouse on Xbox 360 and second, if so, how can you tell? Ever think maybe they just have their controller sensitivity turned all the way up?
I have one but never really used it for fps games. I mainly bought it so when I am on my PS3 I could use a 360 controller (since you can also swap controllers on consoles with it too).
I did once try a bot match with it in Black Ops II and it’s legit but if you are already good with aiming on a controller it’s not some all-in-one easy mode as some claim. Plus the fact if I am gunna game with a mouse and keyboard I’d rather be on my pc anyways with better graphics and faster framerate.
In the end regardless of device while a mouse and keyboard is more precise a player’s skill still is a huge factor. I think OP you just went against very good players who have good aim with a controller.
OP, the guy isn’t using a mouse. He is using high sensitivity. I play on 10(Insane), and I do what you are saying to people often. Up your sensitivity, it takes awhile to get used to, but trust me, it’s worth it. You’d e surprised at how disoriented another player gets when they think they have the drop on you and you just 180 headshot to the face them.
