Just wanted to call it now so i can tell my friends I told you so in about 2-10 years from now. Its all about living life in the future, so i’m calling it now.
Locke is MC’s sibling who aspired to become some one of great important after his cousin/brother died. Maybe kind of like in an Anakin Skywalker style “I’ll prevent death from happening one day!” So he joins Oni only to find out that his childhood friend is actually still alive and was inducted into the Spartan Program. Another reason why Locke signed up for the mission toe finally find his long dead brother/cousin.
Master Chief’s name is John Locke! Has a ring to it right.
If anyone else made a post about this sorry, if i missed it but i totally agree with you.
> But…there’d be no motivation to find his dead friend/brother. Because he’s dead. Seams nonsensical, though not impossible.
The orgnial motive is that he was sad by Johns death so to prevent others he love from dying he joins Oni to try and find a way to prevent death. that’s why i and the Anakin Skywalker Quote. After joining Oni and spending years as a secret agent he finds out that MC is his sibling and wants to find him.

Wait are you saying that just because a person voice actor is a certain race than the character is that race? That would mean that Brick from Borderlands is Black when he clearly isn’t.
I have to say the odds of him being an only child is very likely but no cousins or an other extra family sounds a bit weird. That’s why i said they could be related. That’ more than just brothers, that pretty much anyone who you consider to be family.
He’s not a voice actor. It’s Live Action. Mike Colter is Locke, physically.
Unless they’re keeping him in a helmet the whole time… which would be a bad idea for characterization.

Sorry, i misread that as him being the MoCap body and voice actor in-game instead of him actually acting play him as a character.

Umm… Well that’s a rather… Interesting theory… I can’t say that I really agree with it at all though… It would be extremely out of the blue, and there’s no real reason for them to be related.
As far as I’m concerned, Chief first name is John and his last name is 117. But, I will admit, John Locke does have a nice little ring to it.
But I don’t see this being the case.
John was taken from his childhood life when he was all of six years old. ONI replaced him with a flash clone, that would later die of natural causes. Whatever family John had, they believe he’s dead.
Speed ahead a few decades. John has become the Master Chief. But, remember, the Spartan program has yet to go public, so there’s still now way John’s former relatives knows he’s still alive and kicking.
Now I’ll go to your theory. Locke joins ONI after John ‘dies’. However, ONI isn’t going to recruit another little kid without the Spartan program. Locke will have to wait a few more years.
These years finally go by, Locke is introduced into ONI, and by the looks of it, becomes a SPARTAN-IV.
However, if Locke DOES become an IV, he’s gone through ruthless training, and then even more ruthless training to become a part of ONI. So, by the time he does, and say he IS John’s sibling, John is still presumed KIA after the Ark and Forward Unto Dawn events of H3.
And, I think that the ‘found out he’s still alive’ relationship is already happening with Halsey. John claims she’s the only person who ever felt like a mother to him. And, during Spartan Ops, Halsey discovers that Chief is still alive… and then is furious at the UNSC for not telling her, and well… things ho downhill from here.
He’s a flash clone of John by ONI for their own use.
ONI, having superior cloning technology than they made available to Hasley, cloned John after acknowledging his abilities along with a few other priority Spartans to use and train as their own high stakes operatives.
-or-
He’s actually a Spartan II that was abducted by ONI right after the final augmentation process and replaced with a flash-cloned corpse. He’s been secretly trained by ONI so that they would have their own “Super trooper” on hand for what ever missions they would need a Spartan for.
The top intelligence agency isn’t going to let the standard UNSC have the best war toys are they?
