Ok, I’m from the good old UK, because I’m British I understand I will never get host in a game, ever
But why on earth is it so laggy for us British, I have the best Internet us British can buy and when I play online I always get destroyed by total nonsense, its not once or twice a game it’s literally every time, I don’t know why but the host is always a low ranked person and every game I play/join especially in the last few weeks has been total rubbish, red bars and “rubber banding” in every single game I play. I’ve been trying to get my CSR to 50 in flood I got it up to 48 a cupple of weeks ago, now for some reason every game I play, no matter what I do, shoot, punch, melee, t-bag whatever I always die after I kill somebody who is flood.
I’ve been playing halo since halo ce and been on xbl since halo 2 and this is just unforgiving, I try and I try to play and enjoy this game but I’m getting pooped on every single time by total unfairness.
Ok fair enough I’ve raged on here a few times but all I’m asking is you sort the host out, why is every game red bar and laggy as hell because a CSR 6 has the host (always seams to be the lowest rank) for honest playing people to play.
Don’t even know why I’m wrighting this nobody is going read it.
It’s not because your Internet is bad, it’s because Americans have inferior Internet.
It’s doing my head in, my ping is 12 my download is 93.6mbps and my upload is 27.9mbps, and I never get host, I do understand why I never get host because I’m 3000 miles away from 343i studios, but what I don’t understand is why every game is very laggy and why lower ranked people are always host, I’ve played 9 games tonight and to my shame I’ve rage quit 4 of them due to total nonsense and blood boiling lag
^ Has a bad connection, blames it on the people with better connections than him. Because that makes sense.
On topic though, was this a problem with the other Halos or do you think it’s 343’s netcode specifically?
When I used to play Halo 4, usually Americans got host, this means the ping between you (and me) and the host Xbox is usually in excess of 100 m/s. It is mainly because of the low population why the connection is as bad as it is, but it isn’t helped by having no match-making filters.
There is very little you can do to change this.
> It’s not because your Internet is bad, it’s because Americans have inferior Internet.
It’s all about how far the information has to travel. The longer the distance the bigger the lag time.
Also, the Spanish and Mexicans generally have very poor internet, if they are host the host Xbox has a rough time continually updating the game therefore lag is prevalent in games hosted by them.
I’m British too but I must disagree as I find connections are generally above average. Were the population playing this game higher it might be a little better, but its still playable. Good net code and hit detection help towards that.
Some games are terrible, but as an on-line game it comes with the territory.

Wow that really good internet! I’m in Canada and I don’t even get that.
I think maybe your not pulling host because the game defaults to American host, or defaults to the majority of people’s location. So if more Americans are in a room, it becomes an American host. I don’t know for sure.
I played early in the morning and I got a few Mexican host and one Japanese host. Maybe you need to try playing at a different time of day.
My Internet is the best us British can buy, and I did a Internet speed test to see if my Internet wasn’t playing up and I got the above, so my Internet is not the problem, I don’t know what is going on but in the past cupple of weeks this game has been getting worse and worse due to the lag
> I played early in the morning and I got a few Mexican host and one Japanese host. Maybe you need to try playing at a different time of day.
I would but I work during the day, the only time I can play is normally a Friday night or a Saturday night. It used to be fun but its just awful lately, sometimes like last week I played about 30 games and all I wanted was 1 game what wasn’t laggy, 1 game in which I didn’t die through total bull, I never got it :’(
My CSR in flood has plummeted from 48 to 42 due to this lag and its frustrating has heck
Halo 4 is on really bad servers. Games are regularly laggy even for North Americans. So we are right there with you.
But believe me when I say just not being North American isn’t why you never have host. A lot of the “best players” I know are British and only seem so good because they get host every game against full teams of North Americans. It’s frustrating.

I think it’s this game, I’m in a more rural part of Scotland and I have serious problems with match making, either it takes ages to find games or I get lagged out,
To be honest it does not happen all the time, I do get good games, but it happens way more than in Halo 2, Halo 3 and Reach, in games like Gears 3, Judgement, and Battlefield I have no issues at all,
My connection speed is a fraction of the OPs’, that’s due to what we have available here, no fibre yet, but it’s a good connection with little or no outside interference,
Many gamers think speed equates to quality with net connection, that’s not always the case, I think it’s this game, and I agree with the op.
Being that I’m a gamer from the Midwest of the United States, it’s still very laggy to play this game at times. I honestly think it’s just this game. I still play Gears 3 and have no problems with lag. I think it’s more of a Netcode issue than a population size issue though.
Why 343 didn’t included search filters?
I’m from Hungary (Middle-Eastern Europe) and I feels I’m forced to play with US hosts. There is a 6 hours difference between me and the East coast, so I’m usually pared with people from West coast, which is horrible for me. Not for them, because they are hosting every time! I don’t believe there are no people from Europe in the f*cking European time set! I have over 15 days in this game and at least 14 hours of black screen!
Come on 343, include a local search filter to your next game if it is not possible for Halo 4. As you can see many Aussie players gave up on this game, because they are forced to play with bad connection.
I’m feel myself handicapped for USA players, if it’s not their or my fault. With all due respect 343, I love your game, but this problem needs to be fixed in the first place. I’m speaking for many players, let me to quote from the Covenant Empire: “Our patience is not infinite!”

I agree, there’s a few Halo gamers in this town, and sadly, like myself they have not played for ages either.
Where have all the British Halo players gone? I use to get a lot of games with UK players now I rarely see them. I’m in the Asia/Pacific and am just glad we have a decent population of Halo players that we can manage to host our own games in a lot of playlists.

To other games, I have not played Halo 4 for ages, I have been on Battlefield PC, and Gears on the Xbox as far as shooters go, there’s only so much you can take before you get fed up and move on.

I don’t know but i am still here
OP: I know what you mean mate; I have died ALOT of times due to lag.
I may not have the best internet in the world but it’s pretty good, yet i am still faced with bad lag. You know what i find funny aswell? If you go on something like Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, I found their server’s fine and found a game within 5 second of search!
> I found their server’s fine and found a game within 5 second of search!
I would say the same, but not about the game you mentioned, we find the same with Gears, finds a game in seconds, if I’m staying in at the end it’s about 55 seconds max from finish until the next game starts, there is the odd hiccup, but not many.
Which leads you and obviously others like me and the OP and seemingly loads more to the conclusion it’s not our connections.

This pretty much sums up my experience with Halo 4. I’m in the Shetland Isles so you and I are relatively close ping wise.
The thing that completely stumps me is I can play Halo 3 against australians with little or no lag but Halo 4 was absolutely pitiful.
I’m from Illinois and I have a large group of friends from England that I play H4/Reach with and we’ve never had any issues with bad host except when we play people from a certain area infamous for having bad host.
