I’ve had this game since release and I keep telling myself it’ll get better. I even frequent these forums to see the discussions about the game in an attempt to support it, but this feeling that I have that 343 ruined the core game of halo is taking hold. I’m not going into detail because I’m trying not to rant, but I do want to know if these things are getting addressed or changed. Also would like to know how you feel about these things.
1.) Power weapons stacking on spawns: i.e. you can have a rocket launcher with a few rounds in it, and another will be counting down to spawn.
2.) Power weapons being overly emphasized: big icon on screen telling you where, voice literally telling you when it spawns, etc.
3.) Aim acceleration: custom aiming settings is appreciated and very much needed, but it only suppresses aim acceleration, not disables it. Aim acceleration is still prevalent.
4.) Motion tracker, FOV, and HUD: the FOV is narrow, motion tracker is short in range, and HUD takes up too much of the screen. The tracker covers such a small range, but the actual little radar on the screen is big. Combine that with a narrow FOV and It’s claustrophobic.
5.) No Splitscreen: I don’t get the whole “Xbox isn’t good enough to run splitscreen” deal. It’s more believable to think that they had zero intention to enable splitscreen to encourage people to buy more copies of the game. Not making accusations, but I feel like splitscreen could’ve been in this game. But I don’t make games so who knows?
I’m not going further because honestly I’m not trying to vent or rant or anything. I like this game, but these are just a few things that are putting me off. How do you guys feel? Enjoy it, or somewhat disappointed?

Split screen wasn’t added for a few reasons actually.
1 crappy outdated engine.
The game engine literally would not work anymore with split screen with how they wanted to make halo 5
2 even if the did have it it would only run at 30fps. Personally I think it is a bull crap excuse I would much rather deal with 30fps than not have split screen at all
They are pretty stingy with the ammo… so power weapon stacking would be minor/rare. Certainly hasn’t been a big issue for me.
Emphasis on the location / timing of power weapons is great. The cat and mouse of weapon spawning is fun.
It’s a console / controller game… some aim help is needed. I haven’t found it much different to previous games.
I hadn’t noticed any cramping of the screen. Is it much different to previous games?
Split screen was sacrificed for 60fps (and some visual quality went as well). I think it was a good choice (but I’m too old for split screen gaming anyway… damn kids can watch their screen and mine at the same time… it just makes me feel ill). It certainly worked for MS/343 as I now have 3x xbox ones and copies of Halo 5.
MCC took about 4 months to get it’s first proper update and after that they slowed down again leaving the game in a pretty big state.
Halo 5 has so far just received content that was started but unfinished before launch. Now that Forge is out I’d bet good money that you will see mostly skins each month. Maybe a new (i.e. slightly modified) weapon. and one new map every other month. Than there’ll be a “big update” in 5 months time.
I know 343i are earning money through the REQ system, but they will have moved every one over to Halo 6 now. Halo 5 has received the majority of the support it’s going to get.

The old “crappy outdated engine” runs at 60fps on xbox one with the MCC.
The real reason behind it all is that MS wanted 343i to do an online intensive game. This required a new engine. The new engine they built has clearly had issues or major changes late in development and this has caused the engine to not be able to do split screen (seriously it would break if it tried) and why you see old graphical problems. Like the ever so evident, short draw distance and low frames animations.
Tweaking and porting the old engine would have provided 343i with an engine that could do 60fps in single screen and 30fps in split screen. But I think trying to tweak the old engine to work exclusively with the cloud would have been too much work and they decided to start from scratch.
This is why only Campaign solo works offline in Halo 5, but many, if not most, features work offline in the old engine.

Denial as in I’m trying to convince myself that halo 5 is as good as the classic halos but it isn’t. I don’t understand what you mean.

Oh, my mistake. I sometimes take things too seriously and literally.

Because split screen is crap! It’s old & outdated and has been replaced by the internet. 60fps >>> Split screen.
