I'm bad at MCC, will I be ok in H5?

Compared to other people in MCC, i’m god-awful. I try and be a team-player, but everyone kinda does their own thing. I know i should get friends and play with me… but what if that option is not available? And me talking in game-chat will just get me hung by a rope due to the fact of my young age (14). And knowing that Halo 5 will be more focused on cooperative play whilst in Arena mode, i fear that after the first day… it will just be pros vs noobs in an all-out-slaughter house.

I know I should git gud… but that’s kinda hard when you get killed in 3 seconds as soon as you spawn… ;-;

Probably not, my advice is work on your aim, try to survive and make sure you’re aware of your surroundings.

Practice. My first halo game was halo 3 and I got torn to -Yoinking!- shreds with low kills and high deaths. I have improved since then to be pretty competive but I still need to git guider. Just practice, keep trying and you’ll get better.

Thanks!
However
I’m a pretty good shot
Surviving is hard when people need help and you die for them
Surroundings? I’ll work on it, but most of the time people jump out at me from nowhere

This is a bit of an issue with newbies.

I remember when I first played Halo MP on Halo 3. I got spanked game after game, but for some reason I stuck with it.

I’d urge you to do the same, IMO the mechanics/strategy of Halo MP are way ahead of any other game and it’s very rewarding when you get the hang on it. I’m no pro by any stretch of the imagination but I can hold my own most of the time, and I never play with friends or a headset.

A good way to learn is to pick the top player from the game you’ve just played and watch the game back in theatre from their perspective. See what positions they go into, and what weapons they use in which situation.

Key things

-Pick up a precision weapon
BR, DMR, Carbine, doesn’t matter make sure you grab one as soon as you can off spawn so you can defend yourself at a distance

-Don’t chase
If you’re shooting someone and fail to get the kill because they’ve ducked into cover, don’t chase them, either A: position yourself in an advantageous position for when they move from cover or B: move onto the next target.
chasing after them will only get you killed

-Learn the maps
This will be a little less necessary for H5 since the game essentially tells you where and when things will spawn, however its always a good idea to learn the map layouts and jumps and routes, learn choke points and how to get your opponent into them

-Grenade placement
I suggest going into a custom game and just throw grenades to learn how they work, their distance, how they bounce a perfectly placed grenade can turn the tide of the battle

-Communication
I know you said you think you will get hung by a rope for speaking, but honestly, don’t let that bother you or deter you. People are jerks, plain and simple don’t listen to them and just do your thing, call out communicate even if no one else is talking, they can hear you and giving your team information is the difference between winning and losing

-Stick with your team or a team mate as much as possible
Don’t stray too far from your team, and get caught out in 2 v1 or 3 v 1 positions you won’t last long

-Teamshot
Focus fire on targets, if you see your team mat shooting someone and can put fire on that same player do it, the faster you finish off one enemy the sooner you can move to the next, team shooting in halo is very important (IMO)

I’m far from being a pro player, I’m average at best, but hopefully these suggestions can improve your game

I’m sorry if i sound like a noob
I’ve been playing Halo since 2
I’m just not as good at the game like people who’ve been playing a lot

I am REALLY good at Halo 4 though! XD

Thank you very much!
I’ve been trying some of these…
Hopefully my chances improve!

The biggest thing with halo is having great aim, throwing off your opponent and knowing when to rush someone and when not to.

  • Also know your surroundings is very vital. You notice most of your team went right then dont go left. You see that your team is split and one guy is alone try to go and help him.

  • Aim is huge too as long as you have steady aim and you dont have a slow response time then you should be fine in that department. Also if you struggle with a certain weapon and someone on your team says they are good with it, allow them to use it.

  • Dont rush for a power weapon only to run at the enemy team with it and die. Obviously if you have a sniper than sit back and only rush with a team. Some people will rush with a sniper only to get double teamed and die.

  • Also watch team nading and learn when its good to throw a grenade and when its not. You would be surprised how many people will lose a 1v1 because they throw a grenade. The time it takes to throw a nade will give your opponent a huge advantage.

These are some good advices and also learn power positions. Watch pros if you want to learn callouts and stuff too. A lot can be learned from watching a pro. Hope you get better and just keep at it. Also make sure you care about the game. Not caring leads to poor decisions and will not help you get better.

I’ve also just thrown grenades randomly in hopes they kill someone, or they’re a good enough distraction to get me out of sticky situations

Have awareness, more often than not if you’re teammates are on one side of the map, and not fighting anybody, that means the enemy is on the opposite side. Use that to anticipate enemy player positions. Also, make sure you’re looking at your motion tracker a decent amount.

Thanks!
For me one is pretty much glued to the motion tracker

Hard to say

From a gameplay standpoint, Halo 5 is so far removed from the original trilogy that it’s barely recognizable as a Halo game. All the sprinting, thrusting, ground-pounding, and clambering may be right up your alley. However, it’s impossible to say since your experiences with MCC are not very relevant in this game. One would think MCC experience would be relevant, what with H5 baring the same name and all, but it is really only a Halo game in title. It is not a Halo game in many ways beyond that.

Thank you! However, I don’t want to take the game too seriously…
It is a game after all…

I’m still horrendous at halo. Check out my service record :/. Anyway I have serverly improved since halo 3 and I’m now actually a threat in halo. Memorizing of maps and spawn locations is a huge key as well. In halo 5 the stronger power weapon spawn areas and times are told to you in the game, try to push for power weapons with your teammates. If you suck with the power weapons still help a teammate push for it so a person who is good with it can use it against the enemy efficiently. (That’s what I do with sniper rifle. I suck with it so I leave it with my teammates)

Nobody is worse at Halo than Halo 4 and the MCC. Ironically, the MCC’s H4 is arguably the one and only game that genuinely works well, and 343 changed it to a much more Halo’ish game for the MCC too. Funny how the great Halo mutation experiment was the only one to survive the brutal conditions of the MCC.

Head into H5 with no worries, but I can’t say if you’ll be good or bad, because if MCC was your first Halo experience, you still haven’t actually played Halo yet.

If you’re REALLY good at H4 then I don’t see your issue. Just put more time in to it. You were writing as though MCC was the first time you played.

You say you’ve been playing since H2, so since you were 4.

Your post isn’t really adding up, if you’ve been playing since H2 you should be well versed in all aspects of the MP.

I played Halo 3 a little bit afters
