YUP, honestly it makes CoD Cold war look like the better monetization system, a game made by the greedy activision. honestly, i only see ‘free to play’ as an excuse because of this, at least with halo infinite
‘oh, but they gotta make money’ you wanna see a good and complete game that is still being updated, cared for, and making money? Super Animal Royal is a amazing example of how to do a free to play game correctly
and yeah, that’s just… stupid. 343 makes it sound like it’s hard as balls to figure stuff like SLAYER out. which i’m sure being a dev is hard… adding a single playlist that is legit THE BASE GAMEMODE THAT THEY ALREADY HAVE MADE AND CODED, shouldn’t be that hard. they’re probably trying to figure out how to add it, whiles still being tedious. like swat-… oh, i’m sorry, ‘tactical slayer’.
I’m just gonna say:
People were already very upset about the coatings reveal even before flighting started.
People were also already unhappy with Coatings and Cores in general during flighting and after looking at leaked information.
The fact that they looked at all of these vocal feedbacks and chose to go with it anyway on MP beta launch is a direct spit in our faces. WE TOLD THEM WE DIDN’T WANT IT. They did it anyway. And turns out, surprise surprise, it sucks.
So is it really our fault?
Now the big question is if they are gonna bother changing it, or continue having this thorn in the side of everyone, being the huge BUT in the phrase “Halo Infinite is an awesome game but…”
If I worked on something for 6 years and it released with a constantly rotating item shop but without the ability to easily add in a Slayer playlist I’d be embarrassed and agree with the community’s criticism.
You’re right. I spent years of my life dedicated to these games. I wanted to build back that community and show my freiends and family Halo isn’t dead. And here comes 343i stomping all over that like a bunch of raging infants.
Sarcasm aside, 343 is, whether intentionally or not, gaslighting the player base right now. They lied about content, made the game objectively worse from a consumer standpoint, after the test flights that were already garnering criticism. They drop information at random intervals, and didn’t address peoples’ biggest concerns until they screamed about it for weeks, and sketches reply was “this is a buisness and I disagree with the way some of the community is handling our decisions. See you after our vacation!”
I don’t agree with a lot of what people did out of anger, but 343i is not a victim here. People got out of hand on reddit. They wouldn’t have done that if 343 had been honest and said “hey, look. This is the state of the game right now, but we are working to fix it.”
Instead they said “hey guys, look! We launched early. Wow! Enjoy the game! We might add slayer later.”
How many times, how many YEARS of bad, buggy and incomplete launches and waiting games is it gonna take for people to realize that we, the long time Halo fans have been giving 343i plenty of chances… they are NOT the good guys here and the mismanagement of the Halo IP has frankly gone far enough in my eyes…
Even if they genuinely stick the landing with the Campaign and make this the best story for the chief since Reach’s and ODSTs story, I just cannot, WILL NOT trust them anymore until they fix the MP issues in a timely manner, not 4-5 years from now…
can you imagine working for years on something, putting yourself in something you really care about, getting excited to finally share something amazing with everyone, only to cut a bunch of content and drip feed it through obscenely expensive paywalls?
To pretend that “most” of the Halo community is exhibiting the sort of overwrought garbage that shut down r/Halo over the weekend is, thankfully, to overstate the problem dramatically.
In any group of passionate fans- any group, beyond a certain size- there are some disproportionately vocal dorks who get thrills starting and participating in flame wars on the internet.
A relatively small group of morons went waaay too far with their criticisms of Infinite by trying to make it personal with certain folks at 343i. That’s absolutely worth calling out for what it is: unacceptable. That said, the vast, vast majority of people who have problems with this game aren’t looking for someone to blame and take it out on. Most of us with issues (I’m partially in this camp myself, although I’ll be the first to say that there is a lot to adore about Infinite at ths moment, too) are trying to keep our criticism based around the actual substance of the game.
There’s no reason to feel guilty or ashamed on behalf of others simply because you are ostensibly a fan of the same media, so long as you aren’t participating in despicable behavior yourself. Take heart! The only way to really drown out the noise these dorks are making is by speaking up yourself with a more positive- or, at the bare minimum, impersonal- message.
The bigger we pretend this cohort of morons is, the more weight we give them in the discussion.
The big takeaway from this whole situation should be so long as companies implement these monetization schemes there will be toxic vitriol as a result. Halo Infinite isn’t the first gaming community to experience this and it won’t be the last.
Put you’re big boy pants on and grow up. Consumers are allowed to voice they’re opinion on a product. Yes even something that’s free deserves criticism. What kind of sheep mentality is this?
Lol someone must have forgot the past 3 halo launches 343 has done. Consumers like you are the reason we can’t get any decent games anymore. 343 could literally crap on a plate and you would eat it up like hot cakes.
343 locking armor behind. FOMO Paywall, is the equivalent of Activision locking weapon attachments beg ND the same system. It’s not player friendly and strictly Make us money tactic.
Next move is locking game modes behind paywall.
Oh you want Slayer only lobbies, that’s 30 bucks. Lol
But yea Customization of Spartan Armor is one of the biggest things besides gameplay on Halo that made it feel unique and different. Not many other shooter games really made you feel like part of their universe.
But they knew what they were doing. They knew that it was one of the sure fore ways to cash grab as many ch as they could.
Had they copied The Halo Reach System than it would t have been as profitable.
Would it be player friendly yes, but it would give a bigger payday. Halo isn’t unique when it comes to customization systems it’s just Fortnite with less content.
I think a lot of the anger is coming from stuff 343 did bend the truth about and ske7ch going “woe is us and we also don’t owe the fans answers or explorations”. I want to know why they re did the battle pass. I want to know why that after 6 years we got less maps than 5 at launch and no dedicated playlists. I want to know if these were 343s decisions or Microsoft’s decisions.
Also yeah I’m sick of the negativity too but it is well warranted. We’ve waited the longest time ever for a halo game and this is what we got. “It’s free” or “it’s just a “””“beta”"""" isn’t an excuse for a lot of the stuff in the game. And while I am hopeful I don’t want to wait a year or year and a half for a better game.
