There have been so many hateful and horrible things spit at 343i about the issues Infinite has. I understand there are some issues and problems and I 100% agree that constructive criticism is important. But I see posts everywhere (other medie outlets) that are just accusations and horrid insults that do nothing but make us Halo fans look like a bunch of self entitled ungrateful children. The Halo subreddit actually got shut down temporarily because of it. It’s not constructive and it needs to stop. There needs to be less “343 sucks” and more “well maybe they could try this isntead” it’s not hard to do and it sounds and probably works better.
Can you imagine working for years on something, putting yourself in something you really care about, getting excited to finally share something amazing with everyone only to be yelled at and called horrible things? Having your work stomped on by a bunch of raging infants? It’s just sad and shameful. We don’t know the kind of hard work they had to put into making this game. I say again, I know there are plenty of problems and issues with it so far, but being mean helps nothing. We need to point out the good things, like, how the multiplayer (aside from the obvious problems) is pretty solid and is genuinely fun and the campaign looks like it’s going to be incredible. I want 343i to know that there are still a lot of fans who love this and are extremely excited for it to release!
Again, who is yelling at them and calling them horrible names? The worst I’ve seen is “lazy” or “greedy.” Like, cry me a river man. I realize they’ve had development issues, but 6 years is a long time to launch with no content or features. As for the greed, man this is corporate greed at its finest. The battle pass, challenge system, and shop are all set up to squeeze every penny out of us. I’m not saying every employee at 343 is greedy, but the ones at the top or the ones right above them at Microsoft are. Like, they lied to us and then tried to feed us an unfinished game with bad business practice baked in. What they expect to happen? Should’ve been delayed and the monetization should’ve been more consumer friendly.
Before someone steps in and says that 343 just made a game to get money, that’s just not true (Apart from actually needing money to run servers and have updates and other things. They’re not being greedy about it). 343 gave us a free game with 100% optional purchases. Anyone that says that they are forcing us to give them money it’s just wrong. Besides, if the gameplay is so good, why would you need to worry about cosmetics so much? I think 343 is doing an amazing job and I also feel kind of bad for them for the amount of people that hate them so much.
Yeah but they’re releasing a halo game without slayer that’s like releasing the campaign and saying master chief will be coming in January maybe if ur lucky this month. I don’t agree with personal attacks but memes making fun of 343 are deserved.
Sure, that’s one way to do it. It’s also the way we’ve reacted in response to the garbage games they’ve put out for MCC/H4/H5. After a long while of the same reactions getting no response, a change is required. If you don’t like the way it’s being aggressively handled by fans now, maybe 343 should’ve not done the exact same things as they did for their last 3 garbage game launches.
I’m curious as to how many people were actually doing this on that subreddit. Because painting the entire community if it just turned out to be a small portion of said community is pretty bad thing to do in upon itself.
Kotaku, the “games journalists” ( and I use that term loosely ) aren’t the most credible source for reporting that. For all we know they saw like a handful of posts, then painted the entire community to be at fault.
The free MP is such a win-win for 343. They can act like they’re giving the game away, while also taking in way more money than if they slapped a $60 price tag on it. Then they can also dupe members like you who say “They’re not greedy, the game is free”. Clearly they are greedy, it’s so obvious it hurts.
Theyve made the same mistakes with every game theyve released under the halo name. Im not gonna resort to the pettiness of SOME of the community. But they should feel ashamed they cant even learn from their mistakes.
In my field of work and many others, the fact that I spent years working on something doesn’t matter. If I don’t do it right then it is just not accepted and hard work doesn’t mean that something is immune to criticism, even harsh criticism if it maintains a shred of professionalism.
Also, this game had a development window of 6 years. The span from Halo 2 to Halo Reach was 6 years. In that time we got both Halo 3 AND Halo: Reach, each of which built SIGNIFICANTLY over what the previous iteration offered in the multiplayer and customization suites. Hell, Halo 3 literally started Forge which was made into a legitimately big deal in Reach. We also got Halo 3:ODST which started Firefight as an additional mode. All of that in 6 years, whereas now we lost most of our playlists (AGAIN), have considerable desync issues, basic modes have been delayed for half a year+ post-launch, what on earth happened?
100% optional purchases that were originally free. Costmetics have been a thing since halo 3 taking that away and hiding it behind a paywall is like saying “heres your free to play game ,but you have to pay us to play per match.”
it seems to me like smaller independant companies can do way more than large corproations, maybe that’s because they don’t have higher ups hogging up their time with boring meetings or something when they could be getting work done?
No, I think it’s more like “Here’s your free game, but you have to pay if you want to customize your spartan past the free cosmetics.” It’s not as bad as you make it sound to me.
They’re 100% being scummy and greedy about it. FOMO store as one of the only ways to get alternate color schemes and emblems. Battle Pass having limited challenges per week to incentivize people to pay for levels. Time limited boosts when it could take an hour for the correct gamemode/map combo to drop to even give me a chance at the challenge.
I can’t wait to log in EVERY SINGLE DAY hoping they sell the color scheme for the armor I want, with the correct order of colors so it applies to the channels on the armor pieces I want to use it on in the way I want it to, and that they don’t ruin it with some ugly material selections for one or more of the colors. Effectively 0% chance I ever get to look the way I want to.
You’re actually the ideal dopey consumer if you think anything about the store and battle pass is even remotely fine. I already regret dropping the $10 just for the BP before I realized how awful the store setup really was.
