I'm already done with infinite... Store, progression, predatory microtransactions

I can’t believe this is even happening, the gameplay is amazing, probably one of the funnest halo games in years. However, my experience is totally shot down by the predatory systems behind customization, progression, and the store. The customization is by far one of the worst, the armor cores are such a terrible idea, they said that this game would have the most in depth customization to date, BUT IT DOESN’T. 343 said that a lot of items would be earnable by just playing the game. Except you can’t, there are only a handful of armor sets you can get, 1/5th of the armor you probably already have on Reach itself. 1/3rd of the battlepass is challenge skips and xp boosts. I’m so bumbed out by how awful these systems work. The gameplay is so much fun, but the rewards, especially in the battlepass, are lacking. We’ve waited 6 years for this? The whole “it’s just a beta,” excuse isn’t doing it anymore, the game fully releases in a few weeks, that’s not a lot of time to fix the problems with the game, this might actually be how the game releases. I hope they actually find a way to fix these issues because if this is how the game is for the next year or so, I will stop playing in a matter of months.

I agree that the progression is a pain and the immediate access to customization is not great, but I am one of the few who seems to like the separate armor cores. It allows me to have 3 different Spartans ready to go and I enjoy switching on the fly sometimes haha. It also fits 343’s idea of appealing to canon and new introduction of armor such as Yoroi. I understand that they don’t want mixtures of certain things, but colors is definitely not one a agree with. Why is the only universal color the HSC “Pepsi” skin?!… 343 appears to be solidifying their Halo universe and what is considered canon. I also admit that I have already purchased a bundle justified by the game being free to play and being a big fan of Halo. I don’t mind purchasable customization, but the available customization on launch is lacking.

I do believe however that progression and rewards need to change. I posted this in another thread, but PN4R on Reddit brought up some interesting points about the Tenrai Event unlockables:

<“So there’s 30 tiers, 10 of them being XP bonuses and 6 of them being challenge swaps.

Out of the 14 tiers remaining which includes ‘‘actual’’ content, 4 of them is a single emblem that you need to unlock 4 times to be able to use it everywhere.

Out of the 10 remaining, you unlock 3 color palettes that are lock this specific armor.

Out of the 7 remaining, you get 1 stupid callsign backdrop that most people will forget.

So out of the 30 tiers for this event, you only get 6 armor parts, 2 of which are the same shoulder pad that you need to unlock 2 times for both shoulders.”> Blockquote

I’m unable to post the link for reference, but Reddit user was PN4R on the Halo Infinite Event | Fractures: Tenrai Megathread of r/halo.

I feel the same. Like I love gameplay itself, but this system of xp/progression + BP + a lot of current technical issues that i saw in period of this “open beta” make me feel so annoying. Especially the logic of those challenges and hit’s registration. I have my hopes but I`m feeling nothing will change in long time

Yah I’m not a fan of a lot of the things done to the game outside of the gameplay because that part is great having so many options to change your sensitivity is insane
