I'm about fed up.

So I’ve been playing Reach again for about a month now, and for the most part it’s great. Yeah, jetpacks can break maps and armor lock is frustrating, but for the most part Reach is still Halo to me. I still enjoy it, unlike the load of crap that is Halo 4 (don’t even get me started on that debacle). But I have finally come to the realization that it’s not just Halo 4 that 343i screwed us over on, they’ve pretty much ruined Reach for me as well. I have a huge problem with DLC maps basically being non-playable anymore; I read on a previous thread that if everyone in the server has the DLC, then it becomes an option to vote on. I, however, am skeptical because I have yet to even see the option to vote for any DLC maps. As an avid Reach player and someone who spent good money to play these maps, it infuriates me to play Uncaged (jetpacks make it absolutely unplayable), Boneyard and The Spire over and over and over. I understand that 343 isn’t obligated in any way to do this, because technically the DLC is still available in custom games and forge. But the chances that someone is going to pay for the DLC maps at this point are basically non-existent, so why not just add them to the playlists? What does 343 have to lose? I’m not asking for a separate DLC playlist, just for them to be playable in at least the most popular playlists (Team Slayer, BTB, ect). For once, I would love it if 343 actually gave a crap about their fans and acted like cared about us. Bungie wasn’t perfect, but ever since 343 took the reigns my enjoyment of the Halo series has decline sharply. Maybe it’s because i’m getting older, and maybe video games just aren’t as enjoyable as they used to be, but Halo is the one game series that I’ve always loved. If this doesn’t happen in the near future, I can’t definitively say that i’ll continue to avidly play Reach. And with the way the series is headed in terms of multiplayer, I’m doubtful at this point that i’ll be buying Halo 5.

TL;DR - I just want to be able to play the DLC that I payed for in online matchmaking.

I agree with you completely.

Good to hear, and I would guess that many people in the Reach community feel the same way. If only 343 would get their heads out of their butts and make sensible changes…

I’ve always had all the dlc maps. I don’t recall the last time Anchor 9 or Tempest showed up. It’s a crime really to not be able to play on the dlc maps since they are probably the only good thing about reach.

It’s a damn shame too. Breakpoint, Tempest and Condemned (surprisingly) are all a ton of fun.

No, not ever one on server. For one thing, the are no servers. If your whole team/party are al DLC owners, you will play DLC in matchmaking more than 90% of the time.

They are in about all playlists.

The only thing DLC owners lost is the ability to search for DLC by themselves. Sucks, but really you wouldn’t have fun searching by yourself in that playlist anyway. That’s as dumb as searching Arena, invasion, or supers slayer without a team. You would get demolished, your teammates will quit and you will be repetitively spawn killed by a full team

If you do the math this current system improves skilled match ups. Not 343s fault population of DLC owners was so low. Blame MS for not lowering the price.

I meant pregame lobby, but that still doesn’t make sense. In order for a DLC map to be played, doesn’t everyone have to have it? And that’s besides the point, the option isn’t even there to vote on the maps.

> The only thing DLC owners lost is the ability to search for DLC by themselves.

Go ahead and try to play on a DLC map other than Anniversary in matchmaking.

> Not 343s fault population of DLC owners was so low. Blame MS for not lowering the price.

The price doesn’t matter at this point, nobody is going to spend any money on 2+ year old map packs. And like many others, I got tired of playing only DLC maps on the DLC exclusive playlists (which is why the population went south). Why have to pick and choose which maps to vote on? This goes back to my original point, they have nothing to lose so why doesn’t 343 just implement all maps into the current playlists?

Yep, I agree. Especially Anniversary BTB.

It took them a few weeks (nearly a month) to fix the population counter. I can imagine incorporating the DLC into every playlist will take a few months at best.

My guess is that they don’t care about Reach enough to THINK about their decisions. But then they have Halo 4 to worry about, since they screwed it up badly.

343i has effectively ruined the Halo experience. I mean, how dumb are they collectively as a company? I don’t understand their thought process at all. It’s like they sit around a table and ask, “what changes can we make (or not make) to this beloved franchise that will upset the majority of the fan base?”

It’s already done… Go ahead and look at the map and gametype list. DLC is everywhere. If you want to play DLC in team slayer you need to have DLC installed and have 3 teammates who also have DLC installed. That’s all… DLC all day.

http://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/games/haloreach/playlists

Take a peak for yourself. The easiest way of course is to find 1 friend with dlc and play Doubles… But after you play doubles on a dlc map… guess what!?! you just found TWO MORE DLC OWNERS YOUR SHOULD ADD AND PARTY UP WITH.

Now you have 4 players who all own dlc and you could go into team slayer, oh wow… you matched up with 4 other players who own dlc… *add friend x 4

now you have enough people to play dlc in BTB!

Go enjoy your dlc. It really sucks that there is no playlist you can search by yourself in but really, its a bad idea to search alone anyway. Go in doubles, build your friend list up with dlc owners and enjoy what you paid for.

I shouldn’t have to rely on finding strangers with DLC so that I can play them in the most popular playlists. I’m also not sure how up to date that link is, considering how several of those playlists no longer exist. But if it is accurate, and the DLC is actually in the rotation, THEN WHY THE HELL DOESN’T 343 JUST MAKE THEM PLAYABLE FOR EVERYONE? That company’s decisions make no sense.

Blame Microsoft policy, not 343. Microsoft usually won’t make DLC free if it has achievements attached to them.

So 343 has no say on DLC.
If players don’t have the DLC installed the map can’t be played, period. That’s a fact of life you gotta swallow.

Lets pretend there was a playlist that was DLC only… Guess what happens? No one plays it. I loved it, played a few times and had a blast… With teammates. I’m guessing you never played it without friends… It’s not a good place to go if you search by yourself. Honestly. Current system is the best system possible with such low DLC owner population. I can bring up some bogus numbers if you need an example of how it benefits you, the DLC owner more to NOT have a DLC playlist if you like.

It makes more sense if it’s a Microsoft policy i guess, but it’s still stupid. I’m not asking for a DLC only playlist, I realize that the population would be very low. I think they just need to add the DLC for free to the existing playlists, even if it won’t happen.

I gotta agree… It’s a dumb policy if you are thinking of showing love to loyal fans. But Microsoft is a company motivated by profit as all successful companies are.

If you have any ideas that both show love to the fans and turn a profit for the company, please share it.

> If you have any ideas that both show love to the fans and turn a profit for the company, please share it.

That’s my biggest problem with holding the maps back, they’re not making any profit off of them currently anyways. I would be incredibly surprised if anyone has spend money on Reach Map Packs in the past year…if you’re not making money either way, at least act like you care slightly about the fans. One of the only reasons I consider myself an Xbox-exclusive gamer is because of the Halo franchise. With the way things are going, I may be switching to Sony on the next-gen platform.

The maps technically aren’t profitable anymore because the rush to buy them is gone…
That and the fact that the DLC playlist is gone. And not everyone is an enlightened about the situation, TimZaRob.

At least get Halo 4 and Halo 5 for the campaign

Check my history, I wouldn’t consider myself so enlightened about the situation. I played it enough just to know it wasn’t fun without a team. But this is a forum, so I’ll do my best to share whatever.

i agree on this but 343 wont do it there paying to much attention to halo 4
