It was teased after the live stream that the Mark V armor would be coming in January in a free content update. I must say that while the announcement was music to my ears, the initial excitement died after I saw what 343i did to the Mark V set. The helmet alone is almost unrecognizable in its design and is an eye sore to look upon for an extended period of time. While I am complicit in receiving free content, I am a little disappointed that 343i butchered what was once an iconic set of armor… What do you think? Am I the only one who feels this way?

It looks just fine. Wait till you see it in the game.
Yeah it is kind of lame, but at the same time the mark iv armor is so close to the original mark v, as it was the prototype for it, so it looks way cooler and you get it a month early. I wouldn’t worry about the mark v. While I love the iconic look, it’s the look I really dig and not the name.

I knew about that link already, but thank you for posting it, kind sir. I know that it is strikingly similar to the Mark V, but for 343i to do what they did to perhaps the most iconic set of armor is an insult. I cannot wait to unlock the Mark IV, but I have grown so fond of using the Mark V ever since I unlocked it in Halo 3…

Yeah I agree, 343 needs a good smack in the back of the head.
It almost looks like they used Forge to build the helmet.
