It’s a new sound for halo with alot of the same vibes and sounds ( at least remnants) from the past games.
If you watch the reveal trailer, the familiar tune is heard at the end, but it sounds more electronic than monks

I think we might hear a monk or two but even if we don’t I think Halo 4 is going to have an amazing soundtrack at least as good as previous ones I really enjoyed what we have heard so far.

Wasn’t that made by IGN
I was quite impressed with the piece floating around youtube labeled “The Arrival”.
I can imagine that being played at the start of the game, covering all the major events of MC life starting as a child and finally in the cryo champer on the Forward Unto Dawn.

Its kinda hard to reconsider that fact . I think its because that old soundtrack represents the moments that I had in halo
i for one am pleased that bungie are no longer making halo games… but, i am disappointed that Marty o donnell is no longer involved with the music.
just my thoughts. although i will reserve judgement until i play the game
Although I love the new soundtrack, I do completely agree that we need a few soundtracks re-recorded for the Halo 4 soundtrack from previous Halo games (Even Reach and ODST, which has amazing soundtracks!). I think the soundtrack from previous Halo games just gives me an image of the whole Halo universe. Previous Halo soundtracks are truly extraordinary and impressive. While I have faith in the new soundtrack, I think we still need a few from the old soundtrack in Halo 4 and the new trilogy as a whole.
Im with you im hoping we get to hear some trace of the old music like the “da da da duuum” but the new guy seems to be doing a great job.
From what I’ve heard so far, I’d say the soundtrack is in good hands! I think with the new trilogy, the new music director is an appropriate fit.
i confused on what route the music is going in some videos/articles one members of 343i says one thing and another says another thing read this to get what im saying

Yeah, from what I’ve heard Halo 4’s soundtracks doesn’t meet the standards for any of the prior Halo games.
Halo Wars has a way better soundtrack, not that I’m saying Halo Wars is bad, although it’s Ensemble Studios and they’re awesome for making Age of Mythology.
> I think the chances are that it will (I would prefer it did) I mean Reach didn’t feature things like the classic Halo beat, but it did incorporate the odd ode to it within the songs sometimes. Particularly in ‘epilogue’ and ‘tip of the spear’ I think.

> I know Reach didn’t have the beast sound track by comparison, but I think we will get some form of reference to the classic tracks.
I’m hoping it’s something similar to this.
That said, this is a numbered Halo game starring John-117, so not having the classic tune will feel like a bit of a disservice. Maybe take that and kick it up to 11(7), and have that be the Reclaimer trilogy theme. Although they’d better not -Yoink- it up if they do do that.
Master Chief is in the game, the theme needs to be there…They can change it all they want, but it needs to be there. The song is as iconic as chief himself, and it’d be a big misstep if it wasn’t there.

What exactly did you not like about what we have heard? I thought the samples we got where both new but also kept some of old halo feel. I can’t really put a word to it but to me it sounded like Halo.
From what I’ve heard the soundtrack sounds like it’s gonna be beastly. I already have a piece that is one of my favourites of the entire franchise (it’s the one at the beginning of the ‘Making of’ vidoc, btw).
You can hear some of the “oooooOOOOoooOOOHHHHOOOOOHHHHHHoooohhhhoooohhhohhhhhh” at the end of the teaser trailer.
I’m more concerned about the “dun dun dun DUNNNNNNN, dun dun dun DUNNNNNN, dun dun dun DUNNNNNN, dun dun dun Dun dun dun dun Dun dun dun” returning. Seriously, it might be a deal breaker if it’s not in the game. For the love of the gods put in the dun/bum’s Frankie!

I could go into a critical analysis but then again I’m not a composer, nor does this guy seem to be.
