Yes this is exactly what frustrates me, they can see from all the previous Halo games what works but they insist on changing and I cant fatherm why
Destiny’s store is leagues better.
A good chunk of seasonal items available thru the whole season.
And a larger number of weekly items.
Vs 4 bundles of descending size.
Most past items are inaccessible.
There a business… they want money…
But they don’t sell much (at one time)
I wish Halo Infinite was anything like the Halo I remember though.
Because they want that fast cash, but they don’t want to put the effort into the game as a developer should put into designing any game.
343 literally looked at other games like Destiny and said “we can do this”. No they can’t, and they need to get this through their thick skull. (Halo is not and never will be a lotter shooter) so the need to stop the nonsense.
Yeah, it’s embarrassing when you compare it to Destiny 2 and what they’ve achieved. I don’t play it but you can’t help but be impressed by the serialised narrative they have going.
Everybody was convinced whole reason we got the small scale intro story was because they were going to quickly follow up with DLC. Don’t want to use up all your story beats at once now do we?
Not, you guys didn’t finish the game so did a hatchet job with what you had left. With it going to not be until 2025 at the earliest they do any story content.
That’s disastrous for a game that hasn’t even reset the board it upended after retconning Halo 5. In fact the table hasn’t even hit the ground yet. There’s no point doing a mystery box campaign if people forget who the Endless and Atriox are by time next game rolls through.
Like unless they are trapped in the Matrix I don’t get why those Academy Spartans give a dam about this Banished lightbulb when they should be trying to get in touch with Earth, loading up their nukes and going out to kill Banished.
It wouldn’t work.
Destiny is a game that lives and breathes on it’s grind for new guns and random rolls. And I love it! Ive been playing far more Destiny than Halo since 2014.
But Halo should never have either of those things. It would fundamentally shift away from what I love about the franchise. Honestly I don’t think it should have even gone open world, instead it should have opted for larger, more open ended missions that take us on a journey to several locations around Zeta Halo, instead of just exploring one section of it… I look at missions like Pelican Down as a perfect example. It would have been great as its own standalone mission, without the rest of the open world around it.
Yeah the grind is what keeps me away from Destiny although I do watch the trailers.
I think a closer model of what people wanted might be Assassins Creed. Massive open world, followed by chunky expansions every few months.
I think people would play the content, the issue is how 343 makes money out of it since Destiny is relying on dat loot to keep people invested. If it takes that much work then, why not make it it’s own game.
I liked the concept of the Open World. There’s no reason you can’t slot bigger cinematic missions and story beats in. But there are some massive issues with the content and if 3 years per title is the best they can manage then each game needs to provide worthwhile story beats and action. You really can’t waste time with generic Brute Chieftain who can’t fix a Halo Array and Brute AI who has spent almost a year making Wolf noises.
Nope, I played Destiny for a while - had to buy a PS whatever to do it. Didn’t like it after a while. It was way to biased toward skilled, motivated players. There were whole sections of the game I couldn’t play because they force you join a team to do it. Plus really didn’t dig the whole magical aspect of the story with wizards and such bs.
Halo and Destiny have both accomplished the same goal with me.
I’ll never drop another dollar on either title ever again.
Destiny with new title prices for small DLC quality and Halo because of 343i horrid track record with releases and their inability to update.
Destiny does have is problems, but it is a game that can be played for hours on end and with friends or with random people, Halo Infinite on the other hand is nothing more than a cheap imitation of better Halo days. Before the release of Infinite there was talk of a massive immersive open world, and it was kept secret, and for good reason, Infinite’s open world is pathetic and will also have a pathetic co-op, and with no matchmaking, Yeah, no social fraken matchmaking!
I was hoping for a Destiny inspired co-op multiplayer experience, but nope, 343 has demonstrated a complete lack of game building ability, or I should say the people making decisions at 343 instruct people to make a crap product.
Despite all the things wrong with Destiny, people would have only been so lucky if Infinite had what Destiny has. Destiny has seen people leaving, though, because of DLC that was no more than copy and paste and repetitive soul sucking grind, but it does take a while to get that bored. I was bored playing Halo Infinite’s campaign within 20 min, the PVP is not worth any time at all.
The only reason Infinite made any money at all, is because of the false and or misleading marketing before release, once people played it, 8 out of 10 people stopped playing it, coming up to a year after release and still Infinite is barely a beta release. There is one major difference between Bungie and 343, Bungie can make games, they like to rip people off, but they can make games.
Hmmm I think there are several messages that have not understood what I mean by copying Destiny. At no time have I said that Halo should become a shooter-looter in which we should dedicate ourselves to working to get better equipment, etc.
What I refer to at all times is its PVE facet, its way of developing the main story, and the way they have us participate in it with our characters. And how Halo Infinite, having an open world, could go out of its way to recreate this same experience. In fact, 343i stated on more than one occasion that his intentions were for the experience to revolve around our Spartan. Which they haven’t gotten yet.
Well, Extraction (PvE) mode is on its way. You can check it out, sort of - on FootedGhosts YouTube.
It is.
Both are underwhelming and have lots of dresses for sale.
Destiny has had some incredible content, raids, strikes, massive open world PVE, and PVP, and has also had some very underwhelming content as well. Halo Infinite could easily have rivalled Destiny and been the best game on the planet, but at this point the only real hope and hype for people is forge, so users can create content and make Halo good again, that’s so fraken pathetic.
Comparing Destiny to Infinite would be like comparing a Ferrari to a go-cart with a lawnmower engine, obviously Halo Infinite is the go-cart. The game is not in good place, the Halo TV series is even worse, all managed and orchestrated by 343, a company that has been unable to decide what Halo is. Consider, 343 thinks the TV series is great, but are listening to feedback from fans … sound familiar?
