Halo should be like Battlefield 5 war stories. I disagree. Strongly.
I actually wouldn’t mind, halo has various characters and perspectives it can play out.
I think it depends on what they’re trying to achieve. We’ve seen that Halo can work well with or without the Master Chief. Halo 5 just executed it badly. People expect to play as Chief in a mainline game. Halo 2 did it well because the Arbiter was so interesting, deep, and well developed.
War stories would be cool as a one-off side game, but to adopt them entirely? Hell no.
Ughh, no thanks.
I’d like all the Mainline Titles with MC, meanwhile you can expand a lot of characters in Spin Off Games. No, I’m not talking about flat, boring characters like the ones we have in Osiris.
I’m talking about Grey Team, just imagine how much potenial they have. I’m talking about the Arbiter with Rtas Vadum. Or we can have plotdriven storys like we had in reach. Imagine a game about Operation Torpedo, where you would see one spartan fall after another.
There’s a lot of potenial there.
Not sure why they decided this was relevant to Halo Infinite of all things.
I’d like that for maybe DLC or a spin off but not the main series.
As a main story halo game, if it’s blatantly advertised as that them I’m fine with it.
If it’s random optional side missions you have to do something to start it within the main game, I’m fine with that as well.
.as someone said above, multi thread stories isn’t bad, 5 just advertised one thing and executed something else.

I am 100% in support of what’s been said in this comment. Having more playable characters was never the issue. It was the way that 343i executed it in Halo 5: Guardians that was poor.
I’ve seen this article. I don’t think it’s a bad idea for a spinoff Halo, but for Infinite? that is an absolutely horrible idea. One of the biggest letdowns and complaints about Halo 5 is the fact that Master Chief was only playable for 3 missions out of the entire campaign. For 343 to completely disregard the communities feedback and copy a competitors concept instead would be blatantly ignorant and stupid of them, but they most likely wouldn’t even consider it anyway, based on the direction they seem to be taking. The only way 343 could incorporate another perspective in the campaign (that’s not Master Chief’s) successfully is by reintroducing Arbiter missions, which if done right could be -Yoinking!- amazing.

This would be leaps and bounds better for Spartan Ops or a secondary mode , but shouldn’t be made in the stead of a standard campaign.
7.8 out of 10, too much water - IGN.
But seriously, Master Chief is who is supposed to be the main character for the main series. Otherwise the spin offs with other protagonists are fine as long as they are made with quality and not just to exploit the fame of the name of the old Halo games.
Yea, no, I’m with you, OP. It’ll be cool to explore other stories in the Universe, but Halo Infinite is a mainline Halo game that’s supposed to focus on Chief.

Yes I wasn’t a fan of split-stories either, I wish BF1 had stuck with just a long campaign with big maps so hearing that makes me think the BF5 campaign will probably be underwhelming again. If they did war stories then it probably should stick with spin-offs like maybe Odst since the stories carried over while the war stories just felt random.
