Oh that’s a good point! I didn’t include that bit in the polls but I’m also not into that. Did they end up including a way to toggle that off?
I’m a campaign player, so the lack of coop (the first time I played each Bungie game was in coop) and the lack of biome diversity in the campaign are very concerning for me.
I’m also concerned that anything from Halo 4 or 5 might come back. These games were just huge disappointments and I want to forget their existence and focus on this new era. Also the new HUD sucks a lot.
Same. I don’t enjoy PvP and I hate how esports ruin good PvE games. Halo is a campaign game first and foremost.
The campaign has me concerned. Halo has always been a well-paced action narrative and going this faux open-world thing is going to kill the pacing/excitement.
I think it’ll end up more like Gears 5 where there are small periods of relative excitement in between long periods of dullness… and well some of the voice lines, particularly Cortana (old and new) are on the same level of cringe as H3’s Miranda’s ‘to war’ line.
THANK YOU. Good to see someone with the same concerns. I’m open to an open world (lol) but also concerned about how it will effect the pacing of the narrative ark, which I’ve always enjoyed. Having a bit longer of a campaign is welcome, but from what I’ve seen I’m worried the whole campaign will be sort of the same location and that it the story will feel like just a jumping off point.
The voice lines so far have been pretty bad… I really liked the announcement trailer, was disappointed that Discover Hope all took place inside a Pelican but enjoyed the tone of it (except for the cheesy ending.) The campaign demo last year was obviously pretty disappointing (especially Escharum…) but then the campaign trailer shown at E3 had some promise, and some good music. Then this most recent campaign overview really worried me, the writing was terrible, the voice over was so cheesy, and so many of the lines were easily as cringey as “to war.”
Lack of Forge, and the fact that aiming feels god awful are my major deal breakers.
They’re catering to the competitive players they complained about assassinations and always turned them off because it would get them killed and was too slow blah blah.
From what I’ve seen over the past year 343 is going full favour for the old school competitive fans over the anyone and everyone else sadly…
But, like, couldn’t you just already not assassinate by tapping melee instead of holding? And if you could even turn them off in Halo 5, as it sounds like in your post… Seems like “pro” players should’ve had nothing to complain about.
Yup I agree all those options were available but 343 said it themselves “ in higher competitive play, players just turned them off “ so they didn’t add it and want to apparently figure out a way to make it work. Guess the ability to turn it off isn’t a way of making it work…
Sounds to me like just an excuse for 343 to be lazy. <_<
It’s not an option- but I’d also like to make as special mention regaridng the terrible monitisation of event he most basic customisation options in the multiplayer side of things.
None of those things are a deal breaker for me. For me the deal breaker is not having Aim Assist for controller. I understand some people don’t need aim assist, but my aim is not great. I DO need it so if they aren’t going to have it in the game then I won’t be playing it.
Being too much like COD. The death to alive timer is too similar. I’m betting even the top players have a ratio too even between how long they are alive and how long they are dead. The maps are too small and you run into a player within 2 seonds, often more than one player due to spawning.
No Co-OP…hands down. For two decades now friends have been gathering to play the campaign together on night one and all of a sudden on the “last” Halo game we can’t do that… What a slap in the face to the player base.
None of these are a deal-breaker for me, as I will be getting the game regardless. However, I will say that having all of those items you listed would be GREAT, but as you’ve said we already know that Forge and Co-op are going to be in the game, but will be included post-launch. Also, I think I can say with certainty, we won’t be getting playable elites or dual-wielding at any point. Out of that list, I’d say the story is the most important component.
For me though, Co-op doesn’t matter too much as my friends typically focus on Multiplayer or Custom Games instead of the Campaign, which I usually just play solo. Forge is gonna be the thing I’ll want most before it gets added in, because I’m really into mapmaking, and since pretty much every Forge mode since 3 has gotten better with each entry, I’m excited to see what this game’s mode will have.
Such a frustrating thing! I miss the days when things were added to games because they fit into the world, and the campaign was built to be a complete experience, then the multiplayer was built and balanced from the campaign. Now it seems like the multiplayer is the priority and anything that can’t be balanced in MP is cut from the campaign. It’s lost us a lot of cool things over recent years (first Falcons, DMRs, now assassinations.)
If they dont fix my ability to even launch the game in the next week or so I’ll probably move on from Halo after 20 years. Feels bad
Aw damn! Sorry to hear that, friend. What console are you playing on? I haven’t had that issue but tbh after I did get the game started I played one game and really disliked the progression system and monetization and left.
Thanks, I appreciate it. I am playing on PC through steam. Or trying to anyway haha. I was in both flights so my hopes are high it will get fixed soon. Just sad to be missing out a bit here. I know that progression will get updated wuickly after all the complaints about it… My bet is the game will be unrecognizable from this launch version within a year.
You left out “No BR Start in BTB” and “No Thruster” (default, not powerup).
Otherwise, the game is excellent.
