If you wrote Halo 5 what would you make it about

lets be clear Halo 4’s campaign was controversial so don’t bother saying oh but I liked it, a good chunk of people didn’t. One thing we can agree on for the most part is how lacking Halo 5’s story is, the marketing campaign promised us IMO a much better story than what 343 delivered in Halo 5. Please post how you would have done things from ONi vs UNS civil war to discovering the Spirit of Fire I want to hear what other like minded gamers think 343 could have given us that would have made for a memorable story for future relection like ODST.

I definitely would have made the Chief seem evil like the marketing did, I think that could’ve improved the story quite a bit.

The story was fine, but the execution wasn’t. If Joe Staten and Eric Nylund wrote Halo 5 (with the same story) we’d all be praising 343 for how incredible it was.

After the wars Master Chief settles down in New Mombasa and tries to settle into civilian life. He has trouble keeping a job and finds regular life pretty boring. Now, depressed, Chief finds comfort and adventure in being apart of a local gang. The game turns open world and basically turns into GTA.

Optional Ending: Chief was actually an undercover cop the whole time!

Cortana would not have died in h4. She would have gone crazy a bit.

In h5 she would have gone awol herself having discovered some new threat inside of the forerunner/didact’s systems but been unable to articulate it cuz of said crazy. Chief trusts her and starts doing stuff to help her. Turns out some of it is just crazy stuff- like attacking ONI bases and blowing up stuff. Locke has to hunt. Cortana is put down.

H6 has cortana fixed, not truly dead, but a bit crazy for different reasons. Turns out ONI really are jerks, with UNSC plot to boot. The stuff chief did wasnt bad. Locke switches sides. They fight Evil Cortana and her legion of baddies. There might be a halo activation to stop.
Turns out Evil Cortana is really new Cortana with Evil Other thing controlling. Save new Cortana. MASTER CHIEF DIES. New Cortana tells locke “I remember him now…”
