Imagine that Halo 5 wasn’t announced, we didn’t know about it since the E3 2013, anything from campaign, multiplayer, mechanics, etc. The only thing that you have is E3 2013’s trailer, and you’re the one who decides what ideas for new things that should be made, but doesn’t count stuff that were in previous games, something that should innovate, don’t say “Halo 3 is perfect and it should stay the same”, because if it stayed the same we would get bored. Good ideas that could go to Halo.

Ironically, no one responds to this.

To be honest, you guys don’t have ideas, the idea of this post is to see, from those who complain about the changes happening to Halo 5, so if there’s anyone with a better creativity than 343i then this post would lose it’s meaning, but I believe that I’m right, the community doesn’t have creativity, but those that have then horray for you.
My choices:
- Inclusion and expansion of the Brute sandbox, making it 4 total (Brute, Covenant, UNSC, Forerunner) - The idea of tactical ‘equipment’ from halo 3 would be expanded upon - Grenades would be split into two types: Lethal and Tactical – offering smoke grenades, cryo grenades, EMP grenades, mines, etc - Instead of the ‘Golden Triangle’, it would be more of a ‘pentagram:’ Guns, Grenades, Melee, Equipment, and Spartan Abilities - Develop a ‘Firefight’ mode within Warzone, and open up Warzone to offline matches
If we can’t say that we want the next Halo to be working similar to previous titles which worked amazingly well already then what is there to say? We either say ideas that are outside of the formula of Halo or we must bring in things which have completily no effect on anything and gives no joy.
I want a Halo 3 reskin but with a better ranking system, better amor customization, better forge, better stability aka just refine it. And honestly, that would probably do much better than what Halo 4 did.

I think it would be ironic if we were all made out of iron.
Oh yeah… topic…
Pretty much Halo Online, on console would be good with me. But now that I’ve seen Warzone, I don’t think I can go on without it lol

I like what I see:
- Brutes was something that looks great in the game, tanks like the hunters, but having more mobility (honestly I like the Brutes from Halo Reach);
- Equipment is nice, could be something and you use it, just put it right aside of the grenade count;
- I think people wouldn’t like it, but it’s promising, lethal being frag and sticky, tactical would be the pulse or a EMP as you said;
- Could you tell what is the “Golden Triangle”?
- Firefight could be cool, but Warzone offline matches is something that it couldn’t happen, you have to see in a developer side, it could be tricky.You have nice ideas, and I want to ask you this: do you like the spartan ablilities?
There are many very constructive forum threads with ideas for improving Spartan Ops and Firefight. I’d love to see Spartan Ops brought back, but with improvements that were discussed in threads like this. If I was the one giving the ideas for Halo 5, I’d be looking through the fan suggestion threads and culling out all the great ideas that were given for improving and expanding Firefight and Spartan Ops, and building up a killer Spartan Ops that, while it would have a default setting for matchmaking, would have as many player customization options as possible.

It’s kinda what I’m doing here, I would like to see the first posts to see the ideas they had for Halo 5, but talking about mechanics, I bet that you played the beta, what are your thoughts, do you like the mechanics or do you want the mechanics from Halo 3?
-Sprint being reworked so that if you moving forward for a few seconds you pick up speed and eventually hit sprint speed, strafing you are at normal speed but it is a seamless transition and you are able to shoot at all times even at full speed, the drawback being it would be hard to be accurate
-so many enemies, UNSC, Brutes, Forerunners, Flood, Covies I would want them ALL in the game in one way or another
-included a giant team battle mode that is 14v14 and allows for pelicans, phantoms, scarabs and mammoths
-file share and forge hub needs a seamless interface where we can go in game to find the most popular forge maps and download them / vote to get them into matchmaking / upload our own maps
- Playable Elites, for starters. I’d probably also add in Brutes, Prometheans, and most of the other covenant races as playable characters as well.
- Return of 4 player splitscreen for campaign and MM.
- Either have the ability to sprint disabled when your shields are below 100%, or have sprint removed entirely.
- Remove all other Spartan Abilities from default gameplay and have them as toggleable options for custom games.
- Completely scrap the smart scope system and restore classic scoping. Every weapon having a scope is overkill, and even if they had to have scopes, I would make sure it was done in the style of classic scoping, not the ADS hybrid we have now.
- Return equipment to some maps, where they would benefit/add to the gameplay. Rework certain equipment by nerfing the OP ones like Regen, and buffing/changing the weak ones like flare and radar jammer.
- Return of fan favorite weapons like the Plasma Rifle, Brute Shot, Mauler, Grenade Launcher, Plasma Launcher (replacement for the Plasma Caster), Flamethrower, Missile Pod, and Sentinel Beam.
- Return of the Spectre, Hornet (different variants) Falcon (different variants), Chopper, and AA Wraith (rebalanced).
- Addition of the Locust (Covenant’s answer to the Mantis), and Wolverine.
- Return of the Elephant and Scarab as drivable and forgeable entities.
- Take the terrible chip-damage vehicle health system that has been lingering since Reach, and burn it with fire. Return of Halo 3’s superior vehicle health system.
- Larger BTB gamemode with increased player count (not Warzone, just classic slayer and objective gamemodes with more than the usual 16 players).
- Improved forge mode from H2A with the additional options for time of day, weather, and forge piece pallet (UNSC, Covenant, Forerunner, Flood, etc.)
- Zero-gravity maps that utilize the thruster pack for movement. Thrusters would be default in specific game modes like this one only, they wouldn’t be default universally like they are now.
- Large scale ship-to-ship space battle maps in an invasion-style game mode where players spawn in their faction’s capital ship and can choose to pilot UNSC space vehicles like the Pelican, Broadsword, Sabre, and Longsword, as well as Covenant vehicles like the Spirit, Space Banshee, Seraph, and Phantom. Default thrusters would also be available in this game mode so players can choose to board the enemy ship by thrusting through space as well.
Think about it, instead of burning a majority of time and resources on balancing gimmicky Spartan Abilities and one new gamemode (Warzone), we could have had most if not all of what I listed above instead.

I really like the greanade idea. I hope theres at least four types in h5
Let’s see, you want your game to have solid foundation, and that comes from having solid gameplay. I’m a firm believer that Halo’s base mechanics shouldn’t be terribly complicated, and that the main source of difficulty should come from fighting other players, instead of controls.
The foremost popular entries in the series harbor a distinct, offensive, ‘slowed’ arena gameplay design; there’s a much longer battles of wits going on.
If I’m going to change this style of gameplay for the better, I’m going to need to start by adding mechanics that don’t speed up the game too much, or most importantly, do not add more buttons to the already perfectly-organized control scheme. However, there are obviously two ways to make sure the game doesn’t speed up too much. 1. You can make sure the maps are bigger to compensate for faster gameplay, or 2. You can leave every mechanic the same as it was in Halo 1-3. Of course, newer fans and non-Halo fans seem to take issue with the latter…
First, we add (or tweak existing) stuff, such that the resulting mechanics are different from the norm, perhaps even more effective (Halo 5 does this well already, but I feel there could be areas of improvement.)
- Sprint in Halo and most other shooters massively slows down your aiming reticule… So yes, players should be allowed to shoot while Sprinting. End of story. Strafing players could easily dodge your shots, so I’m leaving Sprint alone, and turning the guns back on. The mechanic is now more offensive when chasing people, and there are no other drawbacks.
Now, let’s update things a bit. Go under the knife with Halo 4 and take at least one mechanic from shooters that are actually Arena shooters, or at least prioritize mechanics as things that Halo’s balancing actually allows… Borrowing mechanics isn’t inherently bad, they just need to compliment the existing gameplay well.
- Each Spartan gets a dodge maneuver ala Unreal Tournament by tapping the Sprint button in any direction (except forward.) No airbone thrusting, and no new buttons. Keep strafing grounded. Changing elevation instantly when jumping is already plenty viable as a defensive maneuver, so changing direction again midair via Thruster Pack is slightly overpowering it, knowing Halo’s kill times.
Note: It’s important that both dodging and regular strafing stay viable, so dodging isn’t too rapid, and the distance is only about 8 ft. Think of Elites in Campaign. You can still shoot when doing so, and cooldown times are just over a second, but the skill gap will come from managing consistent accuracy when dodging, rather than how often you can use it, as traditional strafers will be slightly more accurate.
-
You can still climb ledges with the jump button, provided your legs actually touch the surface.
-
Multiplayer has d-pad commands. Maybe you’re being outnumbered, need help pushing for the flag, or need someone to drive the dang Warthog for you? Press Up on the d-pad and ask for help. Need to trade weapons with someone else? Press Left on the d-pad and initiate a trade. Maybe you just want to lose your weapon? Press Right on the d-pad and watch it fall to the ground. Pressing down on the d-pad was also my favorite way to lower your weapon…
TL;DR: So yeah… There’s Halo 5 with no ADS, thruster, hover, slide, shoulder charge, hit markers, grenade indicators, ground pound, or weapon callouts… Base gameplay has been optimized to be fresh, simplistic, and 20x more competitive than Halo 4, all at the same time.
compound bows, because why not?
and motorcycles.
- Forge/customs revamp (weather,time of day,environments, terminals, cosmetic items,wildlife,etc.) - Music for customs - Custom game server browser - Large scale return of invasion, playable elites, brutes, and Prometheans. Include small AI such as grunts, jackals, watchers, and crawlers. - Firefight, flood and Prometheans now included - Firefight + Forge/ Fireforge - Separate competitive and casual playlists separate - Require game chat for select competitive modes - More objective/elimination based competitive modes - Proximity chat infection+big team infection - Armor effects - Saved armor sets/ spartans - Optional huds depending on the helmet - Large amount of commendation based armor (Ex. 10,000 sniper kills = Linda’s helmet) - Multiple co-op modes - 343’s favorites (maps, clips,pics, etc.) - Large scale BTB (pelicans, drop pods, custom load outs, jip, etc.)These are some features that would make the perfect halo game if combined IMO.

cough.
There’s more where that came from…
Add customizable AI Spartans that fill in empty player slots for Arena and Warzone Custom Games. Basically something like UT2004, Enemy Territory, BF1942, etc.
Elites back in the damn multiplayer.
