How would you go about “fixing” Halo 4?
You must cater to both modern and classic appeal.
I’d go to the forums and read because people here obviously know what they like and don’t like.
Make a game mode that had everyone play as grunts with one weapon in regards to the map played, with only fuel rods, needlers, and Plasma Pistols for weapons.Casuals and competitive players would find it fun i believe.
Edit:I’d add the ability to talk to other players in close proximity like before, it worked.Get rid of quit and mic bans because they make no sense.Add a team boot option if a player is AFK/inactive for a minute by pressing the back button when it appears.completely disable team damage to friendly vehicles.Increase strafe reaction and speed time to that of past halo’s, sprint is a unique addition that adds movement possibility’s, not just running away.Near unlimited options for customs games.Add Map creation to forge.Add descope but keep flinch.Fast weapon balancing.Add option to play as an elite in MM.Add a Classic Halo:CE mode with all the original maps and gameplay.I would do allot and this list could go on forever so ill stop here.
Oh and add more gore and longer times till weapons despawn like around a minute would suffice. If the gun is empty despawn after 5 seconds.
I would personally talk to MLG players and take their opinions how to change the game to better.
I would make more playlists, some non KD playlists.
Integrate more maps into Matchmaking…
Read people’s opinions in forums.
Set up a conference with the respective heads of each Halo community. It would be a long day, but at the end you would know what people want done.
-Ranked playlists
-Social playlists

a ranked playlist with the competitive settings, along with no sprint and increased movement speed, and bring back descoping… flinch is dumb
I would make a social playlist, and a ranked playlist.
It’s a tough job. If it were easy, everyone would be happy. But it’s hard to make everyone happy. For example, nerfing the DMR would cause a lot of outcry from the population who supports the DMR. I’m happy with the teammates not being able to blow up their team vehicles, but stuff that make Reach excellent like file share and customizable features is infection is missing, which is disappointing. However, we must realize that 343 has done some good with the series. They introduce the awesome prometheans, they had listen to complaints about the first half of spartan ops and improved it on the second half. We should be thankful for what we have. 343 is trying, someone’s great ideas for a perfect Halo isn’t everyone’s own ideal of a great Halo game.

But it wouldn’t fit in the “lore”…I still can’t believe they canonized the multiplayer, such a stupid decision.

Yeah it would. Some Spartans don’t want to play for fun (Ranked) while some just want to play for fun
(social)
-Nerf DMR
-Nerf Boltshot
-Ranked Playlists (visible CSR)
-Social Playlists
-REGULAR FREE FOR ALL PLAYLIST
-“Classic” playlist(s) (Static starts, weapons on map, AA’s on map, no ordnance, no loadouts, no instant respawn)
-Overall interact with community, stop being so vague with answers.
I wanted to write this in more detail, but It would take forever. I think I’ll do it piece by piece
Ranked and Social playlists. Listen to the community.

-Nerfing the DMR is for balance reasons, a person would only want to keep it the same because they realize it is unbalanced, and too easy, this has already been proven. This probably all could have been avoided if they had a public beta. No one is saying make the DMR useless, because it is part of the sandbox and should have its place, they are however saying make it balanced like the rest of the rifles.
-Team shooting…kind of love hate, I don’t like griefers, but at the same time you need to learn to watch where the heck you are shooting.
-Spartan ops, bland, lack of options (skulls, scoring, etc) good idea, bad execution, IMO should have been DLC, that way it could have been more varied.
-File share, should have been here from the start.
a. Try to migrate as many hidden Custom Game options (Weapons on Map, Sprint toggle, Flood weapons, etc.) as possible into the UI where players can use them.
This will immediately benefit Custom Gamers, and will give competitive players more to work with when testing settings.
b. Prep a small team to re-script old gametypes back into Halo 4.
c. In-game playlist-specific CSR for Team Throwdown and other highly-competitive lists (Doubles, etc.). Skill remains hidden in all other playlists.
Caters to competitive players in their “native habitats”, while allowing the general population to avoid negative behaviors associated with skill ranking.
d. Free Matchmaking-required Forge-oriented DLC map. Half of the map is hilly like Hemorrhage; the other half is flat. To allow for more objects in the palette, cull less useful ones (Seastack Rock, Staircase, Tall Tower, etc.), and improve ones that have potential yet also notable flaws (Sniper Nest).
Immediately gives Forgers more to work with, allowing them to better supply the competitive and casual segments of the community with good content.
e. Implement additional changes as indicated by community feedback, but only after careful consideration to ensure that they actually are good and plausible ideas.
I would stop listening to all the complainers out there and focus my attention where its needed most. On the Game, by continually offering newer playlists without removing old ones, and possibly even spinning Spartan Ops into its own game. All playable offline.
I would make the decision and tell the comunity THE DBR etc will stsy like it is. If you like the BR better USE it, if not… Shut up.
Also, I would tell the community. No ingame ranking system… But I would put up a pro list and require players who want to compete in it to have a 3.0 or higher K/D rating before the system will allow you to play. If your K/D falls below 2.0 then your back to having to play with noobs.
Also, I would develope a controler so one handed people {like me} could shoot/straff/walk etc without to much trouble.

If I was 343, I’d find the nearest cliff & drive off of it. The interest in Halo 4 has been gradually taking a nose dive according to the Halocharts website. Most of us will never buy any game developed by 343 again, including Halo 5. So 343, enjoy the $200 million plus you made off of us “beta testers” while it lasts. They ruined the game by making it like COD, plus they are completely out of touch with good customer service & communicating with the fan base. The monthly bulletins don’t cut it here. We can debate the good vs the bad aspects of Halo 4 all day & night, but the conclusion is… they failed badly. There are parts of Halo we like, parts we hate, but overall it is not a Halo type of game. We are all looking forward to Bungie’s new game Destiny. Bye bye Halo. The ride was fun while it lasted…

Since when did playing ranked make it impossible to have fun?
People have more fun playing close competitive games than rofl stomping kids all day with no challenge. Reach and Reach 2 both proved it.
make an actual slayer playlist for those who dont like infinity slayer. I thought there was supposed to be both of those game types in matchmaking but apparently not.
Maybe encourage people to play roles on the team instead of rewarding a losing team with a bunch of personal ordinance called in power weapons to turn the tide of the game?
A required I.Q. test for people to play online would be nice. Having random teammates that infinity run straight into their death when everyone else seems to know what a smart idea it is to lure the other team into an ambush.
Those are just a few things they could do…What? A guy can dream…
I would go to the forums and listen to reasonable ideas, such as nerfing the DMR and bringing back de-scoping. I’d work from large problems to little problems. I’d also listen to the official Halo website (Waypoint), where I think dedicated Halo fans know what they’re talking about.
