I have to admit for all the people that come on here and go off about how Classic Halo needs to return, or Elites need to come back to Matchmaking. Why don’t you PROVE it.
Here’s what I’m saying:
When the Global Championship is over, anyone who is totally for the return of Classic-style Halo should limit themselves to only playing Legendary Slayer, or Team Throwdown.
Anyone who supports more modern style Halo can stick to any of the other playlists.
Then, to take it one step further, when Halo 3 comes out for free on Games with Gold, Download it and play-play-play!. Yeah it’s a bit outdated, and yeah it’s easy to get bored because it’s the same game we’ve already been playing for 5 years, but it will send a message, and that message will read:
We don’t like AAs, we don’t like Perks, and we don’t like Power Weapons in Ordinance Drops.
And for the Elite fans you can use Halo 3 going free as a way to say we want Elites back.
If the population in Halo 4 sees a massive drop, while the population in Halo 3 sees a massive rise. And the number ratios stay that way, I think they will understand the message.
My point is: stop sitting here saying what you want, and actually DO what you want.

Lol, i’m about to go play halo 3 now…
I can backup 90% of my Campaign arguments with a film or two… and I have been doing all sorts of different ways to play Campaign for some time now.
But MP, that’s a tough one. Only a few can concoct and sustain such an argument. I tip my hat to those persons.
This guy (the OP) is a genius !
And if a nine-month-old game beats the population of a six-year-old game, that means… nothing.
Microsoft releasing Halo 3 for free won’t do anything to the Halo 4 population. Halo 4’s population drops steadily on its own without the need for outside influences.
There’s unfortunately one flaw to your plan : most of the people who want a traditional Halo experience back have left Halo 4 for good and won’t ever come back.
Well I guess I’m out of luck. For traditional fans I guess we gotta play a 6-year-old game with a sparse population. Sounds like fun.
Well, I have at least been playing Legendary Slayer. But it’s things in Halo 4 like join-in-progress, sprint, no descope, forgettable maps, pre-game quitting, and still low population that ruin it for me.
But I play it anyway because it’s the best out there in Halo 4 for the moment for anything remotely close to approaching the possibility of potentially resembling something near traditional Halo. …wow that was a lot of unnecessary words.
For all those bringing up the big numbers from halo 2 and 3, why do u think those numbers were big. What was the competition back then, hardly anything except for starwars battlefront. Nowadays we got bf, killzone, gears, Cod, Planetside and countless more games. We got to realize that Halo has to keep up with the times. Im not asking for a battlefield or cod clone, but what im saying is if they can take some inspiration from battlefield or cod and make it work with Halo while still keeping the classic gameplay for those that dont want the change.
Posting on Waypoint won’t spread the word enough. You must use all of your social websites(Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Youtube, and whatever else people use) to get this message out there to every classic Halo fan. Really it is up to how willing Waypoint members are to get the word out.

By that logic, all of those games have competition with each other nowadays as well, including competition from Halo. But Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 seems to be doing just fine, while Halo 4 is struggling. Even Modern Warfare 3 is doing better. There is just a larger portion of CoD players who enjoy the CoD gameplay than there are Halo players who enjoy the new CoD-esque Halo gameplay. Halo needs a step back in order to take two steps forward.
Halo tried to take elements from those games and make them work. It wasn’t largely successful.
So in this case, competition is not a valid argument for crunching population numbers. Remember, the competition is competing, too.
Now let’s get back on topic, please.

Oh, please. It has nothing to do with competition. Halo has been played by nearly the same amount of fans since Halo 2. The sales of each game pretty much speaks for itself. Halo’s 1, 2, and 3 really built the fanbase, while H:R and H4 did nothing but destroy it and attract little to no fans. As mentioned above, If it’s all about competition, why doesn’t BO2 have such a low competition if Halo and BF, etc. Are it’s competitors? Same goes for BF. This argument is annoying and makes no sense. Halo 4 sold nearly as many as Halo 2. So why does the game have such a low population now? The FANS weren’t happy because the GAME wasn’t PLAYABLE.

A toast to our genius OP here! Well said OP!
I’ve kinda already been doing that, OP.
I love Spartan Ops in Halo 4. To prove it, I’ve played it for 10 days and 20 hours, done every single mission on every single difficulty, and have completed every single Challenge to date.
As for Multiplayer, well, looks like I’ll just keep doing what I’ve been doing: Showing my love and support for both Flood and Custom Loadouts.
Right, so you want to send a message to 343 saying: We don’t want anything to change. We want to stay in the past and keep playing the same game over and over…
Guys, I love me some Halo 3 but this is not the right mindset here. If you play Halo 3, that’s absolutely fine. But play it because you WANT to. Not to send a message.
So you think playing an older game or modes that you want back are going to show the developers that you want something back, rather then posting constructive arguements as to how a said feature or mode from an older game that when or if returned would be a great addition to the new Halo?
All of what that is going to show them is that people want a traditional Halo, which is semi true, but what people want in a new game is some form of change or innovation. Its a balance that went out of wack more so in Halo 4.
As much as I want to play as an Elite or actually have significant plot be in the game for them, constantly replaying the older games isn’t going to prove or support my point toward bringing them back.
What others and I can do is post constructive arguements about why a certain feature or mode or whatever should come back.
I can personally go on and on about how beneficial Invasion would be to the populace and how it would bridge the gap between your standard campaign and multiplayer player or how beneficial it would be for Spartan OPs to have Saved Films, an Offline mode and scoring.
I love playing my other Halo games, but just playing isn’t enough to get the message out that some changes need to made and some features and modes should be brought back.
At least on the forums, everyone has a voice and at times a constructive arguement can go a long way. One can only hope that when Halo 5 comes around that it will be a better Halo game then what we’ve got with Halo 4.

Name calling will get you no where.
> stop sitting here saying what you want, and actually DO what you want
Legendary Slayer, Throwdown and Halo 3 are not what “we” want.
Legendary Slayer and Throwdown do not offer the core gameplay that we are after, and do not bring any acceptable innovations to the table.
Halo 3 offers the core gameplay, but is from 2007. We want something genuinely new which maintains the same core gameplay.
“stop sitting here saying what you want” - Why?
Why on Earth would we need to stop voicing our concerns for Halo? Even if we were able to play a form of Halo which represented what we want, we could still voice our concerns at the same time.
What we want is represented in what we are already doing.
- We aren’t playing Halo 3 in huge numbers - because we don’t want to play the same game over and over.
- We aren’t playing Legendary or Throwdown in large numbers - because they don’t offer the core gameplay that we are after.
- We aren’t playing Halo 4 in large numbers - because it doesn’t offer the core gameplay that we are after.
- We are voicing our concerns on the forums, giving feedback and letting them know EXACTLY why we do not accept Halo 4 as an appropriate progression of the Halo games.
