If you haven't received a HW:DE code...

Hey everyone - I realize there’s a lot of frustration and disappointment with the release of Halo Wars: Definitive Edition and how the codes have (or haven’t) been distributed. We’ve been working with teams around Microsoft to try and get some help for those of you who should’ve received a code but haven’t.

If you pre-ordered the digital Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition PRIOR to 12/20 then you should have received your HW:DE code by now. If you haven’t gotten it then something is probably wrong.

First, if you have questions or are experiencing issues, please check out this page: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/games/game-titles/halo-wars-2-preorder

Secondly, if you did pre-order the digital HW2:Ultimate Edition before 12/20 and haven’t received a HW:DE code then you’re asked to try one of the following for the quickest resolution:

  • Engage with the Xbox community team via http://forums.xbox.com or @XboxSupport on Twitter. We’re told that they can check your status and issue a code if applicable.
  • If you prefer to speak with someone, please contact the call center via http://support.xbox.com and the agent should also be able to verify your status and issue a code if applicable.
  • Lastly you can also wait and hope to be included in the next wave but at this time we’re not sure when that will occur

Again this is only for customers who pre-ordered prior to 12/20. If you pre-ordered more recently than that then they won’t be able to help you and you’ll get a code in an upcoming distribution wave.
