Which would you remove to better the rest of the game.
Multiplayer and Campaign are the obvious ones to stay but if you had to do without one of the following to better the rest of the game which would it be?
Theater
Firefight
or
Forge

Personally, I would remove theatre. I rarely use i but play Firefight and Forge regularly.
Firefight. I’m not a huge fan of it, nor was I ever. Killing AI’s just isn’t as fun as it should be. Theater and Forge are necessary.
I don’t want to see any of them go. I enjoy all of these features and they separate Halo from other games.
Also, this Thread could have used a poll.

I was going to put a poll but I know that at least a few forum elitists would have came in here with the inevitable “this belongs in the polling booth fourm” bs. I just don’t feel like having a thread get derailed from kids that think they are forum cops.
To answer my own OP… I think Firefight not only should go but it needs to go. It’s just bad. I know that many people think that FF is better than say the addition of custom game bots but I see so many better uses of time than wasting it on Firefight. Campaign and Firefight are basically the same thing. They use the same maps and their are more epic firefights going on in campaign. FF and all survival style gametypes in every game are getting so annoying. The only decent one in my recent memory is Horde 2.0 in Gears 3. back to what I was saying bots are better than firefight on so many levels. You can simulate actual matchmaking matches for people to practice and get better and you can get all the testing you need for forged maps if you don’t have any friends on. It’s just all around a better idea than firefight. And before anyone bashes me about firefight… Just know that I actually somewhat enjoy the game it’s just not needed at all. Theater and Forge are a very good thing for the Halo community in general. It would be a big mistake to get rid of either of them.
If -Yoink!- does release a video capture feature for xbox in general then theater would no longer be needed.
Firefight, I wouldn’t miss it at all, survival mode is the one target Halo missed.
I wouldn’t want to remove any but if I had to remove one it would be firefight
Firefight.
thats easy…
FORGE!
> Firefight. I’m not a huge fan of it, nor was I ever. Killing AI’s just isn’t as fun as it should be. Theater and Forge are necessary.
Not to mention the ridiculous amount of development time it takes. Really theatre shouldn’t be there. It’s removal wouldn’t save any huge amount of time.
I wouldn’t remove any part of it. But what I would do is in fact split the two, kind of like Crytek did with Crysis Warhead and Crysis Wars, I would have one be the campaign and fire fight, and theater. But on the other disc I would have MP, Forge, and theater.
If I HAD to remove one, it’d be Firefight. Reach really screwed up Firefight. Instead of being a game of survival, it became a farming game with almost no challenge.
But besides that: I wouldn’t want to get rid of the other two. They are much better for Machinima makers. Firefight is worth less when I compare it to those two.
That being said, I don’t want anything to be gotten rid of. But the question was a hypothetical.
Theater. While it would make it harder to “catch those moments”, you can still (almost) do it like with any other game and record it off your TV.
We need Forge, it’s the only way we can edit the maps (without an update) and community made maps.
Firefight is a new gametype that needs more love. A lot of developers are exploring this area, giving it the title “Horde Mode”, after Gears of War 2 made it so popular. Arguable, this mode is perhaps more popular then regular matchmaking.

Yeah, in the same way that Flat Earth Theory is “arguable” and “needs more love”.
Halo is about the campaign and multiplayer. Compared to either of those two, Firefight is a small, grey, boring, mediocre black hole of development time. Either a different studio completely reinvents it or 343 ditches it, but at the moment it’s nothing more than baggage.

Firefight is Campaign v2. It really is unnessesary and almost disgusts me. Their is nothing that makes firefight any more or less unique than the encounters that you come across in the sections of campaign that the FF maps were pulled from.

By “Perhaps” you mean “to me”? Because the population for FF against MM is pretty pathetic.
Calling firefight bad is calling campaign bad. They share the same enemy types, and firefight shootouts are better than their campaign equivalents. Looking at Reach, the only thing campaign provides that firefight doesn’t, is longswords.

You’re right, Reach campaign WAS bad.

Well they aren’t going to remove campaign so why have a gametype so similar to campaign that offers nothing all that exciting. FF was good in ODST because their was no MP.
Is that co-op mode not ME’s “Multiplayer”? I never liked ME. The way the player moves around… theirs like no body flow what so ever. It’s like a hovering robot.
I would get rid of firefight its fun for a short time period but it can have pretty bad lag and the gametypes they have for anything beside solo kinda suck. I don’t use theater as much as when the game came out but still is fun so I would be sad if it was gone. Forge can have some nice maps come out of it. People have done a great job with remakes but most are not in matchmaking.
