If you ever wondered why people like Halo 5 spartan abilities this is why

You are failing at every turn. You can’t compare a vehicle that’s ONLY IN btb to a movement ability that’s attached you.

Like you seem to miss the big picture here. It’s the fact that it’s attached you that’s the problem. I don’t have an issue with throwable equipment. Just pickups that allow you to traverse the map differently.

I actuay do get Halo because I want classic over infnite. This entire time my point has been. Everyone should be the same. Move the same. From start to finish. It can be whatever it wants to be. Aslong its the same all the way throughout the game play. Halo 2 is like this. Halo 5 is like this. Halo reach Halo 4 and Halo infinite are not like this. Get it now?

Last time I’ll say this but this is why I’d argue for a whole new IP with this movement. It just totally contradicts classic Halo gameplay and personally I would never want it to come back.

I would say if Titanfall isn’t your thing then go to Splitgate. It has jet packs, although they feel like Black Ops 3 and I hated that, but it’s not terrible for splitgate.

Tried split gate. Isn’t the same. The way it worked in halo 5 allowed for more moves than any other game.

Thank you for the back and fourth. I enjoy these talks.

I will make a game like that some day. That type of movement has to be shown some justice

Go for it. I’d honestly probably of liked H5 more of it wasn’t a Halo. And yeah splitgate is fun but definitely not what you wanted. Destiny is the only other close thing but it has classes. I don’t think people need to get heated when talking about games. Just stated what you think and why you think that. I’m pro AR spawns for reasons I listed but I totally understand the pro BR spawn people and think for large population game modes there should be both as they are completely different styles of play. That’s why I advocate for Ranked AR spawns but alas I know it will never happen. I understand why you want the movement you do and hope either you make it or another IP has it because it had its good qualities.

Anyways good luck out there, ill probably play that game of yours if you ever make it.:ok_hand:

I actually want the AR and the Br and the same time. It would be better for btb and it would be pretty interesting for arena.

Or at least the pistol with the br in arena

I don’t like not having two weapons off spawn. I think the AR, pistol from Halo 5 was a good way to go about it. Even tho I loved the Halo 5 pistol I wanted another weapon with it there too.

I’m not talking about the basic movement jumps though bro. The advanced movement jumps. The insane ones that basically have you covering probably 75% of the map or more in 1 movement combo while your enemies on respawn. The spawn killing in infinite is a mixture of flawed spawns that can be fixed, but also if you’re playing with randoms amd it’s objective, your team mates sometimes are scattered and mess the spawns up. It’s not like a match of reget for example where you can set up on the map and have a dude teeter tottering top mid sight lines into top red or blue spawn to spawn players bottom bases and have a player swooping in each timed spawner and into a 1v1 before the dude can even see anything sometimes man. Did it become a legit strategy? Well yea. It became part of the skill gap. Can you do this in infinite? Not without default movement abilities. Like that example is literally hounding a spawner. It also happened on other maps in other ways. You played high level h5 too so I’m sure you know what i mean.

It just doesn’t play out that way. The spawn killing and bad spawns are due to your team screwing up spawns but also some bad spawns by design that hopefully can get fixed. Perhaps it can be argued that God spawns have always existed but its been so long since I’ve played the other games.

I’m reading some of your replies to others in this thread and I’m seeing the examples. Like I get what you mean about the map called streets where there’s thrusters located right outside subway on arcade street, and there’s drop shield by A tower. This goes back to what I said. The equipment is there for a reason. You spawning subway (C) at least 1 player can gain an advantage to thrust across space to get to cover or close the distance to fight people in arcade, camping tires, etc. The other side has drop shield to temporarily fortify A tower or whatever they chose to go. There’s weapons and such to provide an advantage at each side as well. This leads into a different topic though.

Bazaar has thrusters located to the platform across from palm trees on each side. Thrusters are below rockets in the middle of the map. OS in the middle of the map. Different map design. Aquarius has thrusters front base.

So back to streets. Subway spawns have thrusters to close distance going arcade street, stalker rifle on balcony at subway, spike grenades if you travel purple street, and distruptor straight ahead of spawn to take enemies out of play for like 10 seconds because the dirsuptor is like the most underrated weapon in the game. 3 shots literally takes an enemy out of play with DOT (damage over time) and 6 shots kills them with DOT.

A tower has dropwall and bulldog primarily as the advantages imo, with bulldog and dropwall being annoying to fight against if it’s oddball and they were able to get ball back to A tower or PD. It feels like 1 team has more potential to have a better set up while the other has more tools to break the set up. It’s my favorite map, but to be honest I couldn’t tell you why. I can see this map being one where it can be dissected in detail to really see if it works with what is has, or if it doesn’t. I like the fights on this map, but the locations of items like you’re saying can be something to note. Right now I see it this way, where each side has a different advantage and kind of like a counter to each other in a way.

This is where playing with a team has team starting strats by utilizing map pick ups. It’s a fight for rockets, oddball, orstrongholds. So many ways to play the match when you’re playing with friends and thinking. Alone though? Halo is c@ncer alone imo. I can’t do it and won’t ever play halo alone again. I uninstalled halo 5 probably 4 or 5 times because of such bad experiences. I did love that damn game though. I came back eventually. When I reflect on that game it’s just amatter of either loving the game for what it was and leave it at that, or compare it to another halo and see why things were this or that way and why they’re different now.

For you specifically though, at this rate it sounds like you want sprint stripped with slide as well, and back to classic? Like go all in or don’t right? What will you do? Will you keep playing? It doesn’t seem like you’ll get what you want out of the game, and the most you could do is provide feedback for bad spawns of both spawners in the game and spawns of the items on the map. Those can be changed…but hoping for an all in or out playlist when there isn’t even slayer? Man it just won’t happen and if it does will take years. I honestly thought I’d hop on infinite to see

  • team arena
  • team slayer
  • classic throwback (disabled modern movement)
  • turbo slayer (h5 ish settings)
  • ffa

Etc etc. Like this central hub bro wher it literally has ever game type imaginable for every fan of each game. 10 year game with so much replay value each time you log on…if you loved classic…load outs…5…and a mix of them all…like why not? We got less than a hand full of playlists though. A lot of people do like the multiplayer, but there are the fans that loved 1 of the halos the most and have never again got something similar.

Getting into conversations on why it was placed there in the first place is kinda why I don’t like them. Because you can claim that the ability was there for that spot but in reality they can take the ability and run anywhere they want in the map and use it.

One frustrating example of this is when I was playing an oddball match. There were 3 people in one hallways. It was a close match and idk trying to get the ball from the enemy team. One grappled to something behind me and then ended up behind me. The other had a repulsor and there was only one way to get to the ball or else I had to go all the way around. I’m already walking towards this player. I’m about to finish him off with a meele and he pushes me away with the repulsor. That sandwiched me between his shots and the guy with the grapple behind me and then the third guy finished me off. All of this happened in one hallway. My teammates were there but theres only so much you can do when there’s someone flying around and something pushing stuff away all while nades are flying everywhere. What can you do when you have no abilites. All the abilites have been picked up and they also haven’t spawned yet and your forced to play the objective orlese they would win. It’s super frustrating and not fun at all. I could imagine lower skill players tearing their hair out because of this.

The thing I liked about Halo 5 was that you can create classic Halo inside of it. You won’t be able to do the reverse with Halo 5 in halo infinite. They would have to add all the abilites in. I want them for custom games. I thing everything from every Halo should come back as custom game options

I think the fight for rockets is a more fair fight then for the abilites. The ability pick up is a lot more personal than the power weapons. Often at times you would find yourself walking over an ability without even being in a heated battle for it.

Its hard to really say anything about that hallway scenario without being in the match with you or seeing the whole thing. It goes back to what everyone would basically say. Control those items so they can’t be used against you, or seize them from the enemies before they can use them when you’re in too far. That’s why each equipment has a visual. You know when the dude shooting across from you has the reuplsor. Baiting you into fall off spot. Huge thing on his forearm that you can’t miss.

But I get you. Oddball is real chaotic in nature, and you can’t just sit still with the time ticking. It’s just still hard to say how many hand outs were given vs your team mates sleeping on the map pick ups.

As a side note, I’ve encountered the spawns right next to the equipment with sometimes no immediate pressure. I think a spawn location on recharge is right near the sword and repulsor. It’s something to go into theater to see what made me spawn there, how good is it for competitive, etc.

In your opinion, can the maps be tailored in terms of the map picks up being located somewhere better? Something you’d see more fair? Or is this just something you’ll never see as fair because 1 guy can have something the other doesn’t , both have equal starts and can get that item, but one may be gifted it under random circumstances in a match when playing alone?

Player count after how many years?

The game did lose popularity that is definitely the case, but as a new Call of Duty came out every year, Halo 5 did just fine.

In fact, in 2018 there was an article about the resurgence of the Halo 5 player numbers.

A lot of players don’t want to admit that Halo 5 did good after all the content was in. Thing is. I don’t agree with content being later on down the line. Also at the same.time at launch Halo 5 was a more robust game which did lead to some of it’s success

I didn’t reference player count, so I have no idea what this means in reference to my comment.

I want some numbers to back this claim up.

Again, numbers my guy.

What were launch numbers?

What were numbers like prior to 2018, what were they post?

Claims without data do nothing.

When I personally put Halo 5 down (never beat the campaign, only hit SR27), I never had any inclination to pick it back up, and I never did. The game just didn’t cut it.

My claim is anecdotal much like a few of your own claims (“sorry Charlie everyone liked it” no they didn’t lol). Best to take your experience with the game with a healthy grain of salt.

The universe is weird man because I remember myself playing with hundreds of friends daily rotating out. We would have a blast doing customs because the forge was so good.

So many btb lobbies. So many fun times. You definitely missed out

I really don’t think I did.

Shortly after dropping Halo 5 I started playing Overwatch when it dropped the upcoming spring and had a truly amazing 3 years of that.

Different strokes man, Halo 5 didn’t cut it after Halo 4 didn’t cut it, after I had a blast with years of 3 and Reach.

I really enjoyed the beta then everything changed

They downgraded the graphics so everything looks worse the sounds got dumbed down

The spartan movement and abilites were nerfed to the point of almost being useless and all the weapons were nerfed losing speed and damage

To this day I feel the beta was halo 5 at its peek the release is just a watered down version

You play halo 5 for those differences if you don’t like any of that you now have infinite where we have nothing

Halo 5 kept being updated to become more like halo 3 so now no one likes it

It’s not just the movement its the setting and player expectation

If your going to make a game please aim for the halo 5 beta where the abilites actually did damage and the weapons were super strong too

Its the perfect middle between instant death call of duty and slow grandad halo 3

The graphics and sounds where better too

I was thinking away you would improve the spartan abilities is by layering them so your normal sprint would be fast but not jet assisted and then you double sprint which activates your boosters and now everyone knows where you are but now you can shoulder charge and if you jump you can ground slam while moving

Gliding, dodge and ground pound would stay the same but now being tired to the jump button instead of ads also shoulder charge grants nearly the same boost as dodge

These now have a trade off to become stronger

All I can say is halo 5 as much as I hated campaign it had a solid multiplayer and was way better then this f2p infinite sh*t show.
