If you could take one thing...

From a previous game in the franchise (including off titles and Halo wars) and introduce it into this game, what would it be?

Mine would be a visual ranking system, since I truly believe that’s the key to longevity in a game. But if I had to choose something slightly unorthodox, I would probably choose the plasma rifle from Halo 3. Force to be reckoned with in CQC.

Thoughts? What are you guys thinking.

Covies speaking English. I don’t care for any in-game justifications why they should or should not speak English, it was just mad fun. Just search for “halo funny lines” on youtube and you’ll know what I mean.

I know exactly what you’re talking about. haha Canon or not, don’t care. There were some seriously funny moments in past campaigns with their banter. I miss it. :[

Hahaha No. Not in this game. although it’s a novel thought.

Descoping.

Actually it is cannon for alot of the covenant to speak English. Lots of the grunts and some of the elites learnt English to translate.

Also main thing i want back would either be the vehicles or the plasma rifle

CE: AI behavior (who doesn’t like freeroaming Hunters?), bouncy vehicles (driving the Ghost into a Scorpion, 2 Hogs charging at each other = epic flips), grenade piles (dropped grenades detonate on the spot, massive chain reactions)
H2: sword cancel
H3: deployable cover
ODST: VISR
Reach: concussion rifle (CE/H2/Reach launches are vastly superior to H4’s. Though you could say this is somewhat on par)

Flinch is so terrible. The only reason it works in COD is because of the hundredth of a second it takes to kill. In this game, it just ruins battles.

I will say, good list. I’m kind of surprised at the deployable cover from 3 though. Why not power drain? Or bubble shield? What made deployable cover your favorite?

No comment on the concussion rifle from Reach considering I think I have used that gun maybe 5 times ever due to me scarcely playing that god awful game.

Grunts that made me laugh, especially with IWBYD skull enabled, you killed my brother always made me smile.

It’s not so much that I hate flinch. It’s more to do with the gameplay that a lack of descoping promotes. The campy games where you have people just waiting around for someone to walk into their sights just bore the hell out of me. With descoping you can press forward by putting a couple of shots in, removing some of their range and accuracy. Without descoping it’s not unlike the trenches of world war 1. Both front lines living in absolute dread of being ordered to move forward.

I die a little inside everytime someone says the removal of descoping was an “evolution”.

Well I didn’t actually break any rules (save for CE’s list). I simply read it as ‘list 1 thing from each game’. :wink:

The concussion rifle is indeed crap for combat but it’s great for launches. I used to hate it and thought the Brute Shot was better but now I see it the other way around (except for meleeing).

I do work with the H4 Concussion Rifle. You just need to know how to aim it.

P.s. I have been killed by that thing several times. I know how it works (knockback = disorientation).
