If you can head shot someone with a pistol then why not an AR?

So a side arm bullet can kill in one shot but 7.62 cant?

Obvious answers are obvious but please come up with something creative.

Obviously not.

The AR doesn’t headshot for the same reason the shotgun is an effective CQB-weapon, gameplay mechanics.
In lore-reality, the armour-plating, nano-crystal ballistic suit and hydrostatic-gel combination makes the shotgun nearly useless against a MJOLNIR wear unless it’s a visor shot.

The shotgun will deplete a user’s shields but is 95% ineffective against the suit itself.

Besides the Needle Rifle feels left out and lonely because of you.

it would be lame if it did. its a fully automatic weapon. if it could headshot people it would be ridiculously overpowered, taking almost no effort to headshot people with. guns like the DMR, the pistol, and the NR actually take a LITTLE BIT of skill to headshot with. the AR takes a minimal amount of skill to headshot with because it shoots so fast.

It’s because of the gameplay mechanics. Canonically it’s very possible for AR headshots to be more lethal, but in terms of gameplay giving a fullt automatic weapon with a large spread the ability to have instantly fatal headshots against unshielded targets would add an incredible amount of randomness to the game. The reason single shot or burst fire weapons are given headshot capability is because they require precision to be effective and you’re not going to get a random headshot with them while shooting at center mass (except with the DMR if you get lucky, but that’s its own problem).

The pistol kills in headshots because it runs on leprechaun energy. The AR only runs off of a mere 4-leaf clover.
