If you are not good.... you are not allowed to have fun

Aiming definitely needs improvement. I started off terrible, but I’m slowly getting a bit better. I’ve accepted at this point no Halo is going to be like CE for me, in terms of my ability to consistently be okay at the game. I’m just going to be all over the place in every other Halo.

Yeah, this iteration is once again not for casual players of multiplayer. That makes two games in a row now.

I was able to make a custom game where I could mimic a more classic feel in movement and mechanics. But I’ll need a custom game browser to populate a match.

It’s not even about being old really. I feel the same way. There tends to be a lack of playlists and I don’t get why the people who don’t care enough to constantly have to try every single match have to suffer people who want to play competitively all the time. Why are there not hoppers where players can play a specific game mode and not have to worry about things like skill based matchmaking? Some days people just want to unwind and mindlessly play with worrying about winning or losing. I can’t even get that in the quickplay hopper.

It’s never about just “getting good”. It’s about having fun. The “get good” playlists are ranked. We don’t need to keep alienating fans from having a good time by forcing them to maintain a minimum level of skill to have even a modicum of fun.

Back up or melee if close. The aiming gets weirder, the closer you get. Double melee is seemingly faster than melee fire at the moment so take advantage when close.

My controller is broken beyond belief and Amazon have ruined 2 orders so when I look left and right the reticle goes up and down as well like a wave. I don’t even know what part is the controller and what part is the weird aim anymore so I don’t even know why I’m commenting

Ever so slightly off-topic, but it’s nice to read a thread that isn’t a load of screaming at 343i or each other.

I sympathise with OP; I actually prefer ranked (slave to the BR) but am starting to feel the SBMM in Social and unless you’re sweating there too, it isn’t much fun - or is very stressful.

I’ve found myself playing BTB more to relax. I’m not interested in vehicles, but have found that you can into some crazy skirmishes at choke points, at control points etc, which I’ve enjoyed stress-free. Might be worth a try.

Aiming I’m OK with, but as mentioned above the closer you get the harder it is to aim, 100%.

There will NEVER be social games on Halo - never!

People use the socials as warmups so try hard to get warmed up or they find themselves with people who are a lot worse than them so try hard to get clips, multikills and feel good about themselves for a couple of minutes until they become the victims in the next game.

Even fiesta in H5 was full of 4 man teams try harding and screaming like girls so much I disabled voice chat altogether unless friends (which took messaging away with it).

Mongoose sumo is probably the less screamy try hard of all games because people are too busy trying to keep their tongues in their mouths from concentrating too much.

Gamers only care about realism these days.

If we wanna be really realistic, then the folks at Misarah Foundry should stop making weapons.

Things will update to be more accessible. For now, if you want a comfortable easy game they do have the bots and custom games. From everything I’ve heard from influencers with campaign access, it should be nothing short of amazing.

not to mention SBMM i hate that too cant find anyone but sweats

The jiggle I believe youre talking about is recoil pattern. This is intentional, to give the gun more "impact’ and a “umph” feeling, and also to add a skill gap. If the was no recoil it would be way to easy to BR someone. Having the option to turn on/off doesnt make sense because the player with it ON has an objective disadvantage.

I appreciate the OP for sharing a post like this. I’m still giving the game time, but right now I’m most certainly not loving Infinite. I’m grinding for the sake of grinding…and hoping at some point something about this game will click for me.

Hopefully, time will smooth things out.

I’m talking strictly about the animation of the AR when it is firing.
It looks like it’s gonna fall apart after jiggling harder than Nicki Minaj’s butt.

Yeah that’s blatantly not true. You’re calling everyone I play with and have known for (in some cases actually lived with) hackers. We’re good at the game, not crazy amazing, but darn good and we enjoy the game because it’s balance and mechanics work so well, but we aren’t hacking. It’s a return to form for the franchise, so maybe it’s the lack of cheese or higher skill floor akin to Halo 3 thats throwing you off, because it certainly isn’t hackers.

This is as bad as saying “oh he outplayed me, he must be a PC/Console players”. Just admit you got outplayed, it’s really ok. I do it, I move on, I get a better match, I get better and have fun. I don’t dwell on each and every time I was beaten by a player that was better than me and lump them into a false sense of hacking just to justify the loss.

It’s fairly difficult to tell when someone is rocking a software advantage well (subtly hacking, not blatant), just like unless you’re looking for nuanced tells it’s difficult to know whether your opponent has a controller advantage or is just a better shot on M/KB.

Hacking is not rampant, as someone who actively participated in CSGO’s ‘Overwatch’ community driven anticheat observation program for years, it takes patience and understanding to realize that hackers are really not all that common and you should really dial back on the hyperbolic misinformation. If you truly suspect someone of hacking, record them and make a YouTube video about it.

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY! 343 has got to fix this game and make it balanced for casual players. They must fix the skill gap. I can’t even aim on anybody, not even bots. I’m always firing blindly because my gun weaves all over the place with no form of aim assist. I want to enjoy this game, but the skill gap is absurd.

Agreed, in ranked last night our team (Diamond, 2 Plats, a Gold) went up again 2 Onyx, a Diamond and a Plat.

If this gets translated into QP you’re in for a rough time.

Glad someone said it. Saying ‘everyone who’s good is cheating’ is such a butthurt response.

There are plenty of issues with Infinite but that is the response of a bad loser and someone that’ll never enjoy the game even were it perfect.

As a PC player who plays with controller, I love crossplay.

And it sucks you can’t play online games against other people because of your condition. Have you tried turn based games?

This is an interesting perspective because most my buds are bout mid 30s and played Halo a lot over the last two decades.

We found that we pretty much do well in a more classical sandbox and truer arena gunplay while the population seems to have a hard using weapons at their correct range and role, playing the objective that doesn’t involve kills, breaking down shields, etc. We really like this gameplay while I’m assuming it’s younger players wanting BR starts, crit dmg on shields, loadouts, etc.

But you don’t need to no-life the game to get better. Based on what you’re saying, you simply need to reassess your sensitivity on each zoom level. Anybody can excell at this game.
