If we get forgable AI, then what?

I’ve seen quite a few requests from various Halo fans for quite a while now for forgable AI. I’ve even asked for it myself before, but as I’ve had experience with games that have deployable AI actors on multiplayer maps, they rarely turn out how you were hoping them to be. Usually when they can be deployed in competitive MP environments, they are rarely fitted with tools to alter their behavior past basic rules, I’ve never heard of a console game that gives you the tools to generate nav mesh for AI characters and ai pathing (not an actual argument, just stating my ignorance and welcoming anybody to show me wrong).

So if we use something like Far Cry’s AI to set as a standard for deployable ai in it’s map creator, do you think it’s really worth expending that time and resources to put it in? What will you do with those actors, how will you use them? How would you see this significantly improving Halo?

And bear in mind: I’m sort of playing devil’s advocate with this one. I’d actually think it’d be cool to even get simple ai to play with, just want to hear your justifications for the resource use to put it in and have built to be accessible by forgers.

Well needed post, I never saw a problem with a successful halo custom game, I don’t see why it is so needed/wanted it feels like it would change custom games completely and their would be an ai on every forge made map, that is just my opinion yet I do, agree with op.

Isn’t offline play literally just Campaign?

Not everyone hosts 16-player customs lobbies all the time (obviously because it’s a freaking chore) so even as an online player you have limited methods to play your own maps, and a custom games browser would quickly remedy this, but on the flipside not everyone has Xbox Live Gold to begin with. People just want to test their Forge maps and spawn placement at their leisure without being hopelessly alone. Actually, without Gold it’s the ONLY way to play your maps…

Personally I think people need to stop telling themselves bots are just for fighting.

I would rather see other cool features such as:

  • Changing gravity directing and heaviness in a volume - adjusting a single spawn point to flip team colors after so many rounds - Team specific weapons meaning weapons that only one team can pick up and the other can’t
    These were just a few things I would love to see before AI get put into the game

Machinema makers would love it.

But think about making your own campaign! Mario maker, but for Halo.

Then we still have an amazing multiplayer.

No it was not the reason why. they want to finalize it and have people love the way it comes out, not hate it until it is truly finish. I think a lot of people will find that a later better way.

Hating it that it is delayed instead of it not working.
