if we didnt LOVE HALO we WOULDNT POST AT ALL

im sure many of you have seen posts that hint at people hating halo, and especially halo reach. this couldnt be further from the case.

we wont write these posts just to be negative, we write them because we care deeply about the overall health of the game, and we want halo to flourish like it once did, and reach blatantly doesnt (stop living in a magical fairy land. reach is failing hard in terms of population).

please keep in mind that, while some of our posts may seem harsh, or negative, or that were mostly bashing halo reach, its not because we dont love halo, its because we love halo immensely, and we dont like seeing our ‘halo baby’ thrown to the wolves like it was with reach’s silly mechanics.

we care, so we post about ways to fix the things that are broken. if we didnt care, we wouldnt post at all.

so please keep that in mind, everyone

i just really hope 343 actually reads some of these threads and pulls good information from them. i’d certainly trust the development process of multiplayer with MANY of our community members more than i currently trust 343 with them. its an unfortunate reality, but im sure many people feel the same way. hopefully 343 delivers with halo 4, and brings halo back to either #1 on xbox live, or at the very least #2.

we can all agree we shouldnt be losing to not one, not two, but THREE call of duty games, right? especially considering MW2 came out WAY before reach did.

People throw the ‘‘Hate’’ word around too much in these forums, Truth is know one here hates Halo if they have the passion to take there time to come on here and post,
They may dislike certain things and choices made by both Bungie and 343i,
But that’s about as far as i think it goes.

Oh boy, this guy and this thread again.

I think what you meant there was ‘Reach was garbage because I couldn’t abuse the midrifles in the same way I could in Halo 3. 343i, fix this for Halo 4 and do everything I say, or you’re going to suck just as hard’.

Look, you’ve got good intentions so I’ll leave your backside un-chewed this time, but I’ll leave this for you to think on:

Just because you and your try-hard buddies hated Reach, don’t assume the rest of us do. Hell, the reason I stopped playing Reach wasn’t because of other games, or even because Reach was supposedly ‘bad’.

No, I stopped because you imposed a Title Update I never asked for upon a game that didn’t need it, due purely to your inability to adapt to change. Thanks to you, the only viable playlist I have left is Invasion, and that gets tedious after a while.

The player count has dropped since the Title Update implementation. I know, I’ve been watching. So, quite frankly:

"Dear 343i

Here’s a great example of the type of person whose suggestions and comments are going to lead Halo down the swirly. I hope you’ve got a box of gags at the ready.

Love,
Rosie"

If people spent less time hate’n on Reach and more time playing it then maybe they could start to enjoy it a little more. (Coming from a Halo vet)

I just don’t see all the hate for Halo Reach. With the fact that we now have awesome maps (CEA maps) and better gameplay (TU settings) I don’t understand why people don’t just play and enjoy the changes to the things they’ve been complaining about.

No AA’s, No Bloom, Quicker Kill times, Maps that don’t suck. The community is imppossible to please but it’s better to play and find some fun than to come on here and complain about things that 343i are already very aware of. The only thing that I can really suggest for 343 is to make great 4v4 maps because that is the bread and butter of Halo. Other than that it doesn’t matter how much I get into how the game should play, How the aim acceleration should -Yoink-, How other mechanics in the game should work… They are going to do what they feel is right reguardless of how the comminity feels about it.

So please… to all the angry complaining community of Halo bros… go play some Halo and let 343 do what they do. At this point in the games dev cycle I’m sure they are more worried about fine tuning rather than what helmet you’d like to see make a return or how much aim assist you’d like to see in the game.

Sorry if I’m coming off as a jerk at all.

I’m not trying to be rude, but the TU made this game more balanced.
please list the things that you do not like about the TU and why and then we’ll talk.

  • Precision weapons now dominate in most situations, negating the need for anything short of a power weapon

  • Bleed-through is incredibly broken, mainly because Reach was not designed around it.

  • Sword is even more OP with the removal of sword-block

  • Jetpack and Evade are still OP

  • Double melee needs fixing

And I’m sure there’s more. The TU did very little and overlooked way too much.

can you prove that the TU is the main, or only cause of the decrease in population size? you cant? HOW UNFORTUNATE. tell ya what, lets leave the fortune telling to fortune tellers. you arent some sort of omnipotent being who knows the exact cause of the decline in population size. quite frankly, i really doubt you even have the data to back up any claims that the TU is the direct cause of this. and how the heck could you?

did you look back at past halo games with some sort of god-tier algorithm to tell the average decay of population in a halo game then compare it to the decay of halo reach since release, paying close attention to not only when the TU came out, but also what events came out around the time of the TU cough MW3 cough?

no? DIDNT THINK SO. lets leave the random blatant GUESSES as to why the population size is dwindling at the door. i mean… reaches population has been canyoning SINCE RELEASE.

heres a thought: maybe its because MW3 came out recently or something crazy like that. after all, COD games cater to the people reach tried to cater to 100x better than reach ever has, or ever will.

heck, most casual players know that armor lock is a blatant fail, and ive heard more than one average halo player say hateful things about how stupid jet pack is for halo.

also, when the heck did i say anything about wanting to abuse mid-range rifles? and do you not realize that the DMR in reach is more oppressive to the rest of the sandbox than the BR EVER WAS in halo 3 due to its versatility in bloom? maybe you’ve missed my umpteen posts about how the AR is lacking in every regard in halo reach? heck, ive even made a thread about it in this very forum!

laughable strawman attack is laughable.

1.) precision weapons dominate the sandbox in most situations in 100% bloom AND 85% bloom. this argument hasnt been valid since the first time it was used, and it certainly isnt any more valid the more times people try to use it.

2.) incredibly broken… in your opinion?

3.) agree. but sword block can be re-added.

4.) the TU didnt even address these things. how the heck are these things even relevant when discussing the TU? actually, if anything, the TU actually NERFS evade because you cant take shots, then evade at someone and double smack them before they can shoot your shields off and melee you anymore.

5.) double melees are a non issue, and yet another invalid point. if you are getting double meleed in TU reach, youre doing it wrong, and its not the games fault you are constantly failing to achieve different results from the same blatant play mistakes.

especially considering all you have to do to DIRECTLY COUNTER someone trying to double melee you is WALK BACKWARDS. or SHOOT THEM then MELEE THEM.

personally, i’d rather write 100000 words that MIGHT help the future of halo than play a mediocre halo game.

i probably spend just as much, or more time on the forums as i do in game.

I know Urza can be extreme at times but you can’t fault the guy for being passionate about the games. You throw the word try hard as something to be scoffed at. Really, is it bad to try hard to win? I mean even if you play for “fun” (really vague their pal) you have an overall goal within a gametype to be the first to 50. At least when we play, we do to our fullest and don’t use the excuse “i play for funs” when we do terrible (if we do bad it’s combination of mistakes or/and the other team was simply better or had bad host in which case the latter will make anyone rage).

The player count has not been affected by TU. The holiday sales is reason why we are hitting 100k players now (something Reach struggled to do before) and the TU has not really decreased the population count. Do you see it hitting below 10k? Is this game dead? If you answer yes to both counts, slap you’re self twice please.

Trust me random, if we pitted vanilla players against pro TU players on either settings, they would get dominated. Not just because of difference in skill but also the difference in understanding the game. Stop trying act cool and flaming Urza. While i know he can get flamey in his own right(i don’t encourage flaming in general good player or not), you’re not doing any better.

It’s time to adapt to settings closer to Halo, like you’ve been telling us for this past year to adapt to Reach.

  1. I don’t see how this argument is invalid. In vanilla, I can take out a DMR user at close to mid range with an AR when used correctly. In vanilla Reach, the sandbox is balanced, by my experience. My main point, however, is that, no matter how unbalanced it was before, it’s worse now. I don’t mean to say get rid of the TU, but re-balance the sandbox around the new mechanics.

  2. Yes, in my opinion, mainly due to the health pack glitch. Over all, to me it seems, melee is too powerful. I like double melee, but the default melee seems much more powerful than Halo 3, which I believe had it right.

  3. I definitely don’t want to add sword block back, but add a cool-down for the sword and hammer when a player is using sprint.

  4. My point is that the TU failed to address many issues. It addressed a small number in an unsatisfactory manner and ignored several other issues.

  5. see number 2

COD is a casual gamer’s game now. It will likely be at the top of the charts for years to come. Halo is a competitive title, and since the majority of gamers are casual, well…

It is, and this is true of COD in general, not just MW2. Casual gamers make up the majority of the consumer base, they always have. With all the military shooters, Halo is no longer the go-to shooter, and it likely never will be again.

Honestly, so long as I can find a match and have fun, that’s all that maters.

Halo may never be king again, but I wanted at least in the top 3 ya know?

I can be happy with that.

Tired of matching foreign host… and they are pretty sure they are tired of matching me when I pull host.
