If Warzone returns, we need new Armor Mods

Halo 5 had a good set of Armor REQs, but there’s always room for more. If Halo Infinite has Warzone, it’ll need to have some new options.

Here are my ideas. Names are placeholders.

> Torch and Burn
> While equipped, any weapons you are carrying disintegrate when you die, and any vehicles you are piloting self-destruct upon your death. Additionally, your damage against vehicles is slightly increased.

Don’t you just hate pulling out a Legendary weapon, getting sniped in the head, and then an enemy steals your weapon? Torch and Burn would prevent that by causing your weapons to disintegrate upon your death. Yes, you can’t go recover your Legendary weapon, but given you probably won’t get back to it in time before it despawns or someone steals it, this isn’t much of a problem. To avoid having this perk be too niche, it also grants you slightly increased damage against vehicles. Note that this is NOT akin to COD Martyrdom; you don’t drop a live grenade when you die, your weapons just turn to dust. This also helps if you’re piloting a high-tier Ghost and get sniped in the head; your vehicle won’t be poached by an enemy player.

> Hardened Targeting
> You do not descope if you take incoming fire while scoped in. This effect is incompatible with certain weapons (i.e. Sniper Rifles).

I always hated getting descoped while trying to use a Hydra because it meant you’d lose your target lock. Additionally, it can be annoying when you are forcibly descoped while using a BR or DMR. This perk would allow you to stay scoped in even if you’re being shot. However, to keep it from being too powerful, this perk would be incompatible with sniper weapons; you could still have the perk equipped, but you’ll still get descoped if you’re hit while using a Beam Rifle.

> Target Scrambler
> Enemy weapons have greater difficulty acquiring you as a target while you are on foot.

This one’s a little vague, but it’d have two main effects. The first is that homing weapons will take longer to lock on to you, but only while you’re on foot (sorry, Banshee players). The second is that enemies will need to get closer to you for aim magnetism and “red reticle range” to kick in. Essentially, this would be a counter to things like Long Barrel weapons. This could also be extended to have additional effects if we get any sort of specialized scopes (i.e. IR vision), keeping you from being lit up by said vision.

> Silent Takedown
> When you kill an enemy, they do not leave behind a death marker.

Helpful if you’re trying to be covert, this probably should be attached to some other Armor perk, but this can help in large-scale battles where people can’t quite pay attention to everyone at all times. (This one comes from a similar perk from COD Ghosts.) While this could be strong with a Prophet’s Bane, it doesn’t give you any sort of direct combat boost, so in a straightforward shootout, an enemy with a different perk may, all things equal, beat you.

Of course, there’s probably room for more, but that’s what I can think of at the moment. If you wish to add stuff, feel free to do so.

I don’t know i think you made those thinking on the things you hate, i mean the descope have been in all halos, the torch and burn would be a waste, imagine that you died in your garage by some random guy and you lost your SPNKr Prime.
Target scrambler would be too op if someone use a banshee or pheiton.
Silent takedown with prophets bane will be the absolute terror in warzone, everyone trowing grenades to everywhere.
We need something more fair for both teams

Halo 5 warzone didn’t have very many armor mods when you think about it… Most of the armor mods are grenade/ explosive related. Here are some of my ideas:

  • Level 7-8: (Taking fire) Targets any enemy that inflicts damage on you - Level 6: (Need some juice) Gain some shield rechearge with melee hits, drain shields to extend vehicle boosting - Level 4: (Electric slide) Emit EMP blast when sliding - Level 5: (Can’t touch this!) Basically Increased movement speed on steroids, but only as your shields drain. It would be nice if they had a seperate tab for grenade/ explosive related armor mods.

I know Descope has been a thing in all the Halo games, but one should be able to block it if they wish. I find it a little awkward that they give us so many different sights but they become useless if you take even a small potshot from an SMG at range.

If you’re in your garage and don’t want to lose that SPNKr Prime, you don’t have to equip Torch and Burn. But if you’re out in the field and don’t want an enemy to steal your Legendary or Mythic stuff, T&B would be helpful.

But yeah, I guess Target Scrambler should be changed so it’s incompatible with vehicles.

Silent Takedown would certainly be nasty, but keep in mind that it doesn’t improve your combat capabilities directly. If you’re forced into a straight shootout, someone with a different perk would, all else equal, beat you.

I really don’t want the REQ system to comeback it was really annoying to me.

I have my doubts Warzone will return to begin with since it relied heavily on the controversial Requisition System which seems to be getting removed or at least worked around since it won’t use real world money. The concept wasn’t bad but the execution could’ve been alot better.

I agree. They said they were not going to implement a micro transaction in Infinite so the idea of a REQ systems is unlikely. Now having something similar would be great if they use some sort of credit system like in Reach.

In my opinion the concept was actually pretty bad, not just the execution. I really hope Warzone doesn’t return in Halo Infinite.

I sincerely hope that Warzone returns in Halo Infinite. It is without a doubt one of the best game modes in Halo, and one that I have spent many hours playing. Especially in PVE mode. Any idea that seeks to improve this game mode is welcome.
