Boltshot range will be reduced, team throwdown is about as classic as halo 4 is gunna get, and who knows what’s more to the title update.
I’m excited to try out throwdown honestly you guys, I envision some pretty competitive games in the near future.
BR starts was a good choice too.
As was explosions tactical package (or support upgrade I don’t remember) because grenades are a little weak without it.
And for some of you who were a little frustrated, it looks like the covenant liche is getting some action too lol…

There’s no in game visible ranking system. The games will never be competitive. There’s nothing on the line.
So who’s the guy that said there has to be a visable rank to make a game competitive. What, is trying you best to win and beat the guy next to you not competitive enough?
I liked visable ranking in halo 3 and all, helped me know who to avoid in FFA, but the whole argument that it’s needed to produce competitive play is rediculous.

So who’s the -Yoink- that said there has to be a visable rank to make a game competitive. What, is trying you best to win and beat the guy next to you not competitive enough, you have to have a big floppy E--Yoink!- to make others want to beat you.

Are you seriously worried about the fact that becasue you don’t have a dumb number next to your profile that it won’t be competitive even though the settings are perfect? I can’t stand this.

What ever happened to playing for fun? Why does someone always need a dumb number to make themself feel better?
And besides, maybe they will change it becasue we don’t know what’s in all of the update. But the fact that you can’t have fun becasue there’s no number to show off when you do well is absolute stupidity.
I understand wanting a competitive experience, but a rank is not necessary. Halo 3’s servers are still running, you’re quite welcome to go there since there’s no point without a skill rank.

There’s some people who won’t really try unless there’s money on the line. With ABSOLUTELY nothing on the line, there’s a huge chunk of the player base who are just gunna float around the map aimlessly and not care at all.

Pretty much, people are just angry they can’t flaunt their E-egoes at other players like they could on H2 and H3 where rank trash talking seemed to be the daily bread.

However, you will never satisfy people on the internet. This thread will, as we can already see will be full of complaints that have been debated and discussed to death.
But, you, I, and many many others are excited and are appreciative. We also continue to look forward to more in the future.

That was before ranks were introduced.
Back in the day people thought it was incredibly exciting to watch a game show that was giving away 5,000 dollars OMG. Now shows give out millions. If you put a show on the air now that gave out 5,000 it would excite no one.
The Halo community is used to having ranks. Taking them away makes the game feel utterly pointless and boring. “Isn’t just beating your opponent enough?” No, because they’re faceless, nameless randoms on the internet. Beating them means nothing. I will never see or hear from them again.
And yet Halo CE on PC is still played by many (Like my self) also you can’t really compare a show that gives out MONEY to a game that only gives you a number or a shiny emblem, they are totally different leagues, and yet I think even a show offering 5 grand would still exite people because free MONEY is always going to do that.
So the comparison it self is flawed, so again Halo CE is the most competitive Halo out of them all and it has NO ranks whatsoever.
Want to hear another popular FPS wich is also very competitive and doesnt have ranks? How about Unreal Tournament?

I for one dont mind the lack of an in game ranking system and yes I was a 50 in H3 before you go all ZOMFG you must be a casual thats why you dont like ranks.
I simply dont care for the number I play for fun, and for me wanting to beat the opposing team is what competitive means.

I guarantee you the playlist will have a population of under 1000 within a week or two.
It’s too hardcore for the masses and it isn’t giving competitive players what they want.

Again, you are naming old games. Every current competitive game has visible ranks. Starcraft 2, league of legends, Counterstrike GO. Hell, even COD now has visible in game ranks.
Visible in game skill based ranks is now the competitive norm. Without it, your game is 100% casual. Playing for nothing is not going to entice competitive players who have been playing games with ranks for a decade now.
You’re arguing with logic against people who have none. There will ALWAYS be whining here because 343i will never make everyone happy and they will come here to complain.
But yes, the bulletin was great. Competitive playlist/ranking on Monday, TU in two weeks, map pack in two weeks, Forge maps in playlists, new/tuned playlists, etc…
I mean seriously, they are doing everything they can to support the MP, improve it, and keep it fresh.

And since there are so many other games that have a point to playing them apparently because they have a dumb skill number, be my guest and play those. You are the kind of person I can’t stand. The person that needs ranks, skill grades, and more kills than anyone else on the lobby.
Go play your COD and Starcraft then since those are apparently the only things worth playing.
I am really curious at how this CSR works… personally… I won’t be playing Halo that much soon cause I will be catching up on games I missed out on during this time… Hitman, Most Wanted then onto Crysis or which ever order.
Nonetheless, I am wondering if those camping/ losing/ maybe winning mostly kill harvesters will move up in rank… basically cheat thier way… yeah some call it a legit strategy, but camping for higher k/d just pisses me off… cause your ruining the fun for others. So, you think thier CSR system will be able to tell the diff between the cheats and those who earned it?

Yes, but the people they are aiming team throwdown at are not going to be excited by a game and plalyist with no visible ranking system.
Not to mention the fact that they are already gone.
No I am actually naming games that aren’t that old, Unreal 3 isnt that old and it is still very competitive and oh guess what? It does not have ranks,and yet it has lots of players, not on Xbox sadly but the only reason behind that is that Xbox does not allow user created content like PC and PS3 do.
I just find it silly that people can’t enjoy a game because they can’t see a number going up or down.
But I guess whatever floats your boat.
IMO Ranks were a terrible addition because people use them to look down against other players and trash talk.
