I think if you removed the title “Halo” and come one up with a original title, it would at least take off some negative towards the game. Just pretend for just a minute that the whole Halo franchise didn’t exist and this game come out with a different title in the same date Halo 5 come out. Would this game still suck?

By industry standards it’s an ok game but if we forget about it being a Halo game then I’m sure it would get more hate because of things like lack of maps, awkward controls in forge plus most of the trailer were mis-leading.
Depends on whether or not the developer made misleading ads.
even with more options to help aiming, it is still RNG magnetic junk
By industry standards it’s an okay game, though the triple-A industry has pretty -Yoinking!- low standards in the first place.
it probably would be a decent game, but with the Halo title smacked onto it the game does not please enough
It’s a great game and it’s a great Halo game. The nonsense whining with no thought behind it is getting old. You’re mad that you’re not able to win without putting any effort forth-we get it. The rest of us are enjoying the game.
No split screen.
Short Campaign.
Poor Casual support.
Strong Competitive online gameplay.
Modest Graphics.
Its a mediocre game no matter how you frame it.
You know what game would be amazing if it had been branded differently? The recent My Little Pony Card game.

Truth
Through the market it would count as an okay game, but through my eyes it’s an amazing game.
It would have done slightly better if it was a new IP, at least in the criticism of it’s multiplayer offerings. Campaign would have been considered short regardless and arguably more deceptive with the marketing. Either way, 343 didn’t seem like it was firing on all cylinders with the launch of Halo 5, not sure if being new would have really changed public perception in that case.
The people who are still saying it’d be a bad game are probably still comparing it to Halo 2. If you took Halo 5, completely re-skinned it and called it something new, it’d still have more content than the recent multiplayer games you see like Battlefront or Rainbow Six Siege. I’m sure people would really like it.
As a matter of fact, about 99% of the folks who don’t like Halo 5 don’t like it due to comparisons of previous installments. Almost all non-biased opinions I’ve seen on it have said that it’s definitely above average.

True. That’s been one of my main issues with Halo 5’s critics. It has objectively more content than the games you mentioned, as well as games like destiny. Does it have as much content as previous Halos? No. But does it have more content than many other first person shooters out there? Yes.

For the multiplayer, possibly. The campaign is bad and poorly done any way you slice it.
I’m sure that this game would get significantly less hate if it were called something else. Likewise though, it would also get far less attention and sell way less. Part of being part of a popular brand is that you get the higher expectations, but you also get the attention. If this wasn’t called “Halo” people would just see this as another generic shooter with some solid game-play. That’s it. As a Halo game you will have the people who are upset that it isn’t as good as previous Halo’s, but you will also get people (like me) who buy it solely because it is Halo.
I think there’s 2 aspects to this:
I think if it wasn’t a Halo game then it would be getting crapped on less. I think this would because people have high standards for Halo games and would have less standards for a non-franchise game.
I also think if it isn’t Halo then the population would be ABHORRENT. I think a lot of people, including me, are only still playing because they’re true fans of the Halo series and are committed to playing Halo no matter how it turns out. If this game was not part of my favorite series ever then I almost certainly would’ve dropped it after a week.

I hate to agree with this

I kinda like some of the changes in halo 5. It may be a weak halo game but like you mentioned it’s still a decent game. And I still play it for the same reason

So it should be 6 or 6.5 out of ten? Maybe 7 after content hits, like forge.
If it was a new iP people would be blown away
