No sprint, no thrusters, no jetpacks, no trash maps. Can we have symmetrical maps back? You know like narrows, pit, beaver creek, etc. Like, we get it, a spartan can be super cool, with jets and thrusters and all that other “omg imma noob i wanna fly like on cod and titanfall(idk why games copied the heck out of titanfall, that game didnt last more than it’s launch day)” stuff. Let this sink in, Halo 3 had 230k+ players playing daily 24/7 grinding to get better and playing with friends like people are playing fortnite now. We need this halo experience back. And no, you dont have to add 50 million things to make that happen, REMOVE things. Make Halo Infinite as simple as possible, please. If you’re going to do events for certain playlists do that, but make the core gameplay SIMPLE. Please. Please God save Halo.
The classic movement and gameplay mechanics may return, though there best not be a Battle Royale mode. 343 needs to do whatever they can to satisfy everyone with Halo Infinite
Not sure what e-sports has to do with getting rid of spartan abilities and/or bringing symmetrical maps back (which I do wholeheartedly agree with). If anything, shoving e-sports down everyone’s throat was one of the sorriest mistakes Halo 5 made. I’ve been around since CE and not once did I ever give a -Yoink- about e-sports.
But like I said, I agree all this COD/Titanfall -Yoink- needs to go. Games are copying each other too much these days.
There’s beauty in simplicity, H5 got too many buttons.
I hope it has the feel of Halo CE but with the weapons of Halo 4 and 5 and halo wars 2. It would be aweosome to ride in a colossus and fire its rail gun or ride in the promethius mantis and shoots its missiles and laser cannons
Was halo 5 not esports focused? Because I feel halo 5 went over board with trying to he new and competitive and also seems to be the most hated halo
I would actually like to see more asymmetrical maps. Halo has always had great maps in the past, and the symmetrical ones were the ones I miss the least

Satisfy everyone from the Halo community…
Good luck with that…

Even though I want the old school Halo back. I don’t think they will remove sprint and stuff. Because people are now used to (from Reach) sprint and abilities. That’s 8 years ago. And sprint is kinda standard now in most FPS games. At least fast paced gameplay.
Removing it now would be like going back to the stone age (golden age if we talk about Halo, which we are). If they don’t make a playlist with classic settings and new settings, I think it’s too late to go back to the old ways…
But hey, what do I know. They actually listened about some stuff, so there might be hope.
Your title and comments aren’t related to each other so I’m not sure why you even mentioned eSports. I agree with some of your post, but saying Halo will be dead is a stretch and it’s not a guarantee that it will be successful if it went back to what you’re suggesting.
If anything they need to make it more casual and not esports oriented. Halo 5 was esports oriented so they added all this BS to make the skillgap insane where people can boost clamber jump all over the damn place. Everyone thinks esports = more complicated these days. Make it casual and esports will happen due to the pure enjoyment it brings.
Halo 3 was way more casual than 2 and 5 and it’s the majority favorite. Halo reach was casual to the point of impeding gameplay but the community still loved that game.

343 didn’t use these gimmicks to make the game more competitive, they tried to make H5 a good eSport title despite having all of that BS.
One of the main reasons for those gimmicks is “immersion”, I think they even used the phrase “feel like a jet on legs” a couple of times?!
So if you want to blame the inclusion of gimmicks on trying to win over a certain group of players it’s not the hardcore, competitive players but rather “casuals” that want to feel more badass…
But buzzwords like “casual” or “competitive” don’t work all that well to define gameplay IMO.
What 343 need to do in my eyes is come up with an intelligent gamedesign again, something that is easy to pick up but gives hardcore room to learn more of. Easy to learn, hard to master.
Returning to Halo’s mechanical roots and expanding from there has nothing to do with being “esports focused” and frankly I’m tired of people talking like that’s some kind of design philosophy.
Also, the esports influence is partly why we got the state we’re in and Halo lost much of its modular nature was sacrificed due to some arbitrary distinction between ‘Arena’ and ‘Casual’. This language has done nothing for Halo.

Got a mouse in your pocket?
Wanna know why Halo 5 (apparently) does not have “230k+ players playing daily 24/7 grinding to get better and playing with friends like people are playing fortnite now” is because people coming to Halo 5 that are content with the game as is get, "omg imma noob i wanna fly like on cod and titanfall(idk " from players with your attitude instead of “Welcome to the Halo Community.”
You have seen Halo fall from grace and you blame sprint, thrusters, jetpacks and trash maps. Those things ain’t it. It’s one part of the community having no respect for any other segment of the community. People can take a hint. They went elsewhere.
i very openly had no issue whatsoever with the abilities in Halo 4. Refinement of that would have been pretty nice.

For me, it’s completely fine to bring back the classic mechanics. But there needs add something new, atratcive, like new weapons, great level design maps, partial destruction of objects, climate change or something like that.
I don’t want nostalgia bait to play the same as previous series. I like a phrase where somebody (i don’t remember) mention it: “Bring me a Halo 3.5”. Bring something new without loosing the essence.
To our happiness, Senior Designer Job is still open on 343i. I expect them to choose a very talented who brings the classic core gameplay.
The only thing we know there’s a great chance they will bring INSPIRED (attention) classic art style to the game because of the artist (or not, the artist could freak out and change all things.).

I don’t understand that too. I completely agree. People exaggerates too much, and this kind of negativity doesn’t work anything.
Halo’s glory-days was when it wasn’t entirely focused on E-Sports.
People did E-Sports for it sure, but that was an organic thing, Bungie didn’t bend over backwards to appease a tiny crowd of pro-players at the determent for the greater fun for the majority player-base.
They’d be better off focusing on the fun and feel of Halo first and worry about if people wanna’ do tournaments second.

No. Just no. While I don’t agree with OP, this “ain’t it” either. EVERY game that has online mp has “one part of the community” that acts this way. Every. MP. Game. I never played one game that didn’t. Now maybe it’s because the game itself caters to that “one part of the community” and they’re more numerous. Did you ever think about that? Maybe it’s too e-sports oriented. Could you even count the number of posts on this site that have called H5 ‘sweaty’… ‘try hard’… ‘too competitive’? Maybe it’s because the game is so competitive focused that it drains the fun too much to keep them engaged despite the -Yoinks!-. Halo doesn’t house that one part of the community in its entirety… XBL does… and there are plenty of other games out there that people flock to and enjoy despite the attitude(s) that you claim have caused Halo to fall from grace.

H5 was definitely the most esports focused.
Sprint is fine, I don’t see why people are so disgruntled about it. If you’re getting shot at, you’re gonna run for your life and take cover. I’d like to have the feeling that my Spartan is more mobile.

It was esport focused but in a terrible way. They tried to blend esports and casual play together so that tournament settings would be vanilla halo 5 core gameplay, which to do that they would have to make it so casual players would enjoy competitive, which in every halo it was seperated for a reason. Casual players(for the most part) want automatic weapon start so they can spray to have a chance to kill better players, as opposed to getting 4 shotted by the better player because they never took the time to practice their strafe and aim to keep up. Same reason why they added thrusters and sprint to get away from fights instead of having to take them.
