If they remake Halo 2...

I think they should make it the game it should have been, add in the levels Bungie had to cut, make the levels bigger and better and fix all the issues the original had. It could be hit or miss but its what Bungie would do, don’t take the easy way out 343i, only updating the graphics and sound worked for HCEA (and I honestly wouldn’t want it any other way) but for Halo 2 you guys need to take it to the next level.

(Also the remakes will need to stop here. Halo 2 deserves a remake, but the other games are recent enough to not need one for a long, long time.)

Fix the issues?

Such as the Super Jumps, button combos and other fun glitches?

Sorry to tell you my friend but those are what made Halo 2 such a great game, it was totally unpredictable, you would be sent flying off into the air and have no idea how high you would go from a super bounce.

Also, if they do what you are suggesting, they might as well call it Halo 2.5, your asking for changes in a game remake that isn’t related to graphics.

IMO if they were to remake Halo 2 they should make a Campaign-only downloadable arcade game.

Exactly. Keep all of the glitches, and fix the visuals (texture popping, etc.).

It would be awesome to get a remake of H2, but not really necessary.

They should basically do what they did with CEA. Still include a classic mode and add terminals again. Maybe focus on the gravemind that time around, that would be cool. Maybe change the way you activate the original skulls to make them more like they are now. I don’t know what they would do with multiplayer but hopefully we get our BRs back in Halo 4.

While I agree H2 deserves a remake (for numerous reasons I won’t list here because then we would go off topic) I don’t agree with the OP.

See: people are already complaining about Reach and TFoR not being exactly the same, even though it’s been explained (or can be explained) in most cases. Now imagine what would happen if you would suddenly add new levels (and with them new story) to the middle chapter of the Trilogy: complete chaos storywise that is going to cause massive outrage.

Not only is Halo 2’s campaign fine as it is, the story (both in H2 and throughout the series) doesn’t need an expansion like that as it is bound to conflict with no real ways to fix it really.

I’m all for seeing the deleted levels however! But here’s the twist: I’d then rather see 343i reuse the concepts of those levels (the cut E3 2003 demo for instance) as Firefight maps. That way you’d have an actual idea of those cut levels, without the story being chopped up, flipped upside down and raped on all sides…

As for the “bugs” and glitches: as annoying as glitches are, they were part of what made Halo 2 fun (esspecially in Custom Games!). So I’d rather have those included in a remake.

I have no idea what was going in the story after Halo Ce.

Op, the levels they cut are either cut into different levels that we already have in halo 2 or were put into halo 3, the couldn’t do that.

I think halo 2 would make a better remake than cea

I agree completely. Give me 13 achievements for every level on normal (minus the first two) and campaign heroic and legendary for 14 and 15. Done.

Agreed the point of a good remake is to remaster the old game, with out losing the stuff that made it fun, the glitches was fun, as long as it’s only the campaign glitches are fine, glitches in MP aren’t fun for any one if it’s used in match making to “cheat” in game. But if they remake Halo 2 the way they did Halo CE, and leave out MP, then glitches are fine.
But Halo 2 with Halo Reach graphics or better, I would be over joyed. They did fix most of the textures issues in Halo 2 PC (AKA Halo 2 Vista).

The multiplayer was the highlight for Halo 2, removing the multiplayer would annoy alot of people.

EDIT: Icwutudidthar

Halo 2 was the true beginning of my love for Halo, I loved the storyline and the rich exchange between the new Arbiter and Master Chief. Out of all the games, I personally consider it the best so far.

That said, let’s consider this for a moment. What happens when a big title, like a movie for example, is put on the chopping block to be redone. What if they took a classic like Jaws and decided they wanted to redo it? Everyone I hear talk about old movies being remade say the same exact thing. “They better not mess this up or I will be so mad!” For each person saying that, it can mean something completely different and ultimately would cause more chaos than good.

Everyone remembers how much they adored their favorite cartoons as a kid, for me it was Thunder Cats and He-man. I go back and watch them now, only to realize how silly they were. All these movies being made, all of these remakes of remakes. It’s a downward spiral with no real collaborative, creative, or cumulative end.

Somethings are best left as they were, to be remembered and beloved by all of its fans.

Things to fix:

-Hunter scripting on Great Journey. They don’t cross the bridge unless coerced.
-Vehicles easily getting destroyed from collisions (or just include Tilt skull)
-this is going to sound radical, but give Goldies powerful shields!! :’(

Specific things to leave alone:

-honor guard Councilor

How about this…

We all know that the enhancing of graphics in the campaign, and of course adding terminals, is a huge highlight in the remake of HCEA.

This is what I propose to 343i:

Do as you did with HCEA and enhance the graphics for H2 in the campaign mode and multiplayer (BE SURE TO ENHANCE BLOOD GULTCH THIS TIME!!! Also known as Coagulation in H2, if you didn’t know that). Then for the multiplayer maps, since we all loves those glitches, make two different varients for each map.

One varient would be for the custom games so people can have fun with the glitches they used to love. The other varient would have kill zones, idea taken from Halo: Reach, on the maps so that way people cannot use them in regular matchmaking.

Does that sound fair/good enough for everyone to have an enhanced version of the game they loved, while you can still have the glitchy madness fun we used to have as well?

If they did a Halo 2 Anniversary, then 343i may end up taking Halo 2 maps and implementing them into Halo 4. I imagine people would get even more “yoinked” off than they did with Halo CEA’s multiplayer. But if Halo 4 has awesome multiplayer even respected by the “competitive” community, then this may not be much of an issue.

To be honest, I am not exactly in favor of a Halo 2 remake. I’d like new stuff. The Halo: CE Anniversary was understandable because it was the first game and it started it all. Halo 2, however, would be remaking just for the sake of remaking.

New games, please.

I’d like a remake, but I’d also like to see some of “the levels that were never finished” put in there, they don’t have to be canon. even if 343 made a mission where chief is on the forerunner ship, it would be an awesome expasion to what bungie originally wanted to do and it would fit into the canon.

I’d also like to see the MP maps remade, but with an option to toggle super bounces, etc in forge (or maybe even place new super bounces too!)

The thing is, 343 would be splitting up the current Halo game’s population (either late into Halo 4’s life or the beginning of Halo 5’s) which they wouldn’t want to do (I don’t want that to happen either). Plus it would only be celebrating the 10 year Anniversary of Halo 2 rather than 10 years of Halo, so it wouldn’t need to be as big. There is no need to remake the multiplayer because we would already have a multiplayer game at the time (either Halo 4 or 5). People want to relive the Campaign in better graphics just like Halo CE Anniversary.

Also, one of the main reasons as to why they remade Halo CE Campaign was because a lot of Halo fans haven’t even played it and a lot of them would like to know how the story started.

So, IMO they should remake the Halo 2 Campaign like they did the CE one (New graphics, Skulls, Terminals etc.) and make it a 800-1200 MS Point Arcade Game to celebrate Halo 2. I think it’d be perfect.
