face it. Forerunners are mad scientist. Great awesome super mad scientist. SO WIll Wee See some of what they made in the time between halo activation and now (if their there that is) or if they arnt there see what they were working on.
I mean we need a enemy and what better then a genetic experiment that ether failed and fixed its self or one that was always working and made better or one thats never worked.

Cregrims:A Creature that evolved from the elites that had the genes spliced to allow them to eat the flood. At First A FAiled experiment but after a few years they evolved to not just eat but farm flood as a food sorce. There deadly and always mad. (When I first made them they just evolved this way with out any gene splicing click the link for more detail on original idea)
Gurata: a gueta with cyber attachments
FLOOsuck:A member of the flood that was sorta made harmless. They just walk around watching the planet but see them selves as more civalised flood.
Brimicks:Creatures that evolved from brutes thanks to forerunner tech they are known for being great assassins. They can turn on camo when ever they want to. Their brains are coated with plates of diamond making it extremely hard to kill them with a bullet to the head.
Fishers: Deadly jackal like creatures that have evolved making the water a dangerous place. Able to use a special Tank on their back that converts the water into oxygen they can go under water to fix forerunner structures or go catch fish. This makes them great at suprize attacks able to hide in the water till you come for a visit.
Planet details:Heavily forested with odd flood formed trees. there are also large amounts of green Needle crystals here that have grown on the planet like a form of mold. they previde large amounts of light and can be seen from space with no trouble. Water here is pure red and is Poison to anything but those that live here.
Planet history: The planet was built as a new home for all species killed in the halo incident encase there actual home world was destroyed in some way. Once the halos lit however the sun to this planet went dark for unknown reasons. This made it easy for the flood to hide here. Once all life was released it turned into a all out buffet for the flood. slowly eating each of the creatures on the planet. How ever one creature was able to fight back. With nothing on the planet for them to actually eat the only thing left was the flood. They soon found the flood were easy to eat and could be reproduced making them the last species (besides the flood which were now being famed as live stalk) on the planet. these were the Cregrims that were at one time Sangheili.
Charcteristics: Male:Large elite like creatures. Pale skin. Dark red glowing eyes. Strong jumping legs because of heavy gravity. warty arms. hard shelled back (so if they fall out of a tree they can land safely on there back).
Female:Much like a elite female but look much more like human women. There skin is more tan and there eyes are yellow instead of red. There backs don’t have a hard shell because unlike the males they don’t climb trees.
Military: They don’t have power armor but have energy weapons. They wear cloaks and a mask over there face to scare there opponents. Unlike the elites both males and females can go into the military. Females as a form of light ground infentry using a small machine gun that shoots needles and males as a Heavy melee fighter using only a energy scythe.
Military ranking:
Minor:While this is the lowest rank because of the high gravity there strength and skill is on par with a field marshal elite. Also they do not wear mask or cloaks instead they have a helmet and chest armor
Major:These are Mean and deadly. on par with 10 Field marshals in skill. They wear a black cloak and white mask
General:the last but most Strongest rank in the military they will lead entire armys. They wear red cloaks and gold mask.
Blood Color: Redish green
Type: Walks like a elite but they prefer to climb there worlds trees as the trees are faster to jump on then to run on the dirt.
Species as of today: You would think that having no star would be a bad thing but in fact it made them better. While No sun ment no real life energy there flood only diet made there bodys no longer need sunlight. This turned them pale and gave them glowing red eyes. The high gravity on there planet also strengthened there bodys. There Technology level is Tier 5. They however don’t use energy for anything else but weapons as the crystals previde all the light they need. They do know how to use spaceships but don’t need them as they prefer there home.
They were found by the prophets who after loosing The final battle in the human covie war were retreating. The prophets just by chance saw there planet and after seeing how they work from outer space asked them to join as a way to form a new covenant.
AT first they said no but after seeing that space travel could in fact help them find crystals and maybe find another planet with flood to eat they accepted under one condition. The Prophets must not enterfear with the Cregrims goverment and military making this a alliance then a full on pact.
With these new exstreamly strong creatures on the prophets side is any one truely safe.
They sorta look like this but are pale white instead of blue and the armor would be sorta gold.
I just wanted to post this here so people get a vage idea of my first thought of the cregrim (before this)
I like how even though they are completely separate race from the Covenant you have still implemented ‘similar’ charactertistics to offer some familiarity. I think this concept could turn out successful as the player does of course want to meet fresh new characters/enemies/allies but for gameplay functions, such roles may have to be kept to ensure a healthy combat system that was so successful before.
In terms of the notion of experimental testing and outcomes the Forerunners may have carried out, this is a good idea for introducing something new to the game. We know the Forerunner race was known for its ecological and environmental control of species, ecosystems, planets and universes so such a development and process could by all means be possible ‘fiction’.

The forerunners are a species that lived before are and the covenants time that was only ever bested by another species in tech who was gone before the forerunners entered the picture. The forerunners hated war and only used it when in times of great need. They made the rings and many other types of machinery. They fought the flood, and lost. They wear weird falcon looking white clothes and use laser made laser shooting guns. The planet we see in the trailer is oviusly a shield world meaning it was made by the forerunners.
One known creature created by the forerunners was the engineer.
Also they put dna into these weird plate things that saved everything but them selves and the flood from being 100% wiped out
And so where in all of that doe sit say they did weird genetic experiments that made creatures like the ones your describe? They are not and have never been compared to mad scientists.
