If there's only 10 maps...

…then there won’t be a lot of room for map remakes from previous Halos, right? Maybe one of the DLCs will only be map remakes.

What do you guys think?

I believe all 10 are going to be brand new maps, no remakes. Maybe reimagined maps or spiritual successors. That being said however, I’d love it if eventually we had a halo title that included all the maps from previous Halo games, granted that’s a lotta maps, but a guy can dream.

No map remakes. Every map was built with the mechanics of the game in mind. Halo 4 will perform completely different than previous Halos. If people still insist on map remakes, then they better tweak and scale the maps to suit the new style of play.

If there are remakes it should only be maps not yet seen on the 360 from Halo 1/2.

After Reach, I am absolutely sick of map remakes. I hope there are zero Remakes in halo 4.

Good, I don’t want many remakes. They almost never work. The remakes in Reach did not play or feel anything like the previous games. It’s time they move on to new maps.

I would rather see spiritual successors than pure remakes, if anything.

This is true, but what about Blood Gulch? It’s been in 3 Halos that have a big time span between their release dates and they still manage to fit that map in.

Blood Gulch is a terrible map. I would much rather see Valhalla return.

I feel there were a handful of maps that I would like to see return. Like Sandtrap, Guardian, Last Resort, Avalanche, Lockout, and Rats Nest. I’m sick of Blood Gulch. I think those maps were amazing.

I’m not saying I like Blood Gulch after it was in 3 Halos, I meant that they fit the same map in 3 Halos that played fairly different then each other.

I don’t want any remakes. I think 343i already announce that there was no remakes in this game. I can’t remember where I heard it from though.

I’m still interested in that Waterworks/Blood Gulch map Frankie was talking about.

I just hope that the maps have a theme to them instead of just making the mindset of creating the most beautiful maps there are. Some Arena-style maps wouldn’t hurt either, but I guess we’ll have forge for that.

Those are Bungie’s maps, not 343i’s. Not to mention how different Halo plays now compared to when those maps were current. They were never designed for things like Sprint. We need new maps that are designed around the new Halo gameplay. Just look at how Reach ruined formerly great maps like Ivroy Tower and Sanctuary.

I thought that was already accomplished by the Anniversary Map Pack.

I think there could be one remake at most… Kind of like Reflection in Reach.

Just because it was put in 3 different Halo games in no way means that it played well. The map didn’t even work in Halo: CE. Blood Gulch was designed to be a heavy vehicle map, but there were limited vehicles, not enough power weapons, and 4v4s were common place for it(WHY?!).

That was only a few. There are still more maps that have never seen online play yet. Cough Rat Race Cough However, most of them like Boarding Action and Chiron just won’t work in today’s online environment.

I agree completely, I think the only maps 343i should remake are their own in future Halos maybe. Bungie remade its own maps and 343i should do the same. They already remade Halo CE maps, I think that is plenty for now.
