Does anyone think that halo 4 would have been much more enjoyable without the DMR? With its insane hitscan, magnetism, long-ranged, accurate, quick rate of fire, and lack of bloom? It would be much safer to move around on maps than it is fighting DMRs. We would still have powerful LR but that weapon is much harder to use up close, practically a noobs worst nightmare weapon
Yes, yes, and yes. I’d actually be able to move around the map without getting riddled with bullets from half-way across the map by DMR-Camo campers. DMR shuts down map movement, hard. In Halo 3, everyone moved around the map. Why? Because the BR didn’t have the range that the DMR has.

This is the best thing I’ve heard.

The wisest of us has spoken.
On a serious note, I agree with everything here…DMR’s range is waaaaay too large.
halo 4 would be a lot more enjoyable without that gun…it just feels like a -Yoink- gun the sound the look everything and i agree it locks maps down and thats just ugh >.<
DMR and Sprint have too much of a negative impact on map design. It should be a giant red flag when people say that we can’t use many of the great classic Halo maps because they wouldn’t work right with DMR/Sprint.
When someone complains about a DMR vs BR duel people usually tell the BR user to move closer to get a better position. I think the game would be improved if both of the combatants had to move a little closer.
Good then that the DMR is getting a range nerf isn’t it?
> Does anyone think that halo 4 would have been much more enjoyable without the DMR?
Nope. It wouldn’t have changed the boring story, the lackluster campaign, or the repetitive Spartan Ops.
It would also be missing a local only search option and the population would still have dropped just as quick.
I saw on here on the forums once that some people tried to remake the Pit, a good, classic halo 3 map, but the DMR completely rendered the sight lanes useless and made the sniper tower a deathtrap. That and the jetpack ruined the map

Those are completely separate problems than the DMR. If those are the things that irk you then you should make a thread devoted to them rather than compare apples to oranges.
Sigh, it wouldn’t have made any difference whatsoever. The notion that the DMR is the sole reason for a lack of movement in BTB is a joke.
Random world ordnance and personal ordnance destroy map movement and map control, not DMRs. Not only that, but placing Mantis where they don’t belong(Ragnarok/Meltdown), precision weapons being far to powerful against vehicles, PPs + plasmas, terrible maps(Settler). All these things far outweigh any effect the DMR has.
Agreed, by simply switching to BR starts the game becomes so much better IMO.
Halo 4 world peace lol
> Agreed, by simply switching to BR starts the game becomes so much better IMO.
What about people who hate the BR? I’ve always hated that gun, I wanted a single shot rifle and in Reach we got one, It’s OP in 4 but it should balance out once weapon tuning happens
@OP: It wouldn’t make much of a difference, people would complain something else is OP, we still have personal ordinance, active camo glitch, etc. What if there was no BR in Halo 2 when that was OP?

I agree that halo 4 has far more problems than just the DMR, but the question was simply whether or not halo 4 would have been MORE enjoyable without the DRM, not enjoyable in general. Because I am at the point where I think removing the DMR would make the game more fun/less aggravating
>Halo community complains about having inconsistent and innacurate primary weapons.
>Gets one
>They complain more
I think that big team suffers due to the DMR most games are just cross mappin’ which isn’t very good. On small 4v4 maps though it is brilliant.

Youve had a single shot rifle since halo 2. Its called the carbine. Yeah, I know we didnt get to spawn with it, but at the same time I dont remember anyone demading the carbine to be a weapon you could spawn with in certain game modes before halo 3 came out, so…there you go.
As for the op, the only way things would be different in halo 4 without the dmr would be if descoping were brought back. Otherwise, the lightrifle would be the new op long range rifle. Descoping would insure that its long range can be effectively countered while also staying true to canon that forerunner weapons are the most superior out of the three factions.

yeah but it’s more rapid fire, I like pacing my shots

The halo 2 br was hitscan, and allowed you to pace your shots. But you dont like 3 round burst, and you dont like the carbine because it fires too fast…someone’s high maintenance.
> Good then that the DMR is getting a range nerf isn’t it?
Yeah and it going to be replaced with the Lightrifle and is going to kill even faster than the DMR at long range. But, at least a weapon meant for long range won’t (better not) win at all other ranges too.
